Abstract: The reaction of 1-(halo/cyano/sulfonyloxy)alkanoyl-2-(dibenzoxazepine-10-carbonyl)hydrazin es with an amine affords the corresponding 1-(substituted amino)alkanoyl-2-(dibenzoxazepine-10-carbonyl)hydrazines which compounds are useful anti-inflammatory or anti-diarrheal agents.

Abstract: There are disclosed novel lubricating compositions containing a major proportion of a lubricating oil and a minor proportion of an oil soluble polymer additive, and possibly other additives, wherein said polymer additive is a copolymer of ethylene, a monoolefin having 3 to 6 carbon atoms or a monoolefin having 3 to 6 carbon atoms and a non-conjugated diene with one or more specific nitrogenous monomers, said polymer having a reduced viscosity, measured in decalin at 135.degree. C., comprised between 0.5 and 2 and a polydispersity lower than 5.Such a polymer additive improves the oil viscosity index while ensuring the dispersion of the slurry it may contain.

Abstract: The specification discloses fender extensions which have inner flanges fitting inside and fastening to the inwardly turned flanges of motor vehicle fenders. The inner flanges press edges of outer, cover portions of the extensions tightly against the sides of the fenders. In an alternate embodiment, the inner flange is stepped to provide a shoulder abutting the side of the fender as an aid for proper positioning.

Brake actuation is provided by either hydraulically or manually rotating an actuating plate which, through a roller/ramp structure, moves a piston structure, causing braking engagement of the reaction discs and friction discs.

Abstract: A class of pyridazine derivatives useful as antidepressants and mood elevators when used in medicine of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group;R.sub.2 is an aryl group such as phenyl or naphthyl or substituted phenyl and N is 2 or 3.Y and Z may be the same or different lower alkyl groups or taken together with the nitrogen atom form a heterocyclic ring wherein Z and Y are lower alkylene radicals cyclized in a ring which contains an oxygen atom linked between them and the other ends of the alkylene chain link to the nitrogen atom. The invention also includes non-toxic acid addition salts thereof suitable for pharmaceutical use and methods for their administration and use as therapeutic agents for humans.

Abstract: An industrial type switch having modular parts which may be assembled so the switch may be used in a wide range of installations. The switch includes a differential module which is easily adjustable to operate over a selected range of pressures, a plug-in snap switch module so the switch may be easily wired and serviced, a range module so the response of the switch to pressures within a range may be readily accomplished, and any one of a plurality of different type actuator modules which are mountable on the exterior of the switch so the switch may be used in a large variety of different type installations.

Abstract: A mechanism for transmitting movement of an operating handle located at the exterior of an enclosure to an operating handle of a circuit breaker mounted within the enclosure. The mechanism includes components which may be adjusted so the operating handle and circuit breaker may be vertically spaced varying distances from each other and adjustments which will compensate for manufacturing tolerance deviations in the externally mounted operating handle and the circuit breaker which will cause the two operating handles to move concurrently to their two full operating positions.

Abstract: A separating apparatus for separating objects of a particular kind from a stream of falling objects e.g. for use in crop harvesting comprising a movable separating member which is alternately held stationary in a first position to deflect objects of the particular kind in one direction and moved to a second position to allow other objects to fall in another direction wherein the separating member is moved between its first and second positions in such a manner, e.g. with an essentially reciprocating motion, that the volume swept by the separating member in the path of the falling objects is comparable with the volume of the separating member itself so that objects can follow one another at a close spacing without preventing satisfactory separating action.

Abstract: The invention relates to a semi-permeable membrane for lead-acid batteries. The membrane has a microporous structure comprising a first polymer and a second polymer closely mixed together, the first polymer being poly (2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate), known as reticulated poly HEMA, characterized by the fact that the second polymer comprises one polymer or a mixture of several different polymers chosen from among polyoxyethylene glycol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyacrylic acid, polymethacrylic acid, copolymers of acrylic and methacrylic acid, polyacrylates and polymethacrylates of alkyl, and the copolymers of the acrylates and methacrylates of alkyls.

Abstract: An apparatus for enhancing chemical reactions in a constantly flowing stream of liquid character fortified with oxidizing agents, such as air or oxygen or other chemical agents, makes use of an inner resonant tube concentrically mounted within an outer resonant tube with the walls of the tubes spaced from each other forming an annular passageway for the flow of liquid from one end of the passageway to the other. One or more sets of radially spaced ultrasonic transducers are located on the outside wall of the outer resonant tube thereby to create an ultrasonic cavitation condition in the liquid as it flows through the annular passageway.

Abstract: The invention provides a method and apparatus for measuring and recording the amount of solar energy falling at a place over a given period of time, comprising means for producing a frequency signal representative of the energy falling at the place, the provision of the frequency signal being controlled in response to the level of solar energy falling exceeding a morning threshold and falling below an evening threshold, and the frequency signal being applied to a counter, preferably fitted with print-out means, whereby the counter may record the total energy falling between the morning and evening thresholds.

Abstract: A disc brake including a hydraulic actuator and a mechanical actuator is disclosed. The hydraulic actuator comprises a piston and the mechanical actuator comprises a push rod adapted to engage said piston through a self adjusting device, said adjusting device including a nut received on a threaded rod associated to said push rod, a thrust bearing capable to rotate said nut relative to said push rod on movement of said piston in a brake applying direction, and a clutch spring adapted to prevent rotation of the nut in the opposite direction. The thrust bearing comprises a cage which cooperates with the piston through a circumferential lost-motion connection adapted to limit rotation of said nut relative to said threaded rod to a predetermined angle on each hydraulic brake application.

Abstract: A device for gripping and transferring a fabric material such as a canvas sack or the wrapper of a bale is disclosed comprising a carriage movable on a rail and on which is mounted a gripping assembly. The gripping assembly includes a disc having engagement tines disposed thereon which is driven by a low torque motor. The operations of lowering the discs for engagement of the fabric, engagement and transfer of the fabric are integrated for sequential action.
