  • Patent number: 4667698
Abstract: A hydraulic distributor in the body of which there is provided a central hole and supply, a discharge, a working, and bypass conduits, said conduits being connected to the central hole. In central hole there is disposed a plunger which is provided with central and end rings. Between the rings there are shaped profile necks and in one of the ends of the plungers there is provided a bypass groove. The working conduits are arranged perpendicularly to the central hole in the distributor body, and non-return valves are disposed in them. The spaces formed by the profile necks in the walls of the central hole are interconnected by an auxiliary conduit. In one embodiment of the distributor, the auxliary conduit is provided in the central ring of the plunger. In another embodiment of the distributor, the auxiliary conduit is provided in the body of the distributor.

  • Patent number: 4668354
Abstract: A process for depositing metal in the form of an interlayer within a solid matrix. The process is characterized in the use of electroactive transfer agents to carry electrons from the cathode to the desired locus within the matrix where the metal cation (M.sup.n+) is reduced to its zero-valent state. Also disclosed are composites of metallic-interlayer-containing matrices.

  • Patent number: 4668534
Abstract: Air is flowed within an annulus fluidly connected to the load end of a pipe to be coated. A premeasured charge of powdered coating material is suspended in an injection airflow and then injected into the annulus. Spiral flow of the air and particles of coating material in the annulus is induced by successively jetting air into the annulus at selected angles to axial flow. The resulting powder cloud has spiral annular movement within the annulus toward the load end of the pipe. An optional conical deflector at the load end deflects the spiral cloud toward the wall of the pipe. The pipe is rotated counter to the tangential or circumferential component of the spiral flow. The nonaxial circumferential component of the spiral flow helps reduce the number of holidays, and insures that the coating material is deposited evenly through the length of the pipe for a uniform coating thickness. The powder cloud is much longer than the pipe. The excess coating material exiting the pipe discharge end is recycled.

  • Patent number: 4666395
Abstract: An improved nonwoven-sheet-making apparatus includes an improved rotatable baffle which has a conical section that whose axis is displaced from the axis of rotation of the baffle. In preferred operation, the baffle deflects, spreads and oscillates a fiber stream as it advances from a spinneret to a moving receiver on which the stream fibers are deposited to form a ribbon which is overlapped with like-formed ribbons to form a sheet. The apparatus is particularly useful in making a less ropy more uniform sheet of flash-spun plexifilamentary strands.

  • Patent number: 4667087
Abstract: A credit card resistant to unlawful use has a code, indicative of the owner's account number hidden beneath an opaque shield. The card has a keyboard and microprocessing components electrically connected to the shield. Insertion of correct entries, e.g. an owner's personal identification number, into the keyboard results in application of an electric signal to the shield to render it transparent in order that the code may be viewed by another person or by a machine. Erroneous attempts to operate the keyboard beyond a predetermined standard disable the keyboard from further operation.
