  • Patent number: 4838110
Abstract: A coupling device for rods required to be connected together is proposed, with a connecting element having bores on both sides, into which the ends of the rods can be inserted. One bore ends in an internal ring-shaped groove coaxial to it, in which an angled end of the rod is accommodated. The other bore is constructed as a screw-threaded bore, into which the rod is engageable by a screw-threaded shoulder. In order to insert the angled end, the connecting element is provided on its housing part with a releasable cover part, which can be closed and caught afterwards. • Patent number: 4836160
Abstract: An internal combustion engine is provided with a sound-insulating enclosure (2), which defines a sealed passage extending through the enclosure. A passage which extends through the enclosure is sealed by a sealing ring (9), which consists of a rubber-elastic material and is disposed between an inner flanged ring (7), which is secured to the engine, and an outer flanged ring (8), which is secured to the enclosure (2). In order to provide sealing means which are satisfactory for a passage for the exhaust manifold (3), the inner flanged ring (7) carries a protective shield (10), which shields the inside surface of the sealing ring (9) and which defines with the sealing ring (9) a clearance (12), which contains a heat-resisting and sound-absorbing insulating material (11).

  • Patent number: 4836475
Abstract: The invention relates to a safety system on track guidance lines for optionally track-guidable or road-going vehicles with pivotable feeler rollers. To avoid accidents which may be caused by travelling on track guidance lines with feeler rollers not extended or only incompletely extended, the invention provides for there to be a switch, which can be operated by the feeler rollers, to be arranged on each of the two transverse guide barriers, approximately opposite each other on the same level as the feeler rollers of the vehicle, at the beginning of the track guidance line. These switches, if operated together, switch via a control unit an optical display device, located downstream of the switches in the direction of travel of the vehicle, and normally indicating a block signal, to "clear line".

  • Patent number: 4836617
Abstract: In an antilocking ABS and propulsion ASR control system for a road vehicle, there is a brake pressure regulating member used for both antilocking ABS and for propulsion ASR control in which a hydraulic cylinder having a piston driven under valve controls defines an ABS control space, increasing when a drive pressure space of the cylinder is subjected to pressure, and an ASR outlet pressure space, decreasing when the drive pressure space of the hydraulic cylinder is subjected to pressure; and wherein, in normal braking, not subjected to ABS or ASR control, both spaces are connected to the brake circuit of the driven vehicle wheels. The control system is activated as a result of the valve control connection of an auxiliary pressure source to the drive pressure space of the hydraulic cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4829962
Abstract: A method and system for determining optimum ignition times with regard to engine operation in which the engine is commanded, at regular, short-time intervals, to operate under conditions which cause knocking in order to be able to sense the knock limit. This is achieved, following the occurrence of a characteristic operating parameter in conjunction with a knock signal, at a frequency which is preferably significant, by storing an appropriately-corrected ignition-time value in a set of correction data, this ignition-time value lying somewhat beneath the knock limit. If the same characteristic operating parameter recurs, an optimum ignition time is accordingly indicated, which lies slightly beneath the knock limit. This procedure enables the engine to be operated under conditions which are optimum with regard to fuel consumption, without entering the knocking range with excessive frequency.

  • Patent number: 4830136
Abstract: A four-wheel drive of a motor vehicle is arranged to effect automatic changes between a two-wheel drive mode and a four-wheel drive mode in dependence on the slip of two wheels (5) which are permanently driven. A frequent change from the four-wheel drive mode to the two-wheel drive mode for a speed comparison is to be avoided in a four-wheel drive which has a relatively simple structure. Two sensors (12) are associated with the two permanently driven wheels (5) and the output signals of said sensors are delivered to a computer (11), which determines for consecutive units of time the occurrences of the speed difference between said two wheels in excess of a predetermined threshold value and generates a distribution curve of said occurrences in consecutive units of time. That distribution curve is compared in the computer with a corresponding stored limiting curve, which is applicable to a minimum coefficient of road friction.

  • Patent number: 4829963
Abstract: A method for the regulation of the mixture composition in a mixture-compressing internal combustion engine with an electronically controlled fuel injection system. In order to be able to dispense with a lambda probe, the mixture is initially enriched or leaned for each cylinder unit directly after the start of the internal combustion engine, the change between two successive firings of the energy pulse introduced into the crankshaft by an ignition is continuously determined thereafter and the mixture is enriched in the case that the amount of the respectively determined energy pulse change lies above a predetermined shifting-comparison value dependent on operating parameters, and otherwise is leaned down.
