Patent number: 11585222Abstract: A cryogenic oil-free direct drive turbogenerator for gas liquefaction plant applications is described. The pressure energy from cryogenic gas is expanded through a turbine and the power generated is converted into electricity through a directly driven generator and a power electronics arrangement. The machinery can withstand very cold temperature operation (e.g., <?425° F.) by isolating the cold turbine side from the warmer side of the machine turbine end and has a hermetically sealed design wherein the process gas is fully contained from leaking at operating pressures. A unique gas injection scheme uses seal gas segregation, thrust bearing cooling and pressure balance for thrust control which is accomplished through a pressure regulator arrangement. Also described is an algorithm for speed control and overspeed protection through the power electronics system. The rotating components of the turbogenerator are supported on foil gas bearings for oil-free operation eliminating extraneous lubrication.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 2022Date of Patent: February 21, 2023Assignee: R&D Dynamics CorporationInventors: Muthusamy Rajendran, Charles William Buckley, Giridhari L. Patent number: 11586915Abstract: Collaborative filtering systems based on variational autoencoders (VAEs) are provided. VAEs may be trained on row-wise data without necessarily training a paired VAE on column-wise data (or vice-versa), and may optionally be trained via minibatches. The row-wise VAE models the output of the corresponding column-based VAE as a set of parameters and uses these parameters in decoding. In some implementations, a paired VAE is provided which receives column-wise data and models row-wise parameters; each of the paired VAEs may bind their learned column- or row-wise parameters to the output of the corresponding VAE. The paired VAEs may optionally be trained via minibatches. Unobserved data may be explicitly modelled. Methods for performing inference with such VAE-based collaborative filtering systems are also disclosed, as are example applications to search and anomaly detection.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2018Date of Patent: February 21, 2023Assignee: D-WAVE SYSTEMS INC.Inventors: William G. Patent number: 11579147Abstract: Sarcomas are rare malignant tumors arising from the mesenchymal tissues at all body sites. The inventors show that in a mouse model of p16/p19 deficiency prone to tumor development, the absence of the mouse pantetheinase Vnn1 enhances the frequency of aggressive fibrosarcomas. They also show that reintroduction of a catalytically active form of the Vnn1 pantetheinase limits tumor growth in vivo. Interestingly, VNN1 expression in human sarcomas is associated with reduced aggressiveness and lower risk of metastatic relapse in patients. In conclusion, Vnn1 represents a novel marker of sarcoma and may modulate tumor aggressiveness by sustaining myofibroblast cell differentiation, thereby limiting evolution towards undifferentiated tumors. The present invention relates to the use of Vnn1 as a biomarker and a therapeutic target in sarcomas.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2018Date of Patent: February 14, 2023Assignees: INSERM (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale), Université d'Aix Marseille, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Université Claude Bernard, Centre Leon BernardInventors: Philippe Naquet, Franck Galland, Virginie Millet, Jean-Yves Blay, Caroline Giessner
