Abstract: Techniques for transmitting multiple “slices” of information for a particular location of a user interface, which can be used to present more information to a viewer for a limited-size viewing area. Multiple slices can be associated with a particular slice location of a user interface. In a first slice delivery and presentation scheme, multiple slices for a particular location of an interactive program guide (IPG) page are transmitted from the head-end at different times, and the slices can be appropriately time stamped for presentation at the designated times. In a second scheme, multiple slices are concurrently transmitted for a particular location of an IPG page, and one of the multiple slices can be selected for processing and display. In a third scheme, one slice is transmitted for each slice location, and additional slices can be transmitted for a particular location upon receiving a request from the terminal.

Abstract: An intelligent Find Me, Follow Me (FM/FM) service includes forming, processing, and ordering a list of end points which may be used for searching for a subscriber in a telecommunication system. A typical problem with previous FM/FM services is that the “follow me” portion does not track the usage of a device in order to make the decision on the order of endpoint contact. Example embodiments of the disclosed systems and methods of intelligent FM/FM services include a method of tracking endpoint usage to make an intelligent ordering of the devices in an FM/FM contact group.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing cloud computing resources are provided. A plurality of available cloud computing servers may be identified by a cloud computing resource manager (“CCRM”). The CCRM may include one or more computers. The initiation of one or more processes on one or more servers included in the plurality of cloud computing servers may be directed by the CCRM. Operational data associated with the operation of the one or more processes and network data associated with network timing delays between the one or more servers and one or more client devices in communication with the one or more servers may be obtained by the CCRM. Based at least in part upon the operational data and the network data, the distribution of resources among the plurality of cloud computing servers may be managed by the CCRM.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a user interface. First, a first input may be received and a currently displayed programming content may be shrunken. Next, the shrunken programming content may be displayed. Then, in response to the received first input and concurrent with the shrunken programming content, a media guide comprising at least three display elements may be displayed. Each one of the three display elements may include a first content element, a second content element, a third content element, a fourth content element, or a fifth content element. The first content element may display available programming channels. The second content element may display programs available on the available programming channels. The third content element may display description information. The fourth content element may display actions that can be taken. The fifth content element may display an advertisement or information relative to one of the actions.

Abstract: Device-to-device call disposition is provided. When a call is received at a first telecommunications device, a determination may be made as to whether a second device has been designated to receive a notification of the inbound call and to allow for call disposition at the second device. At the second device, the user may be notified of the incoming call at the first device, and the user may be provided with a number of options for disposing of the incoming call. While the user is positioned at a location having a wireline or wireless communications device associated with the location, and the user receives a call on his/her personal wireless device, a call to the personal wireless device may be automatically routed to the wireline or wireless device associated with the user's location (e.g., home or office).

Abstract: An end to end content protection system that includes enhanced digital rights management (DRM). The system provides content delivery to devices over a managed multimedia home network. The system includes a domain manager for receiving content, wherein the domain manager includes a cable card, conditional access component and a MSO security application and a managed client device, coupled to and registered with the domain manager, the managed client device running a security DRM application client, the managed client device communicates with the MSO security application in the domain manager, wherein the MSO security application of the domain manager and the security DRM application client of the managed client instantiate a preferred DRM as an overlay on top of any other content protection scheme.

Abstract: A method for paying back customers for unused service units remaining after a billing cycle. A payback amount is determined by the product of the number of unused service units remaining and the payback rate amount. The payback amount credited to the customer is the calculated payback rate or a maximum payback amount, wherever is smaller. A total payback amount can be determined based on a combination of payback amounts for various services, including voice services, texting services, email services, and/or data storage services.

Abstract: A system and method for transmitting and displaying information in a television distribution system (10), or the like, transmits information that is targeted to a viewer matching particular demographic data.

Abstract: In example embodiments of systems and methods of outside plant transport gateway provided herein, instead of locating the gateway/media converter inside the customer premises, the gateway/media converter is located outside the customer premises and may be configured to provide access/media conversion for multiple homes. In previous systems, the gateway/media converter is located in the customer premises. However, the customer premises must be entered to perform maintenance or other work. Moving the gateway/router outside of the customer premises offers easier maintenance at the gateway level.

Abstract: Communication methods between networked cable services system devices are provided. Two or more cable services system set-top boxes may be networked together in a house, business or other facility. Alternatively, two or more set-top boxes may be networked together where the two or more set-top boxes are located remotely from each other and are networked via a cable services system. A first set-top box may be designated and equipped as a proxy server for managing communications between networked set-top boxes and one or more other set-top boxes may be designated and equipped as client devices for communicating with other networked set-top boxes via the proxy server set-top box. One or more communication applications may be deployed on each of the networked set-top boxes for allowing user-to-user communications via the networked set-top boxes, as well as, user-to-set-top box communication via the networked set-top boxes.

Abstract: Provision of non video on demand applications and associated content through a video on demand (VoD) infrastructure is provided. An existing VoD application may be used to allow services other than traditional VoD services to be provided to a requesting networked device, such as a cable system set-top box. Applications may be provided by remote application servers acting as VoD servers. Remote content or applications may be requested by a client VoD application, wherein the requested content may be streamed to the requesting device, and a personalized client experience may be provided. The thin VoD client application may interact with the remote application as if the content were VoD content. Accordingly, normal VoD command functionality may be utilized to interact with the remote application.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing broadband services having dynamic resource allocation are described herein. Example embodiments of the systems involve communication of information between one or more of content provider server(s), a backbone data communication network, a telecommunication service provider broadband distribution network, and one or more subscriber interface device(s) that allocate resources upon request in connection with the delivery of a broadband service. Each device along a data communication path between a service requesting subscriber interface device and content provider server may be enabled for and uses the Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP).

If memory storage is available to record the content asset, the asset may be recorded. According to an example embodiment of the invention, a method is provide for managing digital content from one or more sources for multimedia on demand (MOD). The method can include receiving a rights token associated with the digital content; retrieving the digital content based at least in part on the received rights token; translating the digital content for MOD delivery when the digital content is not available in a MOD format; and preparing a unified listing of available content comprising the digital content, from one or more of internal sources, content ecosystems, or third parties.

Next, in response to the user initiated input, a currently displayed point in the content program may be jumped from to a time stamped point in the content program. The content program may then be displayed from the time stamped point.

Abstract: A system for causing the simultaneous, or near simultaneous, receipt by multiple pre-identified communication termination endpoints of electronic messages sent at times respectively delayed relative to one another and inviting each of the communication termination endpoints to join a communication session. The system receives identification of associated communication termination endpoints that are to receive, at substantially the same time, electronic messages to join a communication session. The system determines and stores send time delays for each such communication termination endpoint that are calculated by a respectively appropriate method.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing third party call services with the delivery of content to a calling party communication device are described herein. The systems may comprise a website server and telco gateway configured to enable a calling party to initiate a communication session between a calling party communication device and a called party communication device via a web page of a website hosted by the website server. During establishment of the communication session, the telco gateway determines what content to deliver to the calling party communication device and delivers such content to the calling party communication device while waiting to receive an answer of a call initiated to the called party communication device. The system may deliver different forms of content to a calling party communication device based on a variety of considerations.
