Abstract: A garment hanger comprises an integral body of synthetic material having a central portion, a hook portion extending outwardly of said central portion and first and second wing portions at respective opposed side margins of the central portion, the central portion defining, at each side margin thereof, a succession of projections extending outwardly of the side margins, each wing portion defining mutually with the projections a first channel extending into the hanger, the central portion defining a second channel in intersecting relation with the first channel. The second channel is inclined at an acute angle with respect to the first channel and the second channel extends into the central portion interiorly of the side margin thereof.

Abstract: The invention is a process for modifying pore size near the surface of porous materials. The surface is contacted with an alcohol solution of a metal alkoxide which forms a hydrous oxide insoluble in water, an amount of water insufficient to hydrolyze fully the metal alkoxide, and a mineral acid for a time sufficient for the solution to penetrate the surface region but not the bulk. This is followed by exposing to sufficient moisture to complete hydrolysis and then curing to stabilize the metal oxide in the pores near the surface.
Abstract: Melt fabrication, with precompounding, of a plurality of thermoplastic resins, is provided by use of a screw having a dispersion section in such machines as injection molding machines. The minor resin component can be an elastomer, which toughens the resin's major component. This effect is improved by increasing back pressure on the screw used in the injection molding machine, to extend the screw rotation and thus shear time accomplished by the dispersion section.

Abstract: Sieve for paper pulp strainer and classifier of the kind formed by the juxtaposition of elements of U-shaped cross section comprising a perforated flat bottom (2) and two sidewalls (3) characterized in that the elements (1) of U-shaped cross section are disposed so as to form a notable cylindrical revolving wall, provided with slots or holes, whether or not associated with grooves and bars (obstacles).
Abstract: The use of multilayer heat shrinkable film for advantageous high shrinkage but low shrinkage force is combined with the use of recycle scrap of such film to provide multilayer heat shrinkable film retaining these advantageous properties. Exemplary of the film is a core of a blend of certain linear low density polyethylene with certain highly branched low density polyethylene sandwiched between two relatively thin outer layers of propylene/ethylene copolymer, with the core also containing recycle scrap of the multilayer film.

Abstract: A film support having an auxiliary layer coated over an antistatic layer coated on one side thereof is described. This element, which is particularly useful for the application of subsequently applied photosensitive layers on side opposite said auxiliary layer, comprises gelatin, a crosslinking agent, optionally a conductive polymer and an adhesion promoting amount of an adhesion agent, said adhesion agent selected from the group consisting of: compounds containing at least one --NH.sub.2 group and compounds containing at least two --NH groups, wherein said adhesion agent is sufficiently soluble in water that said adhesion promoting amount of adhesion agent may be dissolved in the dispersion used to coat said auxiliary layer, with the proviso that said adhesion agent is not malonamide. Preferred adhesion agents are urea, thiourea and 2-imidazolidone. Improved adhesion of the auxiliary layer to the antistatic layer is achieved.

Abstract: A thermoplastic, segmented, copolyetherester elastomer having soft segments derived from poly(alkylene oxide) glycols and bibenzoic acid, and hard segments constituting 10-17 weight percent of the elastomer and being 95 to 100% poly(1,3-propylenebibenzoate). Melt-spun fibers of the elastomer have significantly superior elastic and set properties and are less stiff than similar elastomeric fibers having the same soft segments but with hard segments of poly(ethylenebibenzoate), poly(1,4-butylenebibenzoate) or poly(1,6-hexylenebibenzoate).
Abstract: Semi-crystalline blow moldable polyester compositions formed by melt blending a mixture consisting essentially of a poly(butylene terephthalate, an ethylene copolymer containing epoxide groups, and an ionomer obtained by neutralizing with Na.sup.+ or K.sup.+.
Abstract: Foam molding is carried out with a melt blend of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), ethylene copolymer elastomer, and glass fibers in the presence of blowing agent and with a cold mold, so that the resultant foamed article has an amorphous-rich PET surface and a crystalline PET core.

Abstract: A pigment dispersant useful in cathodic electrocoat compositions is disclosed. The pigment dispersant is the reaction product of an organic monoepoxide or polyepoxide with a primary amine containing an imidazoline moiety. This pigment dispersant allows the maximazation of pigment to binder ratios and the minimization of volatile organic content (VOC) in electrocoat baths.
Abstract: Insulation piercing-connector having two parallel spaced cutting tongues each having a tapering introduction hole. A conductor surrounded by insulation is introduced without stripping. After introduction the conductor is clamped to the connector by at least one clamping lip. The clamping lip is provided in the space between the two cutting tongues.

Abstract: An effusion source for epitaxial deposition plants wherein molecular vapor beams are directed towards a substrate to be grown in ultrahigh vacuum environment, which has a first tube, which is airtightly closed at one end by flanges allowing the passage of vapor inlet tubes and is equipped at the the other end with baffle plates and a nozzle for mixing vapors and shaping the molecular beam. A second tube, coaxially joined to the first tube, allows an interstice at ambient pressure and temperature to be obtained in the zone of the vapor mixing and molecular beam shaping, wherein a heating can be located.

Abstract: A tamper-indicating seal of the type having a bolt retained in a lock body, wherein the lock body is surrounded by a shroud of frangible, brittle material and provided with a grooved outer surface and flanged entrance way for receiving and surrounding the bolt end, whereby the shroud is easily fractured, thus providing visual indication of tampering. Visual detection of tampering may be enhanced by a coating applied to the outer surface of the shroud. A surface feature on the between its point of entry into the lock body and its point of entry into the flange is in interfering relationship with a surface feature within the flange, so that an attempted removal of the lock body from the shroud is indicated by cracking, chipping, or fracturing of the flange or the shroud.
