  • Patent number: 6004099
Abstract: The helicopter rotor blade connection has a support beam which connects the lift-generating wing section of the rotor blade with the rotor hub, and transmits centrifugal and lateral forces as well as bending and torsional moments. The connection is torsionally elastic and, at least in a main plane, bending elastic. A damping device for damping bending vibrations of the support beam is constructed alternately of elastomer layers and intermediate layers which are stiff in the direction of their extension. According to the invention, the damping device consists of a plurality of separate individual dampers which are arranged with their elastomer and intermediate layers in the direction of the main bending plane of the support beam.

  • Patent number: 6005304
Abstract: A device for the contactless inductive transmission of electric energy to a movable consumer has a stationary primary circuit designed as an arrangement of elongated parallel leads connected to a source of high frequency alternating voltage or current and a transmission head arranged on the movable consumer. The transmission head consists of a ferrite core and of a secondary winding that surrounds the ferrite core and is magnetically coupled to the primary circuit. The primary circuit lead arrangement has an outer lead designed as an almost closed housing (7) and a middle lead (6) arranged approximately at the center of the housing. The current (11) that flows in the outer lead has the same intensity but an opposite flow direction to the current in the middle lead. The middle lead (6) is surrounded by a U-shaped ferrite core (2) that carries the secondary winding (W.sub.2).

  • Patent number: 5996941
Abstract: An attitude controller for a 3-axis stabilized, Earth oriented bias momentum spacecraft is described, where only 2-axis attitude measurements from the Earth sensor are available. In contrast to the classical spacecrafts that are controlled w.r.t. a fixed orbital Earth pointing reference frame, (possibly large angle) time varying reference signals are considered here, i.e. the control task consists of a tracking problem. The controller design consists of a decoupling controller and axis-related PID controllers based on yaw observer estimates.

  • Patent number: 5984389
Abstract: The invention concerns a bumper for a motor vehicle which is constructed mainly of molded plastic parts and optically appears to be part of the vehicle body. The bumper consists mainly of a support part (10) extending across the vehicle, three absorbing elements (12, 14, 14') that can be inserted into the support part, and an elastic exterior shell (16). On the lateral end sections, the support part (10) has lateral shells (22, 22') which extend between the lateral absorbing elements (14, 14') and the exterior shell (16). In a collision, the lateral shells (22, 22') yield backwards under the deformation of the absorbing elements (14, 14'), so that components attached to the lateral shells are protected from damage.

  • Patent number: 5977751
Abstract: A battery monitoring unit is provided with a semiconductor power switch, which is looped into the battery lead and can serve for interrupting the battery current in a controlled manner. The battery monitoring unit comprises a sense FET circuit arrangement, which determines the battery current bidirectionally and the power FET part of which forms the semiconductor power switch, which is looped into the battery lead. Aside from the controllable interruption of battery current, a bidirectional determination of battery current and, with that, a continuous monitoring of the charge state of the battery is possible with this circuit arrangement, and can be used for monitoring vehicle batteries.

  • Patent number: 5978735
Abstract: A satellite navigation method for a mobile station which is installed, in particular, in a traffic route-guided vehicle. Several reference marks are installed along the traffic route at predetermined distances from one another, with the geographic positions of the reference marks being known or supplied to a mobile station passing a reference mark. The reference marks are detected by a reading device which is disposed in the mobile station. At the location of a reference mark and at the moment of its detection, the actual ranges and the pseudoranges from all satellites that are relevant for navigation are determined simultaneously and are compared. The measuring error change of the satellite navigation or the adjustment of the correction value maybe carried out with the aid of a velocity indicator and a route map mounted on the mobile station. From these, correction values are derived which are used for a pseudorange correction outside of the range of the reference marks.

  • Patent number: 5969677
Abstract: A direction-finding method for determining an incident angle of a high-frequency electromagnetic signal in a system including at least two receiving antennas spaced apart by a known distance. the antenna output signals of the at least two receiving antennas are converted, together (in accordance with a multiplexing procedure) or individually, into the frequency domain through a Fourier transformation, followed by a conversion into an IF range and an A/D conversion. In this range, the phase difference between the output signals is determined and the signal frequency of the incident wave is determined through a phase-sequence analysis. The incident angle of the incident wave is determined from the phase difference and the signal frequency.

  • Patent number: 5964680
Abstract: An automated clutch between the engine and the variable-speed transmission in the power train of a motor vehicle is operated by a control unit which receives signals from several circuits and/or sensors via one or more conductors. The control unit shifts from a normal operating mode to an emergency mode when one or more sensors and/or circuits and/or conductors are defective. When in emergency mode, the control unit disengages the clutch when the driver starts the engine while the vehicle brake or the parking brake is applied. This ensures that the engine can drive the vehicle as soon as the transmission is shifted into a forward gear or into reverse gear and the application of the brake or brakes is terminated because the control unit is then again free to engage the clutch. Furthermore, such mode of operation enables the driver to shift the transmission into or from a selected gear in response to the application of a relatively small force to the gear shifting lever.

  • Patent number: 5957499
Abstract: The invention relates to a seat belt for vehicle seats with a webbing secured endwise at anchoring points in the vehicle, said webbing assuming a storage position when the seat is unoccupied, and with a tongue displaceable on the webbing within a webbing segment, said tongue being secured in a belted-in position by inserting it in a belt buckle integral with the vehicle when the seat is occupied. To ensure a favorable gripping position for the tongue in the storage position of the seat belt and to avoid rattling noises caused by the tongue against parts of the body, a pocket for inserting the tongue is disposed on the webbing in an area that is readily accessible to a seat occupant when the webbing is in the stored position.
