Abstract: In a vehicle locating apparatus that utilizes Hall effect generators to determine the magnetic heading of the vehicle there is provided magnetic compensation by the placing of a coil around the Hall generators. A current source generator provides power to the coil of such magnitude so as to create a magnetic field which cancels the spurious local magnetic field components. The appratus also includes a set of manual switches to program a constant number into the system. The system incorporates this number to compensate for variable wheel diameters and to allow the selection of variable map scale units. This number is utilized by the system in a division technique that repeatedly subtracts the number or adds the number to the accumulated distance traveled by the vehicle. The location of the vehicle is updated as the vehicle passes a transmitting signpost. Data transmitted to and from the vehicle locating apparatus is in a self-clocking format that reduces oscillator accuracy requirements.
Abstract: Stoichiometrically imbalanced solutions of 6FTA and aromatic diamine can be used to prepare laminates and bonded articles having a broad temperature range for consolidation.
Abstract: A fail-safe logic circuit which includes a pulse generator driven series arrangement of opto-isolators each of which generates a pulsating signal at its output as a function of the logic level state of its respective input terminal. If all input terminals are logic level highs, then a pulsating output signal is equivalent to a true state whereas either a DC or zero level signal is indicative of a false state.
Abstract: An apparatus for holding a syringe and filling ampules is described. The apparatus is comprised of a housing having a base and a vertical support member. A syringe holder is affixed to the vertical support member in a manner which permits the syringe holder to slide up and down between two limits on the vertical support member. The apparatus operates by first lowering the syringe holder downward to place the needle of the syringe (in the holder) into an ampule, in response to the downward movement on the device's handle. Further downward movement of the handle causes material from the syringe, such as a viscous liquid, to be dispensed into the ampule.

Abstract: A medical alert alarm is provided to enable an individual having a medical problem in the nature of a heart condition to alert bystanders of an impending attack. The alarm includes a compartment for storing medication, as well as means to identify the individual and the nature of the medical problem. An important feature of the invention relates to the small size of a housing used to contain components of the alarm. Very small components, including a small speaker and other audio oscillator circuitry, are used. In order to project an audible signal having desirable alerting characteristics, and still maintain a small housing size, a resonant cavity is employed. The dimensions of the resonant cavity are carefully selected so that the proper audible signal is produced. The invention also includes a clip and a switch positioned such that the alarm can be activated easily.

Abstract: A balanced, biaxially oriented polyolefin shrink film is produced using a tenter process by heating the film, stretching the film 7 to 10 times in the transverse direction, cooling the film and then heating and stretching the film 1.5 to 4 times in the longitudinal direction such that the ratio of the transverse stretch to the longitudinal stretch is greater than 2.0.
Abstract: A fractionable elastic polypropylene which has an inherent viscosity of 1.5-9, exhibits no yield point, has a tensile set not exceeding 150% and contains about 10 to 80% by weight of a diethyl ether-soluble fraction having an inherent viscosity exceeding 1.50. This polypropylene is a direct reaction product and thus need not be separated into its component parts to be a useful elastomer. Also described is the diethyl ether-soluble polypropylene fraction of the direct reaction product which has about 0.5% to about 5% isotactic crystallinity and exhibits birefringence when a film formed from said fraction is viewed under crossed Nicol prisms in a polarizing microscope at about 25.degree. C. or is stretched between crossed polarizing sheets at about 25.degree. C. The diethyl ether-soluble fraction itself is a useful elastomeric material.
Abstract: Aqueous dispersions of fluorocarbon polymers in combination with the water-borne reaction product of (a) carboxyl-functional polymers, (b) polyepoxides and (c) tertiary amines are provided. Such dispersions can be applied to a variety of substrates by either conventional coating techniques or electrodeposition, and provide coatings that exhibit excellent release properties and high lubricity.
Abstract: Cross-linked polyvinyl alcohol coated polyester fiber is indigo-dyeable and exhibits wash-down and crocking resistance characteristics similar to indigo-dyed cotton fibers.
Abstract: Terpolymer consisting of 12 to 48% by weight TFE units, 7 to 24% by weight HFP units and 30 to 81% by weight VF.sub.2 units, provided that when the content of TFE units is less than 42% by weight, the content of HFP units is less than 15% by weight. Heat-stable films such as polyimide film can be coated with a coating comprising the terpolymer to provide heat-sealable film useful as wire insulation.

Abstract: At a subscriber station AU communicating with a central office of a data network, a logic unit UM includes a processing subunit UE which, under the control of a microprogrammed subunit UC comprising a microinstruction memory MM and a sequencer SQ, digitally demodulates an incoming carrier and synthesizes an outgoing carrier modulated in the DPSK (differential-phase-shift keying) mode. The modulation is effected by multiplying stored bits of an outgoing signal, read out from a data memory MD, with bits representing digitized sine and cosine samples of the carrier wave obtained from a calculator AL within subunit UE, followed by conversion to analog form and filtering; demodulation is carried out in a similar manner, after conversion of analog samples of the incoming carrier to digital form, by multiplying the resulting bits with those of the calculated sine and cosine samples.
