Abstract: High resistance PEDT/PSS buffer layers are provided for use in electroluminescent devices such as, e.g., OLEDs. In accordance with another embodiment, there are provided OLEDs comprising high resistance PEDT/PSS buffer layers. In accordance with a further embodiment, methods have been developed for decreasing the conductivity of a PEDT/PSS layer cast from aqueous solution onto a substrate, by adding a cyclic ether co-solvent to the aqueous solution of PEDT/PSS prior to casting. In one embodiment, there are provided methods for decreasing the inherent conductivity of a PEDT/PSS layer cast onto a substrate so that this material can be used as an intermediate buffer layer in red, green, blue organic light emitting diodes (RGB OLEDs).
Abstract: A hybrid waveguide structure having a combination of buried waveguide sections and ridge waveguide sections on the same substrate, share a common core layer. The buried waveguide sections provide the low index contrast desirable for couplers and other device components. The ridge waveguide sections provide the high index contrast needed for efficient low-loss tightly curved waveguides. The devices are fabricated starting from a low index contrast buried waveguide. Cladding material is then selectively removed by etching down from an upper surface either side of the waveguide core to a lower surface. This forms an enhanced index contrast ridge section of the waveguide. The other sections of the waveguide core remain buried and thus retain lower index contrast.

Abstract: A modulated Class E oscillator. In one embodiment, the modulated Class E oscillator may achieve high coil currents (about 1A) and voltages (about 500V) with low power components. Current may be injected when the oscillating current in the inductor passes through zero. A detector circuit may be used to trigger the current injection at the appropriate instant regardless of changes in the resonant frequency of the system. Its phase can be adjusted to compensate for propagation delays in the drive circuitry, while amplitude modulation is accomplished by switching in additional reactive conductance to increase the current injected into the tank circuit. Frequency modulation is accomplished in an alternate embodiment. The oscillator can also lock to an external reference signal and be phase modulated.

Abstract: The invention relates to a reaction vessel (1) for producing a sample, in particular a crystal, from a substance in solution or in liquid form, having several reaction chambers (6) each forming a separate gas chamber, consisting of at least one housing part, and each reaction chamber (6) has a reservoir (7) and several reaction areas (8) co-operating therewith, connected to one another and to the reservoir (7) in order to exchange gas. The reservoirs and the reaction areas co-operating with them are disposed immediately adjacent to one another in rows, distributed in a predeterminable, identical manner, these rows running parallel with one another. Each row of reservoirs (7) therefore co-operates with at least one row of reaction areas (8).

Abstract: A Flexible Resource Manager, or FRM, enables multiple clients to share disparate resources, including database connections, communication ports and tasks for multiple clients. The approach balances performance issues, such as the latency introduced by resource allocation, with the overhead of retaining unused resources, while providing for demand-based allocation, reuse of already allocated resources, and removal of resources under the control of an aging parameter. During registration, each resource object class and its corresponding constructor parameters are stored, and a resource pool is configured to contain a maximum and minimum number of instances. When registration completes, the FRM returns back a unique identifier that the application can use request instances of these resources in the future. Drivers or other dependent resources supporting the managed resource are only loaded when needed, thereby conserving memory and processing overhead.
Abstract: Bending machine for profiles comprising at least a drawing assembly able to draw the profiles, a first shearing device arranged downstream of the drawing assembly and bending means arranged downstream of the first shearing means. A second shearing device is arranged upstream of at least part of the drawing assembly and is able to shear the profiles to eliminate excess parts thereof.

Abstract: It is described a gripping device for vials or similar containers, comprising a tubular body attached to one end of a movable supporting vertical shaft and gripping means associated to said tubular body. Said gripping means comprise non-mechanical gripping members, able to be connected with one end of a vial or container by face-to-face soft contact.
Abstract: Polyolefins, preferably polyethylene, having a density of about 0.86 to about 0.93 g/mL, and having methyl branches and at least branches of two other different lengths of six carbon atoms or less, form heat seals at exceptionally low temperatures, thereby allowing good seals to be formed rapidly. This is advantageous when heat sealing these polyolefins, for example in the form of single or multilayer films.
Abstract: A thermally imageable element having a thermally imageable layer, wherein the thermally imageable layer has a thermal amplification additive and a stabilizer selected from the group consisting of phenolic type compounds and amine type compounds. These stabilizers present in thermally imageable layers maintain NIR stability during manufacture, and when the thermally imageable elements containing them are used in thermal imaging processes.

Abstract: An electromechanical information browsing device that controls page flipping actions of information displayed as an e-book on a display device. The browsing device includes a controller that provides tactile feedback so as to lessen the user-interface differences between conventional books and e-books. Sensors and control mechanisms in the controller generate a series of electrical signals that are interpreted by the computer that displays the e-book to control various browsing operations, such as flipping pages, controlling a rate of page flipping, jumping to pre-set locations in the e-book, etc.
