  • Patent number: 4093828
Abstract: A switching network comprises a matrix of cross-point switches disposed in a pattern at selected ones of the cross-points in an array of mutually othogonal inlets and outlets. The pattern of selected cross-points is built up from a rectangular array of basic layouts each comprising eight cross-point switches distributed among the 16 cross-points which is formed by a group of four consecutive inlets crossing a row of four consecutive outlets. There are two types of basic layout: an A-type having its switches at the outer cross-points of its odd numbered lines and at the inner cross-points of its even numbered lines, and a B-type having its switches at the other cross-points. The basic layouts are disposed in a binary pattern over the matrix such that the matrix has a first line of alternating types of layout, a second line of alternating pairs of layout types etc.; each n-th line having its layouts in sets 2.sup.n-1 layouts of each type.

  • Patent number: 4092992
Abstract: Large hollow curved beams and arches are inexpensively produced by curving individual shallow components, such as channels, that are then tiered to form a large laminated member. Smaller beams or arches can be made by tiering the components, curving them all at one time, then fastening them together. Individual layers of curved components are usually fastened together consecutively or in multiple laminations to construct a member with a much higher moment of inertia than the sum of the moments of inertia of the layers in a non-fastened state.

  • Patent number: 4092380
Abstract: A carburetor for an internal combustion engine has a circuit for delivering a primary air/fuel mixture into the induction passage and means for correcting the richness of the airfuel mixture in dependence of the amplitude of the alternating component of the depression which prevails in operation in the induction passage. The correction device has a movable member which meters an air or fuel flow cross-sectional area in the circuit. The position of the movable member is controlled in dependence of the alternating component by a pressure sensitive diaphragm. A frequency filter connects the induction passage and chambers separated by the diaphragm for dampening the alternating component of the depression by an amount which increases with the frequency of that component.

  • Patent number: 4091619
Abstract: The invention relates to a servomotor for assisting the operation of a power brake system. The servomotor includes in a housing a power-assisting part and a part forming a hydraulic master-cylinder. The power-assisting part is adapted in use to be connected to an external power source such as a vacuum source. A valve assembly operated by an operator-operated intake member controls the generation of a pressure differential across a driving piston by allowing air to replace the vacuum on one side of the piston. The master-cylinder part includes an assembly having two coaxial pistons. The first piston is attached to the driving piston of the power assist part whereas the second piston is actuated by the intake member. Both coaxial pistons project into a chamber which is divided by a sealing ring. The central piston is adapted to pass through the sealing ring in response to an input force from the input member to further pressurize the fluid in the outlet portion of the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4091777
Abstract: A control circuit for delivering control signals to interrupt admission of the fuel-air mixture in the low speed and idle circuit of the carburetor of an internal combustion engine. The control circuit is operated according to the engine operating conditions. The control signal is delivered in response to comparison of a signal whose level is representative of the positive or negative variations in the duration of an engine cycle with a substantially periodic signal to generate a pulse shaped signal. The width of the pulses increases when the vehicle is accelerating and decreases when the vehicle is decelerating.
