Abstract: A non-woven felt suitable for use as a filter comprised of poly(tetrafluoroethylene) and glass fibers hydraulically entangled to a supporting scrim and a process for making said felt are disclosed. The scrim is made from high temperature and chemically resistant materials.
Abstract: The use of delay modulation (or "Miller") phase coding to encode transmitted data is disclosed in a multinodal, peer network communication system. The use of delay modulation provides bandwidth compression and reduces the direct current (dc) voltage component of transmitted data. In addition, the delay modulation provides a unipolar communication in which the transmitted waveform contains both data and synchronization information and error detection capabilities.
Abstract: There is disclosed a process for enzymatically hydrolyzing a non-gelationized granular starch material directly to glucose. In another embodiment, granular starch remaining non-hydrolyzed following a direct, granular starch hydrolysis process and having liberated fat and/or protein residues coated, adsorbed or otherwise accumulated thereon is pasted, thinned separated from said fat and/or protein residues and recycled to said granular starch hydrolysis process for further hydrolysis to glucose therein.
Abstract: A composite consisting essentially of a polymer matrix and thermoplastic elastomeric fibers is disclosed. During preparation, elastomeric fibers are embedded in polymer or polymer precursor under from about 0 tension to tension only sufficient to eliminate slack and develop tension as the composite is formed. The composite is impact resistant and capable of elongation.
Abstract: A video camera image with a motion induced blurring component is corrected by measuring the motion of the video camera by orthogonally mounted rate gyros each producing a signal that varies with camera motion along a defined axis relative to the bore sight of the camera. The video camera signal with the motion induced blurring component is processed into a Fourier transform which is combined with a video deblurring signal. Motion output signals of the rate gyros are processed in a Fourier transform computed Wiener filter to produce the video deblurring signal which is combined with the Fourier transform of the video camera signal. This combination signal is then processed in an inverse Fourier transform and converted into an analog signal for input to a video display monitor. This input signal to the video display monitor is motion corrected and produces a video display corrected for motion of the video camera.
Abstract: A thermoplastic, non-thermosettable copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene, an iodoperfluoroalkyl ethylene and an optional selected third comonomer. The copolymer can be extruded at higher rates than heretofore possible.
Abstract: A tamper-proof or security threaded fastener assembly adapted for use with standard size bolts and screws is provided to reduce or eliminate the unauthorized removal of threaded fasteners from their desired position of fixation. A cap portion is adapted to completely encase the head of the bolt or screw such that, after tightening of the bolt or screw, access thereto is restricted to a special non-standard tool. In one embodiment, a nut portion is provided comprising an elongate strip provided with a threaded hole to receive the bolt and a perpendicularly disposed flange. An additional hole appropriately provided in the base or plate through which the bolt is attached is adapted to receive the flange of the nut portion in a manner which prevents the nut portion from being rotated after the bolt is tightened and fully drawn up to the base or plate.
Abstract: Pyrazolotetrathiepins such as (a) 2,2-dimethyl-7-methyl-1,3,4,5-pyrazolotetrathiepin, (b) 2,2-dimethyl-7-phenyl-1,3,4,5-pyrazolotetrathiepin, (c) 4,4-dimethyl-7-methyl-1,2,3,5-pyrazolotetrathiepin, (d) 4,4-dimethyl-7-phenyl-1,2,3,5-pyrazolotetrathiepin, and (e) 3,3-dimethyl-7-methyl-1,2,4,5-pyrazolotetrathiepin are antimycotic agents.
Abstract: A noise pulse rejection circuit for use in a pulse type time-of-arrival detection system is described. Preferably, the pulse type time-of-arrival detection system includes a precision distance measuring equipment (DME/P) receiver having a delay-attenuate-compare (DAC) detector. The DAC detector produces first time-of-arrival detector outputs due to receiver noise, and a second time-of-arrival detector output upon detection of a received DME pulse having a leading edge, each of the first time-of-arrival detector outputs having a substantially shorter period than the period of the second time-of-arrival detector output. The noise pulse rejection circuit preferably includes a monostable multivibrator, which is triggered by the first and second time-of-arrival detector outputs to generate a timing signal having first and second logic states, the timing signal normally changing from a first logic state to a second logic state after a predetermined time period "T".
Abstract: 5,6-Epoxy-7-oxabicycloheptane substituted ether prostaglandin analogs are provided having the structural formula ##STR1## wherein X is O or ##STR2## and including all stereoisomers thereof. The compounds are cardiovascular agents useful, for example, in the treatment of thrombotic disease.
Abstract: A process, apparatus and system for making a sterile connection between thermoplastic resin tubes is disclosed. A section of each tube is flattened and a hot cutting means is urged through the flattened sections so as to seal temporarily each tube and to provide molten tube ends. The tubes are aligned with each other and then the desired molten tube ends are urged together to form a joint between the tubes for each pair of tube ends to be connected. Each joint is cooled and then subjected to light stress to open the temporary seal in each tube, thereby providing fluid communication between the joined tubes.
Abstract: 5,6-Epoxy-7-oxabicycloheptane substituted prostaglandin analogs are provided having the structural formula ##STR1## wherein m is 1 to 5, R is H, lower alkyl, alkali metal or polyhydroxylamine, and R.sup.1 is lower alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl or lower alkenyl, including all stereoisomers thereof. The compounds are cardiovascular agents useful, for example, in the treatment of thrombotic disease.
Abstract: A variable-band distributed switching node comprises a plurality of independent modules (MU.sub.1 . . . MGm) inserted between subscriber or trunk lines and a common bus (1). Each module includes an input/output portion (IU, HL, SL, PL), processing line information, and an interface (IB) toward the bus which co-operates with the interfaces of the other modules to form hybrid frames on the bus. These frames are each divided into a first region RC, encompassing a plurality of channels assigned to circuit-switched communications, and a residual-band second portion RP shared by packet-switched communications. Such frames are dynamically managed by assigning to each circuit-switched channel a band which can differ in consecutive frames to satisfy the requirements of variable-band sources and by recompacting the channels remaining in region RC after each channel release.

Abstract: New carboxymethyl esters of mercaptopropanoic acids, and salts thereof, have the formula ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or lower alkanoyl;R.sub.1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, phenylalkyl and phenyl;R.sub.2 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, phenyl, phenyl-lower alkyl, 4-hydroxyphenyl-lower alkyl or indolyl-lower alkyl. These compounds are useful as enkephalinase inhibitors and hypotensive agents.
Abstract: The invention relates to a frame for the transport and storage of pipes of profile frame parts, of which the upper and lower profile frame parts are connectable with one another by rods which can be conducted through recesses of the profile frame parts and are swingably arranged with an end provided with a transverse piece in lateral transverse bores of a profile frame part. In order to improve the support of the pipes on the frame parts and to simplify and cheapen the manufacture, the frame parts are C-profiles with retracted base part, two C-profiles arranged in one another in opposite directions, the shanks of the outer C-profile extending beyond the base of the inner C-profile, or box profiles with side wall extensions. In particular, as middle frame parts there are used double C-profiles. In the free shanks or extensions of the profiles there are formed, as supports for the tube, divided-circular recesses, which, if need be, have a flange with inner reinforcing walls which faces inward or outward.
