Abstract: A connector device comprises a plug pin and a receptacle for receiving the plug pin therein. The receptacle is bent into a substantially rectangular parallelepiped configuration such that a pair of parallel elastic contact sections are formed at one side of a pair of opposite sides of the rectangular parallelepiped. The plug pin is also of a substantially rectangular configuration in cross section to permit it to be elastically sandwiched between the aforementioned opposite sides of the receptacle. The plug pin is so formed as to have arcuate side edges at its side face which is contacted by the pair of elastic contact sections.
Abstract: The reaction mixture obtained by oxidation of cyclohexane using a cobalt catalyst is extracted with water to remove undesirable oxidation products such as diacids, hydroxy acids, and cobalt catalyst. The resulting mixture is then hydrogenated using a fixed bed hydrogenation catalyst to convert cyclohexyl hydroperoxide to cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone.

Abstract: A complex braided composite structure is formed of axial and braiding yarns using an interlacing pattern which allows all braiding yarn reversals to occur outside a multi-layer array of axial yarns concurrently at one location in the pattern thus allowing free manipulation of the yarns for forming complex shapes.
Abstract: Enclosed package such as an envelope-like package, which may be substantially impermeable to gas, water and chemical vapor and preferably is essentially light opaque having two surfaces sealed together, e.g., at least one end, and having a tearstrip. The improvement comprises hot melt adhesive-covered tearstrip present between the two surfaces and is sealed in an area along the entire length of the outer edge of the tearstrip, the inner edge of the entire length of the tearstrip remaining unsealed except at the opposite ends. The seal can be opened easily by tearing in a substantially perfect line with virtually no ragged edges which impede the removal of the package contents. The package, when light opaque, is useful for containing light-sensitive photographic films, e.g., x-ray films, including x-ray intensifying screens, photopolymer elements and other light sensitive sheets. In nonlight opaque embodiments, the package can contain paper sheets, flat materials and various solid and liquid food items.
Abstract: Aminopeptidase inhibitory activity is exhibited by compounds having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, alkyl, carboxyalkyl, halo-substituted alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, aminoalkyl, mercaptoalkyl, alkylthioalkyl, (cycloalkyl)alkyl, (heteroaryl)alkyl, arylalkyl, carbamoylalkyl, guanidinylalkyl or heteroaryl; andR.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, aminoalkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, heteroaryl or heteroarylalkyl.
Abstract: This invention relates to 1-benzopyransulfonamides, 1-benzothiopyransulfonamides, 1-benzoxepinsulfonamides and 1-benzothiepinsulfonamides which are useful as plant growth regulants and in particular as herbicides.
Abstract: A fiber reinforced material is made by passing a preheated tensioned filament array over an arcuate extruder head where thermoplastic polymer is flowed through the filament array to expel air from the array while coating the filaments with polymer. The filaments comprise 50 to 75 percent by volume of the material and the polymer has a relative viscosity of at least 50.

Abstract: A coding box suitable for a hot foil printing machine comprises a frame, a number of print wheels rotatable about a shaft with respect to the frame, each print wheel having a number of outward-facing peripheral flats bearing indicia, a through-hole parallel to the shaft and corresponding to each flat, a rod passable through the holes for setting the wheels in desired orientations with respect to the frame and a magnet in a cup for locking the rod in a set position. A second rod is provided, fast with respect to and parallel to the first rod and having an enlarged distal end for engagement with a hole in the frame to prevent complete removal of the first rod from the frame. The first and second rods are both fast in a handle by which they may be withdrawn from the wheels to permit rotation of the wheels, and thus variation of the indicia to be stamped.
Abstract: Pharmaceutical compositions are provided which contain hollow fine tube drug delivery systems. The compositions comprise a pharmaceutically suitable carrier, preferably in the form of a capsule, tablet, suspension, or suppository, and at least one drug delivery system which consists essentially of (1) a polymeric tube having a membrane outer sheath and a hollow core, and (2) at least one drug compound contained within the core, said system contained in the composition in an amount sufficient to deliver a therapeutic amount of the drug contained therein at a predetermined rate over a predetermined period of time. By varying the polymer, the permeability of the outer sheath, the drug, the drug concentration in the hollow core of the tube, the tube diameter, the tube length, the tube core diameter, and the sealing of the tube ends, a wide variety of drug therapeutic amounts, rates and dosing times can be achieved.

Abstract: A receptacle is disclosed which includes first and second rectangular frames each having a rectangular opening, so that a plug pin can be detachably inserted into the receptacle through the first rectangular frame. The first rectangular frame is connected to the second rectangular frame through a pair of leaf spring pieces. The pair of leaf spring pieces are inwardly curved toward each other so that the plug pin, when inserted into the receptacle, is electrically connected to the receptacle, and said plug pin is elastically retained between the inwardly curved portions of the leaf spring pieces.
Abstract: A power control device for controlling power to a resistance heater in an oven uses a microprocessor, temperature measuring circuit, power measuring circuit, a triac circuit for firing the heater, a power phase synchronizer whereby the microprocessor synchronizes A.C. current signal and allows the triac to fire for a calculated portion of each phase of A.C. current to provide power to the heater such that the oven temperature is accurately controlled. A cooling device for cooling to subambient temperature such as -150.degree. C. also is provided. The power control device and oven are used in conjunction with instruments such as a dynamic mechanical analyzer so that physical data on test samples can be obtained over a wide temperature range.
Abstract: A container for the dissolution of a tablet of material is characterized by a plurality of projections mounted within the container. The projections cooperate to define a tablet-receiving recess adapted to confine a tablet inwardly therewithin in a relatively high energy zone during sonication of the tablet. Gaps between the projections define recirculating liquid channels whereby hydrating liquid passing through the tablet-receiving recess may be recirculated to other regions of the compartment.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of tufted rugs and carpets, or similar products, characterized by the fact that a first application of yarns is inserted by a bank of needles over a prewoven base then over which a second application of yarns is made in a different direction from the first, forming a two directional tufted structure; the process can produce tufted carpets in any size and shape without joints, and results in self-supporting yarns. It also manufactures other tufted textile products through the two and the three-directional tufting process.
Abstract: A primer assembly for use in the non-electric initiation of cap-insensitive explosives, especially of deck-loaded explosive charges by means of a single downline of low-energy detonating cord (LEDC), includes a percussion-actuated detonator seated in a cavity in a high-energy primer, and an explosive coupler in which a coupling explosive charge, housed in a plastic connecting block, is in initiating proximity to the detonator's percussion-sensitive ignition charge and sufficiently close to a cord-receiving perforation or conduit in or adjacent the primer as to be initiatable by the detonation of LEDC threaded therethrough. A preferred connecting block has a U-shaped channel for engaging the detonator, and a connecting block arm for attaching the block to the primer. Preferably the explosive coupler is seated within a block-like cavity in the primer.
