Patent number: 4480877Abstract: A recirculating pumping device for an anti-locking two-circuit motor vehicle brake system, with the pumping device including one pump piston provided for each brake circuit. The pumping device recirculates brake fluid released from the wheel brake cylinder or cylinders to a master brake cylinder during an anti-locking regulating or control process. The pumping device includes piston pumps, with one pump being provided for each braking circuit of the braking system. The piston pumps are constructed as free piston pumps having working chambers connectable periodically to a pressure source provided on the vehicle through a valve. The valve is switchable at a predetermined switching frequency or may be vented to the tank of the pressure source. The pistons are preferably constructed as stepped pistons, so that the recirculating pumping device may be adapted to the pressure level of a pressure source already available on the vehicle by an appropriate selection of a ratio between the piston surfaces of the pistons.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1982Date of Patent: November 6, 1984Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventor: Reinhard Resch

Patent number: 4480608Abstract: An engine block includes a crankshaft, and is enclosed by a sheath. Sealing elements connect the sheath to the engine block and insulate against structure-borne sound. A flywheel is non-rotatably connected to the crankshaft at one end of the engine block. A power train housing is disposed at that end of the engine block and includes a flywheel housing which accommodates the flywheel. The flywheel housing is rigid with the engine block and forms a unit therewith. The sheath encloses the engine block on all sides and defines an oil chamber around the engine block. The sealing elements consist of rings provided at opposite ends of the engine block. The unit is carried by and connected to a support by elastic elements which insulate against structure-borne sound.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1982Date of Patent: November 6, 1984Assignee: Steyr-Daimler-Puch AktiengesellschaftInventor: Assen Valev

Patent number: 4480309Abstract: A drive control device for a motor vehicle with rear axle drive and equipped with an anti-blocking system. As part of a rotational speed sensor arrangement provided to determine the state of movement of the vehicle wheels, each of the non-driving front wheels has an associated rotational speed sensor and the two rear wheels have a common rotational speed sensor, which measures the rotational speed of the propeller shaft in the transmission system. A hydraulic actuator provided for brake pressure control corresponds in construction to that of a 4 channel anti-blocking system. These components are utilized for both the drive control and the anti-blocking control. An electronic control system of the drive control device, which processes the output signals of the rotational speed sensors, initially activates the right-hand rear wheel brake, as soon as a driving wheel starts to spin.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1982Date of Patent: October 30, 1984Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventors: Manfred Burckhardt, J/u/ rgen Paul, Franz Brugger

Patent number: 4474395Abstract: A bumper for a motor vehicle, with the bumper being equipped with an energy absorber provided along a rear surface thereof with at least one recess. The energy absorber is disposed forwardly of a girder subjected to bending, with the girder being attached to a vehicle. The recesses are arranged in such a manner that an impact force is transmitted to the body of the motor vehicle with as little moment as possible so as to prevent a tilting of the bumper and associated motor vehicle parts such as a fender of the vehicle. With a bumper girder subjected to bending being mounted forwardly of the energy absorber, at least portions of the recesses diagonally face the area of incidence of the impact force. If the impact is directly incident on the energy absorber, the recesses lie in an extension of a direction of the point of application of the impact forces.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1982Date of Patent: October 2, 1984Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventors: Bernd Harloff, Roman Schoppel, Ulrich Bruhnke, Engelbert Kinds
