  • Patent number: 4687128
Abstract: A corrugated board display structure has tabs for readily connecting a horizontally extending shelf to an upright support in such a manner that the load capacity of the shelf is significantly increased. Edge segments formed in an upright, folded portion of the shelf bear directly in end-to-end engagement with edge segments adjacent upstanding tabs of an upright support, and the depending tabs of the upright portion connected to the shelf are received behind the upstanding tabs of the upright support in order to thereafter retain the edge segments in continuous, flat contact. The longitudinal axes of the ridges and grooves of the corrugated panel forming the upright support are in generally parallel relationship to the longitudinal axes of ridges and grooves of the corrugated panel comprising the upright portion, so that the columnar strength presented by the corrugations of the support resist the load presented by the corrugated upright portion without bending of either corrugated panel in lateral directions.

  • Patent number: 4687240
Abstract: A seal of the type resembling a padlock and comprising a plastic housing having a pair of apertures for receiving a shackle of the type formed of a U-shaped piece of wire which reversely bent end portions, the extreme ends of which are intended to dig into the walls of the body apertures to prevent removal of the shackle. The body is provided with at least one longitudinal groove which is centrally located between the position of the shackle apertures, and the ends of the shackle are sharpened or beveled in a manner such that if an excessive tension is applied to a shackle leg, the sharpened end will penetrate the side wall of the groove, pass across the groove or just behind the bottom of the groove, and enter the opposite groove wall. The shackle, or a portion of raised plastic from the bottom of the groove is thereafter visible in the groove and gives visual evidence of tampering.

  • Patent number: 4687611
Abstract: Polyimide film prepared from a precursor solutions of polyamic acid in a solvent can be dried during or following the thermal or chemical conversion step, which produces a polyimide, by adding to the solution a small amount of an alkyl ester of phthalic, terephthalic, or isophthalic acid, casting the solution on a flat surface and heating the solution on the flat surface at about 100.degree.-200.degree. C.; then, removing the resulting partially converted film from the flat surface and heating it, under restraint, to about 200.degree.-375.degree. C., to bring about complete conversion and remove virtually all of the solvent. • Patent number: 4687888
Abstract: An electrical connector containing a switch which makes or breaks an electrical connection when the connector is plugged into or unplugged from a mating connector. The switch is located in an aperture in the electrical connector. It is capable of limited reciprocal motion parallel to the longitudinal axis of the aperture. The switch includes at one end a pair of normally touching contacts and a dielectric finger. Electrical connection is broken when the switch reciprocates so that the dielectric finger is interposed between the normally touching fingers and, likewise, electrical contact is made when the reciprocation movement of the switch removes the finger.

  • Patent number: 4685216
Abstract: A cabinet maker's arch door or crown door marking gauge has side members attachable to a work table of a table saw or shaper. A spring band is held on the side members so that opposite sides of the band are perpendicular to the sides of a panel to be marked which is positioned between the side members. The band forms a symmetrical arch between the sde members which is marked on the panel. One side of the band is adjustably held by one side member so the length of the band between the side members, and thus the height of the arch between the side members can be varied. The side member are adjustably held on the support so the distance between the side members can be changed to permit marking panels of different widths.

  • Patent number: 4685804
Abstract: A method is disclosed for measuring the rate and/or extent of movement of oscillatory element positioned on an oscillating system by passing a reference beam towards a reference detector over a reference edge. The reference edge is fixed relative to the element. The measurement beam is directed towards the measurement detector over a measurement edge of a surface adapted to move together with the element relative to the reference edge. The movement of the measurement edge cuts the measurement beam as it moves into the path of the measurement beam. The rate and/or extent of movement of the element relative to the reference edge is determined by comparing the illumination received by each of the detectors. Apparatus is also disclosed for measuring the rate and/or extent of movement of an oscillatory element positioned on an oscillating system including a measurement edge adapted to move together with the element. A reference edge is maintained stationary relative to the measurement edge.
