  • Patent number: 4971376
Abstract: A bumper for vehicles, with a symmetrically backswept rail, is supported on a skeleton member of the vehicle body via shock absorbing arrangement. To simplify the construction by use of so called foam systems, and at the same time ensuring a high system efficiency, the shock absorbing arrangement is formed by an impact damper extending over the rail length and made of energy absorbing (EA) foam. Arranged in the midle of the bumper is a regenerable shock absorber which works on the positive displacement principle, passes through local clearances in an impact damper and in the rail and is supported on the skeleton member and on a trim shell engaging at a distance round the rail. An impact strip made of EA foam is inserted between the trim shell and the rail.

  • Patent number: 4971308
Abstract: In the case of a sliding cover of a motor vehicle slide-and-lift roof, said sliding cover being composed of transparent material and being provided with a rim moulded on integrally at the edge, said sliding cover accommodates a reinforcing frame having a peripheral integral moulding. To ensure that parts associated with the reinforcing frame do not detract from the external appearance, the integral moulding is in each case designed as a screen running in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and projecting towards the vehicle interior.

  • Patent number: 4969664
Abstract: In a vertically displaceable safety belt fitting, to ensure that, even when high displacement forces occur, a first catch element of the slideably displaceable anchoring element received by a guide rail fixed to the vehicle body executes a downwardly directed movement after it has run up against an associated pawl and after an actuating button has been released, whereby, when the button is depressed again, the first catch element becomes capable of moving the associated pawl away, it is proposed to equip a release element carrying the first catch element with an upwardly directed slot on the same side as the bearing and to provide the release element with a spring which engages on the top side of the release element.

  • Patent number: 4969727
Abstract: An outside mirror for motor vehicles employs an electromotive drive to position a mirror housing between a viewing position and garage position. The mirror housing is moved in a direction opposite to the direction of travel against the vehicle body to position the housing at the garage position however, a mobility of the mirror housing in the event of collisions in both directions is provided so that the mirror housing automatically returning to the viewing position in the case of movements in the direction of travel.

  • Patent number: 4967865
Abstract: The supplementary steering system operates automatically as a function of the change of the transverse velocity (v.sub.y) of the vehicle to provide compensation steering movements to stabilize a vehicle in skidding situations. The system relies on the fact that a great increase invehicle transverse velocity is characteristic of skidding movements. Critical travel conditions can be stabilized by a rapid reaction to the change of transverse velocity. Under steady travel conditions, i.e., when only a negligible change of transverse vehicle velocity occurs, the supplementary steering system is not actuated, or is reset to its central position.

  • Patent number: 4964676
Abstract: A fail safe control for a brake unit with an integral hydraulic brake booster for a road vehicle with a hydraulic dual-circuit braking system having a static front-axle brake circuit and a static rear-axle brake circuit connected respectively to primary and a secondary outlet-pressure space. The primary outlet-pressure space is delimited, by a piston element of the primary-piston arrangement and is in constant communicating connection with a second part space which is delimited by a secondary piston and by two piston elements which are displaceable relative to one another. One of these two piston elements is designed as an annular piston and the second as a plunger piston. A yoke-shaped first axial-force transmission element couples the primary piston with only one of the two piston elements.

  • Patent number: 4965555
Abstract: In a device for monitoring the liquid level in a tank, utilizing a reed switch projecting into the tank in an internally cylindrical hollow rod and a float provided with a permanent magnet and guided on the hollow rod, the reed switch is constructed as an independent exchangeable part introducible into the hollow rod with an accurate fit and with a small assembly outlay. The slide-in part has three radially resilient abutment zones distributed uniformly around the circumference. In order to accurately introduce the slide-in part into the hollow rod, with a minimum of force, three axial guide grooves associated with the resilient abutment zones are formed radially outwards in the inner envelope surface of the hollow rod. In order to achieve the final accurate fit, the slide-in part, introduced completely into the hollow rod, is rotated until the resilient abutment zones are located in regions between the guide grooves of the hollow rod.

  • Patent number: 4964445
Abstract: An apparatus for filling a liquid friction pump with a liquid comprises a metering pump and plug connector means for connection to the liquid friction coupling. During a testing of the filling ratio of the liquid friction pump it may be necessary not only to supply viscous liquid to said coupling but also to withdraw viscous liquid from such coupling. For that purpose the plug connector means are preceded by a manifold, which communicates with two nonreturn valves, which normally prevent a flow of liquid from said manifold through said valves. A discharge line from the metering pump communicates with a first of said nonreturn valves. The second nonreturn valve is incorporated in a return line leading from said manifold to a reservoir, from which the metering pump is adapted to suck liquid. Said second nonreturn valve is adapted to be opened preferably by the application of pneumatic pressure for a flow in said return line from said manifold through said second valve to said reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4962643
Abstract: The invention relates to a soot-particle filter which is arranged in the exhaust-line system of an internal-combustion engine and which can be bypassed by means of a bypass line closable under full load. So that the vehicle can accelerate smoothly out of low speed ranges under full-load conditions, even when the filter is clogged, the bypass line is opened only when the speed of the internal-combustion engine is below a first speed limit value during its warm-up phase, when the speed of the internal-combustion engine is below a second speed limit value under hot-running conditions, and when, with the soot-particle filter clogged, the internal-combustion engine load is simultaneously below a predetermined load limit.

  • Patent number: 4962605
Abstract: A firearm, particularly a piston, is provided with a trigger mechanism, which comprises a spring-loaded trigger rod, a trigger for moving the trigger rod, and locking means for preventing a movement of the trigger rod other than by an operation of the trigger. The trigger rod is slidably mounted and guided in the receiver of the firearm for a movement along a straight line. The trigger is directly mounted on the trigger rod for a limited pivotal movement. A spring is provided, which biases the trigger for a forward pivotal movement and exerts a forward tensile force on the trigger rod and when the trigger is in its initial position retains a nose of the trigger in a notch of the receiver.

  • Patent number: 4959961
Abstract: The invention concerns a supercharged internal combustion engine in which two inlet ducts, which can be closed by inlet valves and whose flows are separated from one another, and two exhaust ducts which can be closed by exhaust valves enter the combustion space of a cylinder, one inlet duct and one exhaust duct being associated with one exhaust gas turbocharger. In order to achieve both a rapid build-up of supercharge pressure in the case of positive load changes and also an optimum homogenization of the mixture in the combustion space, the two exhaust ducts are also arranged so that their flows are separated and the inlet and exhaust side connected to the same exhaust gas turbocharger can be closed by one shut-off element each.
