Abstract: A device for perforating, die-cutting, cutting or creasing in printing machines comprises a supporting foil which at two of its opposite sides is provided with strips for mounting onto a rubber blanket cylinder of a printing unit, whereby a component for perforating, die-cutting, cutting or creasing is affixed to the supporting foil. An impression cylinder covered with a protection foil co-operates with the rubber blanket cylinder. The use of a relatively hard supporting foil instead of a rubber blanket allows for much cleaner and quicker perforation and punching, and the affixing of the perforating, die-cutting, cutting or creasing component to the supporting foil on the rubber blanket cylinder allows a much easier and more precise positioning of that component. As a result, the device can also be used in endless printing machines. Moreover, the use of an independent inner underlying blanket allows an exact calibration of the total thickness of the supporting foil comprising the working tools.
Abstract: Processes for decreasing the chlorine to carbon ratio for halogenated hydrocarbons containing chlorine and from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, in the presence of a catalyst are disclosed. The processes are each characterized by employing a catalyst comprising ruthenium on a support of (i) fluorided alumina, (ii) aluminum fluoride, or (iii) fluorides of Zn, Mg, Ca, Ba, Y, Sm, Eu, and/or Dy. Also disclosed are multiphase catalyst compositions of ruthenium supported on fluorides of Zn, Mg, Ca, Ba, Y, Sm, Eu and/or Dy.
Abstract: The device comprises 2.sup.n memories (Mi) or memory areas in parallel, among which the A instructions are distributed, a unit (UT) for processing these instructions and a management unit (DI, AC) sensitive to a jump instruction extracted from one of the memories in order to disrupt the ordered activation of memories and in its place to activate the memory containing the address given in the jump instruction, and to cause the instruction placed at this address to be delivered to the processing unit (UT). The n least significant bits (LSB) of said M-bit address identify the memory (Mi) or the memory area containing this address, while the (M-n) most significant bits (MSB) identify one of 2.sup.M-n rows of 2.sup.n addresses each taken from one of the 2.sup.n memories.

Abstract: The signal to be controlled is sent along an optical fiber by a wavelength tunable laser whose emission wavelength may be varied as a function of a possible phase variation in the received signal with respect to a reference phase. At the receiving end of the fiber a control signal is generated by extracting a fraction of the power associated with the received signal and sending such fraction back towards the transmitting end, and at the transmitting end the phase of the fraction is compared with that of the original signal and the tunable laser is driven in such a way as to transmit a wavelength such that the clock information reaches the receiving end with the reference phase.

Abstract: A support system for bath or shower tubs which are preferably provided with a rim, in particular a preferably extending rim has at least one upper horizontal strut (10, 12, 14, 16) to which at least one vertical strut (20-30) is secured, with an element for vertical adjustment being provided at the vertical strut. Insulating elements are provided for the decoupling of structure-borne noise and vibrations.
Abstract: A low power current-to-frequency converter circuit provides an output frequency signal F.sub.OUT having a frequency that varies as a function of a low level analog input current signal. The analog input current signal is typically generated by an implantable sensor element, designed to sense a particular substance or parameter within body tissue or fluids to which the sensor is exposed, with the magnitude of the analog signal providing a measure of the sensed substance or parameter. Conversion of the low level analog current to the output frequency signal facilitates transmission of the data signal over a shared data bus and other digital processing of the data signal.

Abstract: A baffle structure that includes a generally cylindrical portion and at least one generally linear portion is associated with each roll in a yarn processing. The generally cylindrical portion is spaced a predetermined clearance distance from the surface of the roll with which it is associated to define a generally curved channel about the roll. The generally linear portion of each baffle structure extends toward the other roll, with the generally linear portions overlapping each other to define a substantially linear channel between adjacent upstream and the downstream rolls. The generally linear portion extending from the cylindrical portion of the upstream roll toward the downstream roll has an edge thereon. The edge is disposed within a predetermined close distance of the surface of the upstream roll such that the edge lies within the boundary layer of air able to be generated about the upstream roll.

Abstract: This invention is a method for treating human erectile dysfunction using therapeutic amounts of human growth hormone (GH) administered systemically. Severing the parasympathetic nerves that regulate the erectile function during the course of surgery produces erectile dysfunction. Damage to these nerves by diseases such as diabetes mellitus and alcoholism and during aging may also produce erectile dysfunction. GH stimulates the regeneration of severed parasympathetic nerves that regulate the erectile function restoring potency. GH may act directly or by stimulating the production of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I). The combination of GH plus an IGF (with or without one of the IGF binding proteins) may provide a better response than GH alone.
Abstract: Disclosed herein are processes for polymerizing ethylene, acyclic olefins, and/or selected cyclic olefins, and optionally selected olefinic esters or carboxylic acids, and other monomers. The polymerizations are catalyzed by selected transition metal compounds, and sometimes other co-catalysts. Since some of the polymerizations exhibit some characteristics of living polymerizations, block copolymers can be readily made. Many of the polymers produced are often novel, particularly in regard to their microstructure, which gives some of them unusual properties. Numerous novel catalysts are disclosed, as well as some novel processes for making them. The polymers made are useful as elastomers, molding resins, in adhesives, etc. Also described herein is the synthesis of linear .alpha.-olefins by the oligomerization of ethylene using as a catalyst system a combination a nickel compound having a selected .alpha.-diimine ligand and a selected Lewis or Bronsted acid, or by contacting selected .alpha.

Abstract: A method for irradiating and modifying high molecular weight organic polymers with high energy radiation so that the radiation impinges only in a distinct pattern which is less than the width of the polymer so as to cause controlled chain scission and continuity in molecular weight distribution. The method improves the flow rate and millability of the polymers.
Abstract: A core plug includes a tube formed from a light-weight material, such as woven carbon fibers, inserted into and connected to a steel rib assembly. The rib assembly includes a series of ribs surrounding the tube, where each rib includes a beam parallel to the tube and columns connecting the beams to the tube. The tube can extend the complete length of the rib assembly or the rib assembly can extend beyond the end of the tube. A high molecular weight journal is inserted in the outer end of the tube.
