By exchanging or adding one or more modules, it is possible to adapt the flexibility of the power supply system to changes in demand for the energy thereby providing a practical approach to the utilization of waste heat for energy conservation purposes.

    Abstract: An electrically conducting connector for mutually rotatable components such as, for example, components of steering assemblies of a motor vehicle wherein, in order to obtain a high operating realiability and a transmission of current from the rotatable parts to fixed parts, in lieu of conventional slip ring arrangements, spiral springs are provided which are connected, in an electrically conducting manner to the rotatable component and fixed component of the steering assembly. In order to ensure an exact central positioning during an installation of the spiral springs, end regions of each of the spiral springs rest slidably, under tension, against associated contact rings thereby resulting in an automatic centering of the spiral springs when the steering assembly is operated for the first time.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a servo-controlled adjustable outside rear view mirror for vehicles, having a stationary mirror housing and a mirror shell which carries the reflector and is able to move therein. In the mirror housing there is provided an interchangeable drive unit for the vertical and horizontal adjustment of the reflector, said drive unit being affixed to the back of the mirror housing or of the mirror shell. The invention aims at providing a broad vibrationless bearing surface for the mirror shell. Furthermore, by means of a simple control switch the mirror shall be adjustable in the same manner about a geometrically defined horizontal and vertical axis. The invention also aims at providing a wedge-shaped convergent, aerodynamic mirror housing. For this purpose, the drive unit is coupled by means of a movable plate to the rear of the mirror shell which can turn on a vertical axis, but the swivel connection has torsional strength about the horizontal axis.

    Abstract: The engine block of a reciprocating internal combustion engine comprises cylinders, cylinder heads, pistons, connecting rods, a crankshaft, and bearings for said parts. The engine block is mounted in an outer pan in such a manner that the pan is insulated against a transmission of structure-borne sound from the engine block. A frame-shaped flexible seal is disposed between the engine block and the top edge portion of the outer pan and surrounds the engine block. The oil seal extends into grooves which are formed in the top edge portion of the outer pan and in the engine block. To ensure that the oil seal will produce a perfect sealing action in spite of relative motion of the engine block and outer pan and that the oil seal will not render the assembling and disassembling of the engine more difficult, the oil seal consists of fins, which are force-fitted in the grooves, and a thin flexible profiled connecting portion, which connects the fins.

    Abstract: In a reciprocating piston air compressor, air is induced via an intake valve in the compressor cylinder head and, in addition, air which has been pre-compressed on the rear side of the piston is forced into the cylinder space via slots in the cylinder wall controlled by the piston. The delivery and the efficiency of the air compressor are improved according to the invention by the provision that the pre-compression of the air occurs by means of a turbo-compressor and that during the return stroke of the piston, the cylinder space is connected with an additional clearance space via an opened control valve in the cylinder head, by means of which the hot compressed air which has not been expelled is replaced by cooler air.

    Abstract: A seat cushion adapted to be concealed in a back rest area of a motor vehicle seat includes a number of superimposed chambers, with the chambers being individually inflatable for individual support of a spinal column of the user of the seat. The individual chambers are delimited at intervals by a connecting ribs, with each connecting rib following along staggered paths and, preferably, along staggered undulating paths so that adjoining chamber walls form a tooth-like meshing. Thus, a transition area formed by the tooth-like meshing of the chambers is percieved as comfortable when the chambers are inflated to different hardnesses.

This lower-consumption signal is preferably displayed in liter/100 Kilometer units and is triggered only when a significant fuel saving can be achieved by a change of gear.

    Abstract: A fuel-injecting pump for diesel engines comprises pump cylinders, which are associated with respective engine cylinders and enclose a pump piston, which is adapted to be driven by a camshaft. The pump cylinders are provided with at least one radial fuel port, which at its opening into the pump cylinder is adapted to be closed and opened by the pump piston, which has two axially spaced apart valve edges. The opening of the fuel port into the pump cylinder has in that region which during the discharge stroke of the pump is first reached by the opening valve edge a substantially larger radius of curvature in the peripheral direction than in the adjacent lateral regions. Said opening and the opening valve edge have a common tangent at that point of the opening which is reached last by the opening valve edge during the discharge stroke of the pump.

    Abstract: A system for controlling the propulsion on motor vehicles which not only enables the output torque of the drive unit of the vehicle to be utilized in an optimum manner in critical driving situations, especially under extreme road conditions, but also endows the vehicle with good stability and enhanced driving safety. A comparator is provided, in a propulsion control system which is triggered by at least one presettable or permanently preset threshold value of the speed of the vehicle, and generating an output signal causing the drive torque to be reduced, as soon as this threshold value is exceeded and a signal is present, which indicates that an individual wheel brake is being activated and/or that one of the driven wheels is tending to spin. The threshold value of the speed of the vehicle, which value governs the control process, is preferably regulated in accordance with the transverse acceleration which acts on the vehicle whenever it follows a curved path.

This flow of tractive force acts only in a direction of force flow which opposes the flow of the working force. The internal combustion engines may be mechanically arranged in parallel next to one another or in series behind one another with working or output shafts of the internal combustion engines being located parallel or in series one behind the other. The working shafts are connected with parallel gear stages which transmit at different ratios and have opposing force flows.
