Abstract: A new low profile miniaturized air dielectric variable capacitor for use in hybrid circuits. A very cost effective, low priced variable capacitor that combines precision with a low profile is disclosed for use in hybrid circuits and other applications where space requirements are tight. The new capacitor uses a unique design to achieve an extremely low profile, less than 0.127 inches, for varying capacitive ranges. The new design is achieved by creating the stator as part of the circuit layout or design. The stator is actually formed on the surface of the substrate by a thick film metallization or by copper etching and one or many capacitors can be formed as part of the circuit layout. Thereafter, a metallic conductive housing, internally threaded, is positioned over the stator. Internal to the housing is an externally threaded rotor having an adjusting knob or screw extending through the housing.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for the application of a photosensitive liquid between the substrate and the photomask during contact printing. The substrate and photomask are aligned in a hinged relationship.
Abstract: An oil well drilling rig assembly having a main drilling mast which receives and installs sections of drill pipe. A pipe supply mast is pivotally mounted in a spaced relationship from the base of the main mast to provide a safe catwalk area therebetween. The supply mast is movable between a horizontal position for transferring pipe sections between an adjacent pipe supply rack and a vertical position adjacent the main mast for transferring a section of pipe therebetween. The supply mast is raised and lowered by hydraulic cylinders and is telescopically adjustable to various lengths. A combination shock absorbing bumper and alignment arrangement is provided between the mast drill mast and the pipe clamps on the supply mast. The supply mast is provided with a plurality of pipe clamps for releasably clamping a section of pipe on the supply mast. The clamps are provided with adjustable jaws which maintain the axial centerline for clamped pipes of various diameters.
Abstract: A non-tangling trot-line spooling apparatus for spooling a trot-line having a set-line with spaced apart leaders and hooks is disclosed. The spooling apparatus includes a tubular member positioned to one end of the apparatus for securely and safely receiving each hook on the trot-line. The tubular member in combination with a gripping member located to the opposite end defines a spooling area for receiving the set-line as the trot-line is reeled in. The tubular member includes an opening and a slot cut longitudinally to the tubular member to permit the barbed ends of each hook to be inserted into the tubular member and retained in the slot. A sliding member is provided for closing the opening in the tubular member to prevent the inserted hooks from falling out.
Abstract: A method for the manufacture of piston ring inserts by a powder metallurgy technique from austenitic ferrous alloys with an equivalent carbon content of more than 2%, said method comprising the following steps: melting a charge composed of an austenitic ferrous alloy having a total carbon content in excess of 2%; pouring the molten alloy and atomizing it by means of a stream of water, air or gas to produce powder of particle sizes ranging from +40 to -325 U.S. mesh, with an austenitic white cast iron structure and virtually no green resistance; annealing the particulate material in a reducing atomsphere; adding the annealed particulate material with a lubricant in such an amount that through a subsequent compacting operation of the particulate material to its final form same will present the highest green compact possible; burning off the lubricant in a protective atmosphere; sintering the compacted material and cooling it abruptly.
Abstract: An amphibious toy vehicle about the length of a "penlight" battery can climb any grade where it will not tip over backward, and can propel itself through water. An "AA" battery powers an electric motor in the four-wheel-drive vehicle. The motor has a double-ended shaft, driving a symmetrical worm-and-worm-gear geartrain. The motor and geartrain are aligned along one side of the chassis; the battery alongside them occupies the rest of the chassis. Both climbing and water-propulsion capability are enhanced by several-times-overscale hollow (to aid flotation) wheels, with pronounced peripheral cleats. A flotation chamber extends beneath the entire chassis. To resist degradation due to dirt, the chassis is substantially sealed against dirt particles, but for economy the sealing is not watertight. To compensate for this, the entire electromechanical system has been made to operate even with the chassis full of water.
Abstract: A conductive element having a metallization paste screen printed on its surface is made using a paste containing 65 to 97% by weight gold and 3 to 25% by weight cadmium/antimony alloy dispersed in an inert liquid vehicle.
Abstract: Process of preparing dry nonelectroscopic toner comprising pigmented organic resin particles having a size distribution of 0.2 to 30 micrometers, surface coated with at least 0.1% by weight of silicone oil or fluorocarbon compound, in combination with at least 0.5% by weight of a water soluble, polymeric quaternary ammonium compound as defined. The toner is useful in color developing positive- and negative-working photosensitive elements. The toners, particularly magenta and cyan, exhibit high density and excellent stability.

F. to 500.degree. F.
