  • Patent number: 4718366
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of tufted rugs and carpets, or similar products, characterized by the fact that a first application of yarns is inserted by a bank of needles over a prewoven base then over which a second application of yarns is made in a different direction from the first, forming a two directional tufted structure; the process can produce tufted carpets in any size and shape without joints, and results in self-supporting yarns. It also manufactures other tufted textile products through the two and the three-directional tufting process.

  • Patent number: 4719637
Abstract: In order of maintaining at the more constant level the CO.sub.2 content in the gaseous mixture discharge of a transversely excited atmospheric pressure laser, a polymer product is included in advance of the laser operation in the laser chamber or within the closed fluidtight circuit where the gaseous mixture is recycled. • Patent number: 4718072
Abstract: A gas operated laser is disclosed which comprises two main electrodes facing each other and connected with a single feeding capacitor both for the preionization and for the main laser discharge, wherein the gas preionization in the laser vessel is obtained by a corona discharge generator comprising a dielectric tube along the outside of which a conducting wire is stretched to contact the outer surface of the tube which conductor connects with one of the discharge electrodes while a thin conducting rod inserted in said tube connects with the other discharge electrode. As a first alternative an edge of a conducting material shape is used as a substitute for said conducting wire. As a second alternative the side sharp edge of one of the main electrodes is used in lieu of said conducting wire.

  • Patent number: 4717393
Abstract: Semi-flexible aromatic polyimides, prepared by polycondensation of dianhydrides with phenylene diamines having alkyl substituents on all ortho positions to the amine functions incorporating at least in part 3,3',4,4'-benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride, are auto photochemically crosslinkable. Membranes formed from this class of crosslinked polyimides have improved environmental stability and superior gas selectivity than the corresponding uncrosslinked polyimide. The range of gas permeation properties observed allows for the tailoring of membrane material for widely diverse gas separations. The high permeabilities of some gases from multicomponent mixtures is due to the optimization of the molecular free volume in the polymer.

  • Patent number: 4717308
Abstract: An unloading system for a container, such a forage box, includes a floor and a pair of parallel sidewalls. An auger is located in the container and a hydraulic motor on the auger rotates the auger to convey material in the container toward one end thereof. The auger is mounted on movable carriages and a second hydraulic motor drives the carriages to advance the auger transversely across the floor of the container between the sidewalls while the auger is rotating. A second cross auger is positioned adjacent the discharge end of the aforementioned auger and extends transversely of the container to receive the material conveyed by the first auger and discharge it from the container, and the second auger is also driven by a hydraulic motor. The hydraulic motor which transversely advances the first auger includes a relief valve which controls the hydraulic fluid pressure of that motor to vary the speed of the transverse movement across the floor of the container.
