Abstract: A reflection-type projection screen is provided having uniformly high gain over a wide range of viewing angles. The projection screen includes a dual-purpose light reflective, supportive substrate including at least one unpigmented flash-spun plexifilamentary film-fibril sheet having a light reflectance of greater than about 85% and a gloss of less than about 10% when measured at a 60° incident angle, and an optical diffusion layer of a light transmissive melt-processible polymer containing diffusion-enhancing particles covering at least one surface of the substrate. The projection screen has an optical gain of between about 0.90 and about 2.0 and the optical gain deviates by no more than about 8% over viewing angles between ?60° and +60°. The projection screen has good drapeability, rollability the ability to lay and hang flat. The projection screen can also be recycled.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for computer-aided identification of the child octants of a parent octant, which are intersected by a beam, in an octree data tree. The method firstly determines the number of the child octants of the parent octant which are intersected by the beam and, on the basis thereof, the child octants of the parent octant which are intersected by the beam. It is characterized in that, for determination of intermediate octants which do not correspond to the entry and the exit octant and nevertheless are intersected by the beam, look-up tables are used for identification.

Abstract: Disclosed is an organic-inorganic hybrid composition containing a metal oxide (A) having a particle diameter of 1-400 nm and a polymer emulsion particle (B) having a particle diameter of 10-800 nm. The polymer emulsion particle (B) is obtained by polymerizing a hydrolysable silicon compound (b1) and a vinyl monomer (b2) having a secondary and/or tertiary amide group in the presence of water and an emulsifying agent.
Abstract: A vehicle communication system facilitates hands-free interaction with a mobile device in a vehicle or elsewhere. The invention also provides remote access to information such as existing news sources (i.e. existing RSS feeds) and supported websites. This also includes subscription to value-added services including: weather, custom alerts (i.e. stock price triggers), traffic conditions, personalized news, e-books (not limited to audio books, but any e-book), personalized audio feeds, and personalized image or video feeds for passengers. The system obtains, translates, and provides personalized news content in audible form within a vehicle without explicit user requests. An individual may set their preferences by selecting from a set of common sources of information, or by specifying custom search criteria. When new information is available and relevant to the individual's preferences, it is read out loud to the individual when appropriate.
Abstract: This invention provides a process for improving the field emission of an electron field emitter comprised of an acicular emitting substance such as acicular carbon, an acicular semiconductor, an acicular metal or a mixture thereof, comprising applying a force to the surface of the electron field emitter wherein the force results in the removal of a portion of the electron field emitter thereby forming a new surface of the electron field emitter.

Abstract: Perfluoropolymer parts containing (reinforcing) fibers oriented parallel to the surface of the parts may be joined by frictional welding processes such as vibration welding and ultrasonic welding without disturbing the orientation of the fibers. The parts may be used directly or cut into other shapes. Such parts are useful where high temperature resistance and/or chemical resistance is desired along with good physical properties such as strength and/or toughness. These types of parts include gaskets and seal rings.
