Abstract: An exhaust manifold for conducting exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine including a collection pipe structure having branches with engine flanges at their ends for mounting to cylinder outlet ports of the engine and an outlet flange at the downstream end of the pipe structure for connection to an exhaust pipe. The collection pipe structure has in the area of the branches a cross-section with different diameters for first and second cross-sectional directions which are normal to each other so as to form a drop-like or oval cross-sectional area which, in a downstream direction, continuously changes until the two diameters are equal providing for a circular shape at the end of the collection pipe structure adjacent the outlet flange.
Abstract: A layer construction with an organic layer and a transparent cover layer which covers the organic layer and which is harder than the organic layer, and a process for producing such a layer construction in which the cover layer is deposited on the surface of the organic layer from a precursor material present in the gas phase. In order to improve the optical quality of the layer construction, the cover layer, at least in a transition region between the organic layer and the cover layer, is deposited with an index of refraction which differs by a maximum of 20%, in particular by a maximum of 10%, from the index of refraction of the underlying organic layer.

Abstract: A digital method for detecting pulses of short duration. During this process, a threshold value is formed using FIR filters with the assistance of a detection method similar to one in radar technology, by means of which threshold value short pulses to be detected can be distinguished from, in contrast, long pulses. The cut-off length of the pulses to be detected can be set in further ranges by way of simple parameter changes in the circuit. An arrangement for implementing the method is also disclosed.
Abstract: The invention provides a process for dynamically adjusting the power of an electric driving unit of a vehicle which is supplied with electric energy by a fuel cell, the power of the fuel cell or the provided fuel cell current being controlled by means of the supplied air volume flow. The air volume flow is adjusted by the rotational speed of a compressor, a desired rotational speed value being predetermined for the compressor based on an accelerator pedal demand. Simultaneously, based on the measured air flow volume, the actually available fuel cell current is determined and therefrom a corrected accelerator pedal demand is determined. During the starting operation, the accelerator pedal demand is supplied directly to the driving unit, whereas, at higher rotational speeds, it is limited by the corrected accelerator pedal demand.
Abstract: An arrangement for monitoring a two-wire bus line for serial transmission of digital data includes a bus subscriber receiving circuit coupled to the two-wire line and including three comparators each having two inputs and an output for producing a logical output signal in dependence of signals at the two inputs. A signal line voltage on each wire of the two-wire bus line is applied, respectively, to the two inputs of a first one of the comparators and one of the two signal line voltages, an auxiliary voltage is applied, respectively, to the two inputs of a second one of the comparators and the other of the two signal line voltages and an auxiliary voltage being applied, respectively, to the two inputs of a third one of the comparators.

Abstract: Process and apparatus for methanol reforming in producing hydrogen gas for electric vehicle fuel cells in which the gas mixture to be reformed is passed through a catalyst-containing reaction compartment. The active length and/or the active inlet cross-section of an intake-side reaction compartment section which is temperature-controlled for high methanol conversion can be set as a function of the throughput of gas mixture to be reformed. Thereby, an essentially constant residence period of the gas mixture to be reformed results in the reaction compartment section which is temperature-controlled for high methanol conversion. The methanol reforming may thus be carried out even in the case of markedly fluctuating throughputs of gas mixture to be reformed with a constant level of methanol conversion rate and constantly low formation of undesirable carbon monoxide.

Abstract: A water supply system for an aircraft includes a ventilatable water tank, a water supply line to supply water to water-using devices such as galleys and handwash basins, fill and drain lines, and a multi-function valve for carrying out filling and draining, and other system functions. The multi-function valve is interposed between the water tank, the water supply line, the fill line, and the drain line. The valve includes a filling port connected to the filling line, a tank port connected to the water tank, a supply port connected to the supply line, a drain port connected to the drain line, and preferably also a tank overflow port and an outside overflow port. The valve includes a shut-off element arranged within a housing, wherein the shut-off element has therein a water passage which includes first, second, and third branches, and preferably also an air passage.
Abstract: The invention relates to analog circuits which are constructed as fed-back amplifier networks. The networking is implemented such that the output values of the individual amplifier elements are fed back to the input values of the respective adjacent amplifier elements. The degree of feedback can be statically and dynamically adjusted according to the specific application. Two-dimensional networks with such an architecture can be used, for example, in image processing for the interference reduction under real-time conditions.

Abstract: Cooling of engine walls with fuel, wherein the walls have a structure which has an inner wall, to which hot gas is admitted during the operation, a colder outer wall, as well as a plurality of webs which connect the walls and divide the hollow space present there into a plurality of cooling ducts.The fuel is introduced in the cold state into the wall structure, is delivered through the cooling ducts while absorbing heat via the inner wall, and is subsequently used to generate thrust.A hot fluid flow taken from the engine is admitted during the operation from the outside to the "cold" outer wall of the wall structure, through which fuel flows, and this "cold" outer wall thermally expands as a result, or its thermal contraction is reduced.
Abstract: A method and a system meters a supply of methanol and/or water out of a storage reservoir to a fuel-cell system by way of a conveying conduit with a metering valve. A constant mass flow is conveyed out of the storage reservoir into the conveying conduit via a conveying pump. The differential pressure between the conveying conduit and fuel-cell system is set at a predetermined value via a differential-pressure controller which is arranged in a return conduit provided between the conveying conduit and storage reservoir. The methanol and/or water supplied can be set, for example, by varying the opening and closing times of a solenoid valve. A second metering stage can be provided in the return conduit downstream of the first metering stage. When two separate metering systems are used, a common pump motor can be employed.

Abstract: In a curve-leaning vehicle whose vehicle body is leaning inwardly when the vehicle is negotiating a curve, the vehicle body is supported on an axle frame for pivoting about a longitudinal vehicle body axis.
