Abstract: For pinning of drop wires for the mechanical drawing-in of warp threads, the keyholes thereof located at different distances from the thread eyes in two different types of drop wires must be aligned with one another for the reception of a pinning rod. Both types of drop wires are thus strung onto a lease rod which passes through the thread eyes of both types of drop wires, the lease rod having a T-shaped cross-section at one end segment and a rectangular cross-section at an opposite end segment with an intermediate gradual transition of increasing thickness of the T-crossbar portion of the T-shaped cross-section. The thread eye of one type drop wire has a cutout defining opposed projections engaging upper surfaces of the T-crossbar, and the drop wires of the other drop wire type which are not intended to be displaced have an upper thread eye portion which is of essentially the same size and shape as the rectangular-sectioned segment of the lease rod.

The particles have a size range of 0.1 to 10.0 .mu.m, not more than 50% by volume being below 3.5 .mu.m. A preferred element contains two photohardenable layers, the lower layer having an optical density greater than 3.0 over at least the 300 to 550 nm spectral region. The elements can be used for the preparation of proofs and printing plates.
Abstract: A peroxide-curable fluoroelastomer composition comprising an elastomeric copolymer containing units derived from vinylidene fluoride, units derived from at least one other fluorine-containing monomer copolymerizable with vinylidene fluoride, said monomer being a compound which contains 2-7 carbon atoms, contains no bromine atom and contains at least as many fluorine atoms as carbon atoms, up to 3 mole percent, based on the total moles of copolymer, of a bromine-containing olefin with the proviso that enough of such olefin is present to provide at least about 0.05 weight percent bromine in the copolymer and about 0.5-5 parts per hundred parts elastomeric copolymer of tetramethylene sulfone.
Abstract: Blends of (a) 80-93 weight percent of an ethylene/acid ionomer, and (b) 7-20 weight percent of a propylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer are used to prepare peelable seals having nearly constant and predictable peel strength over an extended heat seal temperature range. Some of the seals so produced also show stress whitening.
Abstract: A container for a layered chemical analysis system includes a first, rigid, member and a second, flexible, member. The flexible member is moveable with respect to the rigid member from a first, unstressed, position to a second, stressed, position in which the flexible member is flexed to generate a reaction force acting in a direction substantially normal to stacked layers to thereby urge the same into intimate contact with each other.

Abstract: A cartridge for launching electromagnetic decoys with multiple charges comprises an elongated tube having an open upper end and a closed lower end, in which a plurality of flat holders, containing electromagnetic decoys are stacked over the length of the tube. At least one of the upper and lower surfaces of each flat holder is a conical surface in the shape of a flattened cone and each flat holder is provided in its lower part with a pyrotechnic charge able to project it upwards and to disperse the decoys. Each charge is connected to an adjacent charge by a pyrotechnic retarder and the upper most charge of the stack is provided with at least one pyrotechnic initiator, such that the arrangement formed by the initiator, the chargers and the retarders forms a continuous pyrotechnic chain, in order to allow, after detonation of the initiator, the successive ejection of the flat holders in a predetermined timed sequence.

Abstract: A miniature multiturn electrical capacitor is provided that includes low cost, high precision, die cast components and a unique spring biasing means to ensure electrical contact and torque between the rotor and the housing of the capacitor to enhance capacitor performance. The spring biasing means comprises a circular spring which resists compression in the radial direction and engages the inside surface of the flexible tubular rotor to bias the rotor against the internally threaded housing. The torque thus created promotes precise rotor positioning within and electrical contact with the housing.
Abstract: An automatic exchange of a telephone system comprises a PCM switching network with a plurality of cascaded stages for establishing temporal and spatial connections between incoming channels on input lines of the first stage and outgoing channels on output lines of the last stage in response to commands from external controllers dialoguing with internal controllers of the network. Pairs of switching matrices forming part of nonadjacent stages are combined into modular switching units each provided with its own internal controller. Routing instructions are transmitted from an external controller to a first internal controller which selects a signal path through the matrices of its own switching unit and informs a second internal controller of that selection whereupon the latter extends the path through an adjoining switching unit, and so on until the connection is completed.

Abstract: A pitch suitable for carbon fiber manufacture features a pitch having a weight content of between 80 and 100 percent toluene insolubles. The pitch is derived from a deasphaltenated middle fraction of a feedstock. The pitch is characterized as being relatively free of impurities and ash. The pitch can be spun directly into carbon fibers.
Abstract: 1,8-Dihydro(or 3,8-dihydro)-8-aryl-2-[(substituted)thio]indeno[1,2-d]imidazoles and their corresponding sulfoxides and sulfones, such as 1,8-dihydro(or 3,8-dihydro)-8-phenyl-2-[(1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl)sulfonyl]indeno[1,2-d]i midazole, are useful in the treatment of inflammation and/or pain.
Abstract: High strength, high modulus, continuous filament aromatic polyamide yarns are stretch broken under high tension while being sharply deflected in a lateral direction by mechanical means to provide a sliver which is processed by conventional means to a high strength, high modulus spun yarn. The broken ends of the fibers are highly fibrillated to fibrils having lengths of 50-350 times the diameter of the unfibrillated portion of each fiber.
