Abstract: An apparatus for the measurement or visual matching of colors and color effects on a flat or slightly curved sample is proposed, with a lighting apparatus, a sample support and an observer location, wherein the direction of observation of a sample is adjustable by translational displacement of the sample and in the process the lighting direction of the light which illuminates the sample surface remains constant to the sample surface.

Abstract: Lining devices are suitable for a disk brake having a brake disk, preferably for a motor vehicle, in which the brake disk includes concave brake disk surfaces which cooperate with concave lining surfaces of the lining devices. Each lining device has a lining body with a convex lining surface and a lining support which is constructed as a plate and which has a planar bearing surface for the lining body. For achieving a defined wearing thickness of the lining body, a device for optimizing the friction volume of the lining body is provided between the convex lining surface and the bearing surface of the lining body.

Abstract: Lining devices are provided for a disk brake having a brake disk, in which case the disk brake is suitable for the installation into a motor vehicle The brake disk comprises concave brake disk surfaces which interact with convex lining surfaces of the lining devices. Each lining device has a lining body with a convex lining surface and a lining support constructed in the manner of a plate, which lining support has a supporting surface for the lining body and a rear side, to which a piston of a caliber housing is guided, which caliper housing extends with a housing wall at a relatively small distance with respect to the rear side of the lining support.

Abstract: A wheel bearing unit for a motor vehicle has a wheel bearing arranged in a pivot bearing and including a received propeller shaft which, by way of a joint bell, is situated opposite a receiving element of the pivot bearing. Directly opposite areas of the pivot bearing receiving element and the joint bell have reductions in their thicknesses, and a ring gap formed between the receiving element and the joint bell can be bridged by a sealing ring which can be pressed upon the propeller shaft.

Abstract: A cylinder head for an internal combustion engine has inlet and outlet valves for the charge cycle control in a combustion space of the cylinder head, which inlet and outlet valves are actuated by at least one camshaft. For providing a cylinder head system having the inlet valves and the outlet valves which is suitable for different internal-combustion engines with a manifold injection or a direct injection, the head system has constructional characteristics which are suitable for a first cylinder head variant with a manifold injection as well as for a second cylinder head variant with a direct injection. The second cylinder head variant is provided with injection nozzles installed from a longitudinal side which extend at an acute angle with respect to a plane extending between the second cylinder head variant and a cylinder housing when assembled on a cylinder housing.

A component of the measuring device is fastened on the carriage and a drive integrated with the measuring device moves the carriage in a controlled manner along the guide into predetermined positions and at predetermined speeds.

Abstract: A slide bearing for an internal combustion engine having a bearing bore (3) provided in a bearing box (2) is described which is contoured in the form of grooved recesses (8) distributed over the axial length and running in a peripheral direction, and provided with a bearing layer forming a running surface (9) for taking up a bearing journal. In order to create advantageous structural conditions it is proposed that the running surface (9) of the bearing layer (4) applied to the bearing bore (3) has a contour with respect to spacing matching the contour of the bearing bore (3) in the form of grooved recesses (10) distributed over the axial length and running in a peripheral direction.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for preventing collapse of the upper airway are disclosed. The device includes a mouthpiece and a breathing tube. The method includes the steps of inserting a mouthpiece and allowing inhaled air to flow through a breathing tube. A first disclosed system includes a CPAP device which maintains sufficient pressure in an upper airway while functioning independently of an external pressure source. The system includes, a mouthpiece, a breathing tube containing a bi-directional pressure sensitive valve and a mechanism for transforming kinetic energy of air flowing in a first direction to potential energy and transforming the potential energy to kinetic energy of air flowing in a second direction. Further disclosed is a method employing the system. An additional system includes a self contained CPAP for maintaining sufficient pressure in an airway while functioning independently of an external pressure source.

Due to radiant heat in the combustion space, a hot site develops at a wall in a cooling duct of the cylinder head, through which cooling water is flowing. Control measures are provided for a concerted flow of cooling water in the cooling duct and for cooling the hot site at the wall of said cooling duct.

Abstract: The end-side holding device for a vent pipe of a fuel tank on a stationary wall of a motor vehicle is constructed in two parts and is composed of a connecting piece connected with the vent pipe and of a counterpart. The end region of the connecting piece, which faces away from the vent pipe, and the counterpart extend from opposite sides of the wall in the area of the recess and are pushed into one another until they interact by way of a releasable detent connection.

Various light sources are assigned to the light conducting plates or hollow bodies, corresponding to the part surfaces radiating in various colors, which light sources radiate variously coloured light into the respective light conducting plates or hollow bodies.

Abstract: An aqueous composition is disclosed for finishing fibrous material for a thermal transfer printing process comprising a) 0.5 to 2.5 percent by weight of a synthetic resin precondensate, b) 10 to 30 percent by weight of a thermoplastic plastic with reactive groups, c) 0.1 to 1.0 percent by weight of an inorganic salt with an acidic reaction, d) 0.2 to 2.0 percent by weight of a softening agent, and e) 0.05 to 0.5 percent by weight of an emulsifier. The disclosure is further directed to the use of the composition for a thermal transfer printing process and a thermal printing process.

Abstract: The cement for surgical purposes includes three components. The first component includes beta tertiary calciumphosphate &bgr;-Ca3(PO4)2(&bgr;-TCP) particles; and monocalcium phosphate Ca(H2PO4)2(MCPA) or monocalcium phosphate monohydrate Ca(H2PO4).H2O (MCPM) particles or phosphoric acid. The second component includes water. The third component includes particles having an average diameter which is larger than the average diameter of the beta tertiary calciumphosphate &bgr;-Ca3(PO4)2(&bgr;-TCP) particles of the first component. Upon mixing of the three components a hardened mass comprising brushite CaHPO4.2H2O (DCPD) is formed. The &bgr;-TCP particles have a specific surface area of less than 10,000 m2/g and a Ca/P atomic ratio different from 1.50. The component constitutes 1 to 99 volume-percent of the hardened mass.
