Abstract: Systems and methods for receiving from a first server a client specific information, transmitting a manifest request to a second server, the manifest request incorporating the client specific information, and receiving from the second server a manifest file. The manifest file may be associated with programming content divided into a plurality of segments. At least one of the plurality of segments may be based in part on the client specific information.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include split keyboard and handles adaptable for use with mobile devices. According to one embodiment, a mobile device is provided that includes a body, which houses a display, and a split keyboard configured as a first keypad half and a second keypad half. The first keypad half and the second keypad half are configured to separately extend and retract from the body. In addition, each keypad half may include a retractable handle.

Abstract: Providing increased bandwidth to business subscribers during business hours. A determination is made whether a subscriber is eligible for application of a business boost. Business boost to the subscriber is activated when the subscriber is eligible for business boost. An increased bandwidth is provided to the activated subscriber during business hours to provide the business boost to the subscriber.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing virtual set-top boxes are described. A virtual set-top box associated with at least one of a customer of a service provider or a customer account with the service provider may be established by a service provider system. A communications session with a customer device may be established by the service provider system via a wide area network. Based upon the established communications session, the virtual set-top box may be initiated by the service provider system. One or more parameters for communicating content from the virtual set-top box to the customer device may be identified, and the content may be communicated by the service provider system to the customer device based at least in part upon the identified one or more parameters.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for assigning customers to groups for the transmission of broadband data signals. Respective linear impairment information for a plurality of customers of a service provider may be determined. Based at least in part upon an analysis of the determined linear impairment information, each of the plurality of customers may be assigned to one of a plurality of groups. The customers assigned to each of the plurality of groups are associated with similar linear impairments. Additionally, for each of the plurality of groups, one or more frequencies at which communications will be output by the service provider for receipt by the customers assigned to the respective group may be determined.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing rights to broadband content are provided. A request for broadband content may be received by a server. The received request may include a client identifier associated with a customer device from which the request is received and a content identifier associated with the requested broadband content. Based at least in part upon the client identifier, a billing account associated with the customer device may be identified, and one or more users associated with the billing account may be identified. A set of access rights for the one or more users may be determined and, based upon an analysis of the set of access rights, a determination may be made as to whether access to the broadband content is authorized.

Abstract: To circumvent being blacklisted by an ISP, some viruses use a domain name generator algorithm or a domain generator algorithm (DGA). In an example, the DGA may use the current date and time to generate a random domain name based on the date. So for a given date, the botnet registers a particular domain in order to control the Trojan horse virus. The domain name that the botnet uses typically changes every day, which helps circumvent blacklisting. To counteract that, the disclosed systems and methods of DNS greylisting place a domain name in a grey list for a time period, for example a day, that the domain is resolved by the ISP. The first time the ISP experiences a customer trying to contact a particular domain, the ISP prevents the domain from resolving. After the time period (for example, 24 hours) expires, the domain is allowed to resolve normally.

Abstract: The invention includes a method and system for personalizing displays of published Web pages provided by Web content providers to meet the interests of Web users accessing the pages, based on profiles of the users. The system preferably provides to the requesting user, through a proxy server, an edited version of the HTML file for the original published Web page that is served by a host Web server. The system uses user profiles that may include demographic and psychographic data to edit the requested Web page. The content of a Web page as published by a host Web server may be coded to correlate components of the Web page with demographic and psychographic data. The user profiles may then be used to filter the content of a coded Web page for delivery to a requesting user. The system may rearrange content on a published Web page so that content determined to be of higher interest to a user is more prominently featured or more easily or quickly accessible.

Abstract: Systems and methods providing content having digital rights management (DRM) applications separable from other authorization applications are provided. A system may include a distribution service provider system in communication with a content provider system and consumer premise equipment (CPE) for the transmission of content from the content provider system to the CPE device. The distribution service provider system may: receive A/V content provided by the content provider system, wherein the A/V content includes a DRM application; apply a conditional access system (CAS) application to the A/V content that is independent of the DRM application; and transmit the A/V content including the CAS and the DRM applications to the CPE for presentation. The CPE device can perform DRM authorizations with the content provider or a third-party DRM provider.

Abstract: Notification of missed voice calls directed to non-responsive called party devices in a communication network is provided. An incoming call directed to a called party device, when the called party device is in a non-responsive state, are received at a messaging platform. Call data associated with the call is stored at the messaging platform. The stored call data is utilized to generate a notification of the call. The notification of the call is sent from the messaging platform to the called party device or another device associated with the called party. The notification may include an identification of the calling party and a date and time when the call was made.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus for providing broadband communication are described. A service gateway may be situated outside of one or more households. The service gateway may include a termination component and a broadband modem. The termination component may be configured to connect to a source of a broadband data signal and receive the signal from the source. The broadband modem may be configured to receive the signal from the termination component and output at least a portion of the signal for receipt by a remote device situated within a household. Additionally, the service gateway may optionally include a router in communication with the broadband modem. The router may be configured to function as an intermediary between the modem and the remote device.

Abstract: A bookmark communicates precisely the location within an asset where a video clip referenced by the bookmark can be found as well as the start and stop times of the video clip. A subscriber watches a program on a video device or other platform. When the subscriber decides to create a bookmark, the subscriber pauses the program. A bookmark interface is initiated, wherein the subscriber creates a bookmark references a video clip of the program. The first subscriber then selects at least one other subscriber to send the bookmark to. A second subscriber receives the bookmark. The receipt of the bookmark activates a bookmark interface that is displayed on the video device of the second subscriber. The second subscriber initiates an action associated with the bookmark, which may include selecting to watch the video clip associated with the bookmark.

Abstract: A method for paying back customers for unused service units remaining after a billing cycle. A payback amount is determined by the product of the number of unused service units remaining and the payback rate amount. The payback amount credited to the customer is the calculated payback rate or a maximum payback amount, wherever is smaller. A total payback amount can be determined based on a combination of payback amounts for various services, including voice services, texting services, email services, and/or data storage services.

Abstract: Allowing an initiating party to invoke automated communication attempts that continue and escalate and limit a targeted party's wireless device capabilities until satisfactory communication is established with the targeted party is provided. After a number of unsuccessful attempts at communicating with the targeted party, the initiating party may activate an automated escalating communication system that encourages the targeted party to eventually respond due to escalating communications automatically sent to the targeted party or his/her affiliates or due to limiting controls placed on the targeted party's communication device.

Abstract: A telephone fraud prevention system is provided. A fraud application server is in communication with a fraud database and a switch that determines which calls are sent to the fraud application server. A policy function may be integrated with existing fraud detection and correlation systems. When a call is originated and authentication fails, whether that's through a PIN, voice recognition, etc., the fraud application server sends a message indicating that this customer has failed to authenticate. After a number of authentication failures, evidence of high-risk calling is determined. Instead of reactively dealing with the fraud, the risk has been captured at the fraud application server and the switch blocks potential damage from that call and from that user.

Abstract: Systems and methods of automated event processing include at least one of notification extraction, development of event engineering rules, and testing. Notification extraction may include extracting notification information from the documentation. Automatic development of event engineering rules may receive and process each trap for a centralized monitoring system. An example embodiment would work with Netcool monitoring system from IBM. A set of software code or a software program may process and receive the alarms. Example embodiments of the program automate the implementation process for the code. The testing function automates the testing of the alarms. In an example embodiment, rules set parameters to test the alarms to ensure that the code processes the alarms correctly and as expected.

Abstract: A device for routing an upstream signal from a two-way digital output to an existing hybrid fiber coax network. A first path includes an input for receiving downstream optical signals associated with data and a two-way digital port for communicating the data of the downstream optical signals to a subscriber. A second path includes a hybrid fiber coax input and a two-way hybrid fiber coax port for communicating with the subscriber. A filter is disposed in the first path for routing an upstream signal from the subscriber at the two-way digital port to the second path for forwarding upstream via the hybrid fiber coax input.

Abstract: Systems and methods for associating additional content with broadband content are provided. A pairing between a customer premise device configured to output broadband content and a customer device may be identified by a service provider system. Information associated with content output by the customer premise device may be received by the service provider system from the customer premise device. Based at least in part upon an evaluation of the received information, the service provider system may identify additional content to be communicated to the customer device. The service provider system may then facilitate communication of the additional content to the customer device.

Abstract: Hybrid communications voicemail systems and methods are disclosed. A wireline telephone number may be operatively associated with a wireless telephone voicemail box such that calls placed to the wireline telephone number and subsequently routed to voicemail may be routed to the wireless telephone voicemail box. Thus, the user of both wireline and wireless telephones may check voicemail messages at a single wireless voicemail box. Parents or supervisors may check voicemail messages or converted text messages deposited for children or employees at the single wireless voicemail box. A wireless telephone user may allow calls to be routed to his/her wireless telephone from his/her wireline telephone if he/she cannot be reached at the wireline telephone or as designated by the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing rights to broadband content are provided. A request for broadband content may be received by a server.
