  • Patent number: 4607564
Abstract: In a blower housing arrangement for a motorized vehicle of the type with a blower encased by a housing followed by a duct system, a preferably open-pore foam material is utilized for noise damping, this foam material being sealed at least on the inside of the housing by means of a skin. This foam material is locally supported and bordered along the edges by wall sections of the housing and/or of the duct system so that, in this zone, the foam material is the sole means of forming the wall. The wall sections constitute a skeleton which, at least during normal driving operation, is dimensionally rigid and supportive and which serves for the accommodation of installation components, operating parts, and mounting elements.

  • Patent number: 4603915
Abstract: A wheel cover with a wire ring, especially for passenger motor vehicles, whereby the wire ring is composed of several sections, preferably of generally circular segments, and is constructed as a prestressed bent spring. This bent spring is received by guides mounted on the wheel cover and is advantageously retained by nose-like holding members when installed in the wheel cover. After the wheel cover is mounted on the wheel rim, the bent spring attains a generally circular contour and moves away from the nose-like holding members. The wire spring can be manufactured in a very simple and cost-favorable manner and may, since it is prestressed, be provided with a soft spring characteristic. As a result thereof, the system, i.e., cover, wheel, and connecting spring ring, becomes substantially independent of diameter variations of the cover.

  • Patent number: 4603811
Abstract: An injection unit which is associated with a cylinder of a multicylinder diesel engine and comprises an injection nozzle and an injection piston pump which is disposed in a common housing and is driveable by a cam shaft. Said pump comprises a rotatable pump piston which is displaceable in a pump cylinder and has two control edges disposed axially spaced from each other for at least one fuel passage of the pump cylinder. To obtain the desired injection accuracy by accurately observing only a few dimensions during the production and without further tests, measuring and adjusting operations, the pump piston (3) and the pump cylinder (14) each comprise at least one stop face (24, 25) extending transversely preferably normal to the pump longitudinal axis. Said faces cooperate in the basic position of the pump piston (3) assumed in the installation of the unit in the engine directly or indirectly with simultaneous rotational position fixing of the pump piston (3).

  • Patent number: 4602604
Abstract: An air compressing reciprocating in-line compression-ignition internal combustion engine comprises for each cylinder a fuel injection unit comprising a fuel injection pump and a fuel injection nozzle. Each fuel injection unit is operated by a camshaft via a rocker lever and a cam follower roller mounted on said lever. The camshaft is rotatably mounted between the cylinders in transverse walls provided on the cylinder heads. The camshaft carries injection control cams and valve control cams for actuating the gas exchange valves by means of cam follower levers, which are pivoted at one end to the cylinder head and at the other end engage the gas exchange valves and are provided with cylindrically curved engaging surfaces for contacting the valve control cams.

  • Patent number: 4601510
Abstract: A front body structure for motor vehicles, with an end wall and with an equipment space which is arranged in front of the end wall in the engine space and is partitioned off from the latter and which is covered at the top by an engine hood, there being in the central region of the end wall and air-passage orifice for a blower located in the equipment space as part of a heating air-conditioning system. To ensure that sensitive built-in parts are accommodated so as to be protected and that, at the same time, the front body structure is reinforced, the invention proposes to divide the equipment space into three regions by means of longitudinal walls serving at the same time for stiffening, and to supplement the transverse wall of the central region, this transverse wall facing the engine space, with an attached half-shell, to form the hollow girder serving for guiding communicating lines such as electrical lines.

  • Patent number: 4597323
Abstract: A fresh air supply device for a heating, ventilating and/or air-conditioning installation of a motor vehicle is provided wherein the fresh air enters through a gap between the windshield and the hood into an air collecting tank. In order to prevent the admission of moisture to an air filter and to prolong its useful life, the water flowing off the windshield and entrained by the airstream is received by a channel oriented in the transverse direction of the vehicle. This channel is followed by a grill for separating out larger particulate matter entrained in the airstream. A downward-pointing ledge adjoins the grill for further demoisturizing and to deflect the air and at least partially covers a dust filter which is arranged in such a position in the airstream that dust dropping from its dirty side falls freely downwards.

  • Patent number: 4595071
Abstract: The present invention concerns a hydraulic power-assisted steering gear for vehicles. A servo-cylinder is controlled by means of a control valve whose control spool can be deflected, independently of the position of the driven link, by actuation of the steering wheel from a neutral position corresponding to a steady driving condition. In addition, the control position of the control spool can also be adjusted automatically by means of a return device and under the action of a displacement force in such a way that when the steering wheel is released, the wheels of the vehicle are caused to return automatically from a deflected position into the straight position. A corresponding displacement of the control spool is achieved by subjecting its end surfaces to hydraulic pressure. The control of the corresponding pressure head is controlled as a function of the deflection angle by means of a further control valve.

  • Patent number: 4593544
Abstract: A central locking system with a two-door control for motor vehicles, in which certain locking operations are precluded in dependance on the position of the key of a starter switch of the driving engine. In order to prevent an unitentional locking of the vehicle doors under certain operating conditions, means are provided according to the present invention which enable a locking actuation of the central locking system exclusively by the interior actuating element of the driver door on the steering column side when the key is in the starter whereas only a mechanical locking of the individual front door on the passenger side is possible by way of the interior actuating element of this passenger door.

  • Patent number: 4592571
Abstract: To prevent the possibility of the upper extremities of a strapped-in passenger in a convertible vehicle from going beyond the extension of the tiltable roll bar in the event that the vehicle turns over, despite the fact that the roll bar is erected, the latter is extended beyond its particular pivoting point, and this extension engages around the shoulder-belt part between its deflection point and the lower fastening point, and when the roll bar is swung up, causes a tautening of the belt-band run because the shoulder-belt part is taken up.
