  • Patent number: 4895707
Abstract: Meander-shaped exhaust gas ducts pass through a soot burn-off filter made of porous ceramic filter material. Catalytically coated blind ducts branch from each of the outer bends to receive and combust solid combustion residues from the exhaust gases. The residual gases produced in the blind ducts by the oxidation of the combustion residues pass through the filter material into adjacent discharge ducts and are transported from there to the outside of the filter. In this way the exhaust gas ducts remain largely free of solid combustion residues, display no clogging phenomena and therefore keep the exhaust gas backpressure low. This improves the starting behavior of an engine, achieves more favorable warm-up behavior and has a positive influence upon the response behavior of an exhaust gas turbocharger.

  • Patent number: 4893882
Abstract: An antilocking system for a road vehicle with static brake circuits operates on the principle of pressure modulation when brake pressure changes demanded by the control system remain small by changing the volume of a pressure modulator modulation chamber, which can be connected and disconnected to the wheel brake via an inlet valve. If larger brake pressure changes are necessary, the antilocking system operates on the pump-back principle, according to which brake fluid is pumped back via an outlet non-return valve from the modulation chamber into an output pressure space of the brake unit of the brake installation and before a further brake pressure reduction takes place in response to a renewed increase in volume of the modulation chamber. To permit switching from the pressure modulation to pump-back operation, the inlet valve is designed as a spool valve mechanically controlled by a hydraulically driven step piston, which forms the movable boundary of the modulation chamber.

  • Patent number: 4890891
Abstract: An antilock brake system includes a pressure modulator having a step piston. The smaller step defines a primary chamber connected to the wheel brake and the larger piston step defines a driving pressure space that is alternatively connected to the high pressure output of an auxiliary pressure source or to its unpressurized storage reservoir by a control valve. By the admission of pressure to the driving pressure space, the modulator piston, against the restoring force of a strong restoring spring, is forced into its initial position corresponding to the minimum volume of the primary chamber. For a pressure reduction phase, the driving pressure space is connected with the storage reservoir of the auxiliary pressure source, so that, under the combined effect of the brake pressure in the primary chamber and of the restoring spring, the piston moves to expand the volume of the primary chamber.

  • Patent number: 4888454
Abstract: The invention relates to a ground-level multipole current supply system for track-guidable, rubber-tired, electrically propulsive vehicles, wherein extruded aluminum profiles are provided within an electrically insulating duct-like shielding for each pole. To permit the current supply system to be kept small and easily installable the shielding is constructed as a self-supporting extruded profile which is fastened, suspended with ducts open downwards, on support arms. The substantially triangular live rails are retained screwlessly by sliding axially behind beads in the shielding. A vee-shaped arrangement of the contact tracks of the two live rails and of the two contact pieces on the current collector side exerts a self-centering influence upon the current collector head, so that the latter can be of simple construction and only little play need be provided for relative movements between current collector head and live rails.

  • Patent number: 4886140
Abstract: A device for controlling at least one variable influencing the drive torque of a motor vehicle uses the difference between acceleration of a driven wheel and the vehicle longitudinal acceleration as a control variable. The exceeding of a slip threshold within specific time windows after the driven wheel speed has fallen below the threshold or after increasing the drive torque is used as a check for the correct dosage of drive torque and the slip threshold itself is adjusted depending on the vehicle longitudinal acceleration. This permits an optimum propulsive acceleration and the control device to adapt to changing road conditions.

  • Patent number: 4886251
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulically damping rubber bearing engine mount for motor vehicles, having two end walls lying opposite one another in the axial direction and two chambers which are designed as a pressure and an auxiliary chamber and which contain a damping fluid and are connected to one another by a restricted orifice. An annular, rubber-elastic spring element adjoins the pressure chamber and is secured on an end wall. A compensating chamber adjoins the auxiliary chamber and is separated from the latter by a bellows. The damping characteristics of the rubber bearing are alterable by intervention from outside. In order to be able to alter the damping effect of the rubber bearing continuously right up to complete cancellation, a diaphragm is clamped fluid-tightly in the pressure chamber and is loaded on the one side by the damping fluid and on the other side by compressed air which can be fed in from outside.

  • Patent number: 4886252
Abstract: A hydraulically damping rubber bearing, usable as an engine mount in a motor vehicle has two end walls, between which are arranged two working chambers, both of which are filled with damping fluid and which are separated by a dividing wall in which is arranged a channel inter-connecting the working chambers with one another. The length of the channel is at least equal to the diameter of the dividing wall and its cross-section is small relative to its length. In order to make possible efficient damping of vibrations of various frequencies and amplitudes acting on the rubber bearing, the damping characteristics of the rubber bearing can be matched to the vibrations to be damped by either changing the size of the wall area or volume of the channel by intervention control from outside the bearing.
