Then the asset may be recorded consistent with the at least one first option and the least one second option. Next, a “my recordings list” associated with the first user may be displayed. In response to the displayed “my recordings” list associated with the first user, a request to play the asset may then be received. Next, in response to the received request to play the asset, the asset may be played consistent with the at least one first option.

Abstract: Storing information associated with content may be provided. First, information associated with available content may be presented to a user via a user device. Next, a user selection for an item of content may be received. In a dedicated memory location for the user, identifying information for the selected item of content may then be stored.

Abstract: Identifying user behaviors via remote control signal broadcasts may be provided. A content element such as a video may be displayed on a display device. During display of the content, a control signal may be received and deciphered. The deciphered control signal may be used to determine whether the content is being consumed by a user, and this determination may be logged and/or reported to the content provider.

Abstract: A call handling system receives an incoming call from a caller. In response to receiving the incoming call, the call handling system determines a call count for the caller. The call count for the caller is based on a number of calls in a sequence of calls received by the call handling system from the caller, including the incoming call. A maximum amount of time between any of the calls in the sequence of calls does not exceed an expiration period. Based on the call count for the caller, the call handling system identifies and performs an action to take with regard to the incoming call.

Abstract: Transmitting entertainment information for presentation to a user and receiving, on behalf of the user, user response information responsive to the entertainment information is disclosed. The entertainment information may include a set of questions such as trivia-related questions or polling questions. The user response information may indicate a set of corresponding responses provided by the user in response to the set of questions. The entertainment information may be identified based on available historical preference data associated with the user, demographic data associated with the user or may be randomly selected to gauge user interest. User psychographic data associated with the user may be generated based at least in part on the user response information. At least one offering for targeting to the user such as a product or service offering or a targeted advertisement may be identified based on the user psychographic data and may be transmitted for presentation to the user.

In some embodiments, a request to view a listing of content assets associated with a user account may be received from a user device. One or more content assets associated with the user account may be identified. The listing of content assets may be generated based at least in part on the identified one or more content assets. The listing of assets may be transmitted to the user device.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and methods related to cloud-enabled network-based digital video recording. In some embodiments, a request to copy a file to a plurality of target file locations may be received. A file may be retrieved and processed. The processing may include apportioning the file into a plurality of data blocks. At least one of the plurality of data blocks may be stored. A plurality of references pointers associated with each of the plurality of data blocks may be generated. The plurality of reference pointers may be stored to each of the plurality of file locations.

Abstract: This disclosure describes system and methods related to entitlement validation and quality control of content in a cloud-enabled network-based digital video recording system. In some embodiments, whether a record event exists may be determined. The record event may indicate an entitlement check associated with a content asset needs to be completed. A determination may be made as to whether a user account is authorized to access the content asset. An asset record associated with the content asset may be modified to prevent future recording of the content asset. A record to delete the content asset may be generated in association with the user account in response to determining the user account is not authorized to access the content asset. The record event may be removed.

Abstract: A system for weighted communication of data packets via a data communication network. Data packets from sending devices are selectively transmitted in the upstream direction to recipient devices through the application of weights, or weight factors, which determine the number of data packets from each sending device transmitted upstream relative to the number of data packets from other sending devices during a round robin cycle of such devices. Data packets for delivery to receiving devices are selectively transmitted in the downstream direction to the receiving devices using the application of weights, or weight factors, which determine the number of data packets for each receiving device transmitted downstream relative to the number of data packets for other receiving devices during a round robin cycle of such devices. Weights may be associated with the service tier subscribed to with a communication service provider by an owner/user of a sending and receiving device.

Abstract: The systems and methods of out of band application synchronization across devices disclosed herein include a companion application running on a secondary device, such as a mobile device. An out-of-band file containing program event markers is transmitted to a set top box. These program event markers may be used to link the program watched on the STB or the mobile device. Upon reaching the position indicated by the out-of-band file, the payload may be sent out by the STB to an application on a secondary device. The secondary device running the companion application receives the payload and triggers an action to fetch the associated metadata from the server. The companion application may include related content or advertisements, and communicate with a social network or the user's network to communicate at the same time with other customers watching the same program.

Abstract: A user interface may be provided. First, a first input may be received, and in response to the received first input, at least a portion of a plurality of content elements may be displayed. Then, a second input indicating a selection of a one of the displayed plurality of content elements may be received. In response to the received second input, a displayed full version of a programming content and the displayed plurality of content elements may be removed. Also, in response to the received second input, a shrunken version of the full version of the programming content and a more detailed version of the selected one of the plurality of content elements may be displayed. Next, in response to a received third input, the more detailed version and the displayed shrunken version may be removed and the full version of the programming content may be redisplayed.

Abstract: Certain embodiments herein relate to a hybrid cable that includes a center conductor for disturbing electrical signals and one or more optical fibers adjacent to the center conductor for distributing light signals in a service provider network. According to one configuration, materials found in a coaxial cable may be included in the hybrid cable, such as a dielectric material, one or more protective shields, and an outer protective core. Such a hybrid cable may be utilized to replace drop cables in a service provider network, which may connect an access point, such as a tap, to a customer location. Certain embodiments herein may also relate to making and installing the hybrid cable.

Abstract: A system, method and device for swapping display configurations between viewing devices. The system allows for swapping channels back and forth between the TV and the media device. A user and devices associated with the user are registered with the system. A swap setup is configured by setting swap configuration information. Swap functionality is provided to the registered devices. A swap initiation signal is received at the registered devices and display configurations are swapped between the registered devices.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing rights to broadband content are provided. A request for broadband content may be received by a server. The received request may include a client identifier associated with a customer device from which the request is received and a content identifier associated with the requested broadband content. Based at least in part upon the client identifier, a billing account associated with the customer device may be identified, and one or more users associated with the billing account may be identified. A set of access rights for the one or more users may be determined and, based upon an analysis of the set of access rights, a determination may be made as to whether access to the broadband content is authorized.

Then, video on demand information corresponding to the video on demand content program may be added to a video on demand information list. Next, the shrunken programming content may be displayed. Then, in response to the received first input and concurrent with the shrunken programming content, a media guide comprising at least three display elements may be displayed. At least one of the three display elements may be customized for a user. Each one of the three display elements may include a first content element, a second content element, a third content element, a fourth content element, or a fifth content element. The first content element may display available programming channels. The second content element may display programs available on the available programming channels. The third content element may display description information. The fourth content element may display actions that can be taken.

Abstract: Parameterized Quality of Service (QoS) may be provided. In response to receiving a registration request from a device, a determination of resource availability may be made. If resources are available to satisfy data flows to the device, a flow priority may be established and the device may be added to the priority queue configuration. If the device later requests establishment of a data flow, the data flow may be transmitted at the established flow priority.
