  • Patent number: 4174052
Abstract: An economical and easy to operate mechanically operated dispensing device has a rotatable actuator connected with at least one expansible chamber to effect operation of the expansible chamber to draw material to be dispensed from a container into the expansible chamber and to then pressurize the material. An expansible bulb is connected with the expansible chamber and with a dispensing nozzle, and has a volumetric capacity several times as great as the expansible chamber. Valves are associated with the bulb to control flow into and out of the bulb, whereby the rotatable actuator and expansible chamber are operative to repeatedly draw material from the container, pressurize it and transfer it under pressure into the bulb, the bulb expanding as material is added thereto, and the elasticity of the bulb being such as to exert a substantial pressure on the material in the bulb.

  • Patent number: 4174055
Abstract: A non-aerosol pressure dispenser includes a pressurization chamber having a piston reciprocable therein and a manual actuator extends from outside the chamber into operative association with the piston. The actuator is reciprocable in a first direction to move the piston to compress a spring engaged therewith and to draw material into the chamber. The spring urges the piston in a second direction to pressurize the material in the chamber and a discharge valve or nozzle is connected with the chamber to release the pressurized contents thereof over a desired prolonged period of time and at a sufficient pressure to obtain a fine mist of the material.

  • Patent number: 4173414
Abstract: The invention relates to the aiming of an optical illuminator on a target. The direction in which is seen the maximum light of the illuminator reflected by the target is detected, the angle formed by this direction and the direction of sight is measured and the result of this measurement is employed for controlling an orientation of the optical axis of the illuminator or of the optical axis of the sighting system, with the result that the direction in which is seen this maximum coincides with the optical axis of the sighting system. The invention is particularly applied to the sending of a moving body, provided with an optical, self-directing system, onto a target.

  • Patent number: 4172436
Abstract: A carburettor for an internal combustion engine comprises an air valve and a driver-actuatable throttle in an induction pipe. The air valve controls proportioning means metering the flow rate of fuel drawn into the induction pipe downstream of the main throttle means via a discharge orifice. A fuel pressure regulator is disposed between the fuel proportioning means and the discharge orifice for controlling the pressure of the fuel discharged into the induction pipe and comprises a valve actuated by a diaphragm one face of which limits a control chamber communicated with that portion of the induction pipe located between the throttle and the air valve. The other surface is subjected to the fuel pressure prevailing upstream of the valve.

  • Patent number: 4173007
Abstract: A dynamically variable electronic delay line for real time ultrasonic imaging systems is disclosed so as to controllably phase the signals associated with an array of electro-mechanical transducer elements and thereby enable the selective scanning and dynamic focusing of a target. A controllable variable electronic time delay apparatus is coupled to each of the electromechanical transducer elements of the array and in one embodiment thereof constitutes an electronic memory having separate write-in and read-out addressing capabilities. The signals associated with a respective ultrasonic transducer element are fed in at selected write-in addresses and subsequently read-out and extracted after an initial time delay interval. The write-in and read-out address pointers of the memory are continuously sequenced during operation of the device and the time delay interval is a function of the difference between the addresses, as well as the clock rate.

  • Patent number: 4172628
Abstract: A push-in type pressure lock terminal for electrical receptacles wherein the bared end of various diameter sized conductors may be inserted into a recess in the receptacle for connection with the internal conductive element thereof, and which is then held therein by a restraint element against withdrawal until the restraint is released. The restraint element comprises a double-action cantilever spring integrally formed from the internal conductive bus element of the receptacle. The double-action spring deflects over a relatively wide range within a limited space within the receptacle to thereby accommodate a range of various diameter sized conductors without causing an objectionable permanent set to occur in the spring. The cantilever spring produces a double-action deflection in the direction of insertion when a wire conductor is inserted and bears against such free end.
