  • Patent number: 4296715
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and devices for improving the external cooling of an exhaust valve of internal combustion engines. This method consists in extending the open period of the exhaust valve beyond the normal closing instant by preventing it from closing completely at that instant but by reducing the free flow section between the valve and its seat to a residual value which is substantially constant and small compared to the maximum flow section corresponding to the full opening of the valve. Said devices comprise means for obtaining such residual opening of the exhaust valve.

  • Patent number: 4295599
Abstract: An expanding file box includes a flat bottom panel and a pair of hollow side walls extending upwardly from each side of the bottom panel. The side walls have front and rear entrance openings leading into the interior thereof. The file box also includes flat front and rear panels connected to the front and rear edges, respectively, of the bottom panel to each pivot between a closed substantially vertical position and an open, outwardly tilted position. With the front and rear panels in open position, files or cards located within the box can be tilted relative to each other so that substantially the entire front face of the file is visible. The front panel includes a front sliding panel extending rearwardly from each side edge portion of the front panel to slidably extend into the hollow interior of a corresponding side wall to pivot with the front panel to form an extension of the side walls when the front panel is tilted in open position.

  • Patent number: 4295465
Abstract: A blade for a layrngoscope. The blade comprises a base portion and a projecting flange portion. The flange portion extends along part of the base portion and is pivotably mounted with respect thereto. Biasing means provide a preselected bias force on the flange portion to hold the flange portion in its projecting position. • Patent number: 4295480
Abstract: A comb includes a hollow frame having a pair of fixed teeth at opposite ends thereof, and a cap having a depending body portion disposed within the hollow interior of the frame. A series of transversely extending open slots in one longitudinally extending side planar face of the body portion receives individually a series of axially rotatable rod-like teeth. Each one of the open slots is four-sided in cross-sectional shape, and the fourth side is open in the plane of the face. The depth of the slots is greater than the thickness of the teeth so that the teeth fit entirely within the slots. In one embodiment of the present invention, the teeth are made by rotating axially rod stock and moving a cutter having the configuration of the desired shape of the teeth into cutting engagement with the rod stock.

  • Patent number: 4293153
Abstract: A spring steel spring interlocked with a panelboard assembly door by a pull having a leg projecting through the door to engage a passage edge in the spring. When the pull is rotated to open the door the leg moves the spring to disengage a latch adjacent one end of the spring from behind a detent in a frame latch passage. The detent in the frame passage engages the latch to hold the door from rapid opening, if a circuit breaker trips to generate arc gases which exert pressure against the door, but permits separation of the door from the frame and flexure of the door to vent arc gases.

  • Patent number: 4293049
Abstract: Field of the invention: filling machine industry.Device consisting of a lever made up of two arms arranged on each side of a fixed pivoting axis. The end of the first arm supports the end of a rod, movable axially and vertically to rotate the arm and ending at the other end in a load-carrying platform moving downwards as the load increases. The end of the second arm, consisting of two parts pivoting about a movable axis, carries a counter-weight and by sliding along the pivoting part on a fixed axis may itself slide along a straight inclinable rail. By suitable selection of both the weight of the counter-weight and the slope of the straight rail, the lever is balanced at the same time in two positions, one corresponding to zero load on the platform and the other to a predetermined load placed on the platform, there being substantial equilibrium in intermediate positions.Use: Metering of bulk products discharged into containers by filling machines.
