  • Patent number: 4861119
Abstract: In a pressure modulator for an anti-lock vehicle wheel braking system, responsive to a change of volume of a modulation chamber, caused by a flange of a first central piston element cooperating with a piston step of a second piston element. The piston elements are located in a bore step of the pressure modulator housing which has a diameter which is larger than that of the modulation chamber. The two piston elements each have a displaceable piston flange for forming two sides of a control-pressure space, subject to outlet pressure of an auxiliary-pressure source, which causes the piston elements to be forces, counter to a pre-stress of a modulator spring engaging thereon, into a position which corresponds to a minimum volume of the modulation chamber and when subject to a valve-controlled relief of pressure in the control-pressure space, the piston elements assume the position corresponding to a maximum volume of the modulation chamber.

  • Patent number: 4856610
Abstract: A system for controlling at least one variable influencing the drive torque of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, with an electronic throttle control, an electronic ignition timing control and a control device which becomes active when there is a tendency to spin of at least one driven wheel. The instantaneous engine speed is stored and the drive torque reduced to a certain value, assigned to the engine speed, and subsequently increased again, at a rate of rise dependent on the engine speed, when the tendency of spin of the driven wheel subsides. Consequently, major excess torque are avoided and greater traction and lateral control force is achieved.

  • Patent number: 4852349
Abstract: An arrangement for removing soot particles from the exhaust stream of a diesel internal combustion engine in such a manner that the soot particles are caught between conductor elements disposed at different potential, produce a short circuit and thereby burn off. In order to be able to realize a purification of the exhaust gas stream without a significant increase of the exhaust gas counterpressure, a centrifugal separator is connected to the exhaust gas line, which passes over into a soot particle collecting chamber constructed axially symmetrical to the longitudinal axis thereof; a predetermined number of electrodes is arranged in turn in the soot particle collecting chamber at a slight distance to the casing interior surface whereby the electrodes among one another or the electrodes and the soot particle collecting chamber itself are at a different potential.

  • Patent number: 4852535
Abstract: In an automatic control method for moving a final control element, a position sensor delivers actual-position signals representing actual positions of the final control element to a computer, in which said actual position signals are compared with stored desired-position data associated with correcting signals for controlling an actuator for moving the final control element. In dependence on any deviation which is detected between said actual-position signals and desired-value data, the computer corrects the correcting signal so as to eliminate said deviation. To permit said desired-value data to be determined by an automatic operation, the final control element is consecutively moved to two reference positions, which are defined by stops and are disposed at or beyond the ends of the control range of the final control element.

  • Patent number: 4850246
Abstract: An interaxle differential for connection between two driven axles (14) of a motor vehicle comprises a liquid friction coupling (1) and a planetary gear train (15) comprising three torque-transmitting members (16, 18, 20). The liquid friction coupling (1) comprises a liquid-filled housing, a coupling shaft, which coaxially protrudes into said housing at least one set of radially inwardly extending, axially spaced apart outer blades, which are mounted on the housing, and radially outwardly extending, axially spaced apart inner blades, which are fixed to the shaft in said housing and axially staggered from the outer blades. Each of said outer blades is adjustable in a radial plane to vary the radial overlap between the outer and inner blades. A first of said torque-transmitting members of the planetary gear train is directly connected to an input member of the differential gear. A second (20) of said torque-transmitting members is connected to said coupling shaft (3).

  • Patent number: 4850446
Abstract: In a system for controlling the propulsion on motor vehicles, by a reduction of the drive torque by an intervention in ignition, carburator or fuel injection and/or brakes, includes a first device which reduces the drive torque when the maximum adhesion coefficient is exceeded, and a second device which reduces the drive torque to a value associated with the measured maximum value of the vehicle acceleration when the monitored wheel variable exceeds the threshold value, as a result of which too great an excess of torque is prevented and sufficient traction and cornering stability are retained without unnecessarily slowing down a propulsion of the motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4849891
Abstract: A propulsion control device for a motor vehicle which has a permanently balanced all-wheel drive, wherein the drive slip thresholds at which the control responds in the sense of a braking action, is increased as a function of the velocity and decreased as a function of the transverse acceleration. The acceleration thresholds, at which the control responds, are lowered as a function of the transverse acceleration. In the case of travel in a straight line, the lowest of the wheel peripheral velocities is taken as the reference velocity relative to which the drive slip thresholds are fixed. In the case of travel in a curve, the average of the wheel peripheral velocities of the left-hand side and right-hand side vehicle wheels is taken as the reference velocity for the vehicle wheels on the left-hand side and the right-hand side of the vehicle, respectively. From the time t.sub.

  • Patent number: 4846012
Abstract: An actuating linkage for a motor vehicle clutch with a clutch lever which can assume two end positions corresponding to the engaged and the disengaged clutch and at which engages an over-dead-center spring that exerts on the clutch lever a force directed toward a respective end position. In order to reduce the actuating force to be produced by the driver with a strong over-dead-center-point spring, the compensating spring engages at the clutch lever which exerts on the clutch lever a force directed toward the end position corresponding to the disengaged clutch whereby the torque applied on the clutch lever by the compensating spring is smaller with a disengaged clutch than with an engaged clutch.
