  • Patent number: 5132551
Abstract: An anti-theft device that is adapted to be connected adjacent to or on a battery of a motor vehicle and including a power switch for disconnecting the battery from its standard battery cable when current flowing through the cable exceeds a preselected substantial amount of current associated with an attempt to start the vehicle. A lockout circuit is actuated by a remote transmitter for generating an external command signal to override the operation of the power switch. This device can be attached directly to a battery without external wiring and still provide the passive or self-arming anti-theft device.

  • Patent number: 5131544
Abstract: A device for separating particles in a liquid in which a paper suspension to be cleaned and supplied to a chamber of revolution (1) rotating about an axis (2). Movable deviators (7, 8) precede the fixed outlets (9, 10) to intercept most of the through-put of the suspension in the region of the periphery of the chamber (1), then deviate it towards the longitudinal axis of rotation (2) so as to recover most of the kinetic energy of rotation. The outlets (7, 8, 9, 10) are situated at the opposite end to that of chamber (1) from the supply (5, 6) and are arranged at the periphery of this chamber (1). A diabolo-shaped central body of revolution (11) is arranged inside the chamber, along the longitudinal axis of rotation (2) for rotation about its axis and with a radial run-off (12) in the vicinity of its smallest cross-section connected to an axial outlet duct (13).

  • Patent number: 5131438
Abstract: A method and apparatus for in-flight refueling of unmanned aircraft includes a manned tanker aircraft having a refueling probe mounted thereon. The probe is extendable for increased visual reference. A drogue mounted on the distal end of a flexible refueling hose is trailed from the unmanned aircraft. The refueling hose is stored on a reel assembly mounted on the fuel tank of unmanned aircarft. The reel assembly is remotely actuated from the manned tanker to pay out the refueling hose. A homing system transmits signals from the manned aircraft guiding the drogue to the probe. Upon insertion of the probe into the drogue, automatic coupling occurs and the unmanned aircraft is refueled.

  • Patent number: 5132631
Abstract: Apparatus and method for detecting the presence and surface location of or the absence of an electrically conductive solar coating on a pane of glass. A capacitor is formed by placing a probe against one surface of the glass. The value of the capacitor is determined by the presence or absence of a conductive coating on the glass and by the location of any coating relative to the probe. Variations in the value of the capacitor are detected to selectively illuminate lights which indicate either the absence of a surface coating, the presence of a surface coating on a near surface or pane of the glass or the presence of a surface coating on a far surface or pane of the glass.

  • Patent number: 5130069
Abstract: Dyeable fibers are formed from polypropylene by blending a major portion of polypropylene with a minor portion of 1) a copolymer of nylon 6,6 and substantially equimolar amounts of hexamethylene diamine and an alkali metal salt of 5-sulfoisophthalic acid or 2) a basic reaction product of substantially equimolar amounts of N-(2-aminoethyl) piperazine and adipic acid, hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid and optionally .epsilon.-caprolactam. The blend is formed in an extruder and extruded into filaments which are quenched in air, stretched 2-4.times. (preferably at an elevated temperature) and bulked using a jet of heated turbulent fluid. The thusly bulked filaments are then dyed.
