Patent number: 5231199Abstract: The invention pertains to a process for the synthesis of polyol fatty acid polyesters, in which a polyol and/or a fatty acid oligoester thereof, is esterified by reaction with fatty acid lower alkylester under substantially solvent-free conditions at elevated temperature in the presence of a transesterification catalyst and, optionally an emulsifier, and in which at least during the final stage of the transesterification reaction the reaction mixture is submitted to the action of a stripping agent suitable for accelerating the removal of the lower alkyl alcohol formed in said reaction. The process is of particular advantage in the synthesis of polyesters of very high degrees of conversion.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1992Date of Patent: July 27, 1993Assignee: Van den Bergh Foods Co., Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventor: Gerardus W. Patent number: 5230822Abstract: Solid core particles encapsulated in a single coat of paraffin wax, the wax having a melting point of about 40.degree. to about 50.degree. C. and a solids content of from 100 to about 35% at 40.degree. C. and from 0 to about 15% at 50.degree. C. The paraffin coat may comprise 20 to 90% by weight of the particle and may be from 100 to 1,500 microns thick. The coat prolongs the time in which particles encapsulated therewith may remain active in aqueous environments. The encapsulated particle is made by spraying molten wax onto the particles in a fluidized bed. Liquid or powder cleaning compositions, particularly automatic dishwashing liquid detergents, may incorporate 0.01 to 20% by weight of the composition of the coated wax-encapsulated particles.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1991Date of Patent: July 27, 1993Assignee: Lever Brothers Company, Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Ahmed A. Patent number: 5229157Abstract: A method of preparing an aerated vegetable product comprising starch, oil and a heat-setting material. The method involves mixing the individual components and thereafter aerating with a gaseous material. The method is for example well suited to the preparation of an aerated potato product which has a different taste and texture compared to mashed potato. Other vegetable products can be made from for example sweetcorn, carrot or pea. Furthermore, products made according to the invention can retain their structure after being frozen and subsequently reheated.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1992Date of Patent: July 20, 1993Assignee: Thomas J. Patent number: 5228811Abstract: A tool to be used in cooperation with a rotatable drill having a shoulder portion and a shank portion to remove set rivets securing parts together. The tool includes a hollow compressible means which surrounds the drill. The compressible means is provided at one end with a relieved surface having a contour that mates with the head of the rivet and with a central bore through which passes the drill. Spacers may be provided between the shoulder portion of the drill and the tool as well as may be friction reducing. The drill is moved toward the head of the set rivet through the tool and into cutting engagement with the rivet head to cut away the central portion of the rivet head without inadvertent disengagement. The tool may then be removed from the drill to permit the rivet to be knocked out of the parts or the drill may then be used to drill out the remainder of the stem of the rivet.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1992Date of Patent: July 20, 1993Assignee: General Dynamics Corporation, Convair DivisionInventor: Norman O. Patent number: 5226242Abstract: The present invention provides a vapor processing apparatus in which the vapor is generated in a region adjacent to the vapor processing area. This is generally done in a batch process and a limited volume of processing vapor is generated for each batch. The separation of the vapor generation from the processing avoids the contamination of the vapor source and the inadvertent cooling of the vapor generating area. In the preferred embodiment, two vessels are disposed one inside the other such that a vapor generating region is provided in the annular space between vessels. The vapor is injected into the processing region through channels formed in the annular space. In a preferred embodiment, the vapor is isopropyl alcohol and the substrates for processing are silicon wafers.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1992Date of Patent: July 13, 1993Assignee: Santa Clara Plastics, division of Preco, Inc.Inventor: Robert S.
