  • Patent number: 4237605
Abstract: A machine for assembling washers on headed screw blanks, comprises a turntable having peripheral recesses into which the washers are inserted. Elevators in the form of vertically swinging arms are mounted on the turntable about the periphery thereof, extending generally radially of the turntable, and are cam controlled to swing vertically relative to the turntable. In their upwardly swung position, recesses in the outer ends of the arms receive screw blanks beneath the heads thereof, the arms then swinging downwardly to insert the screw blanks in the washers that are in alignment below the screw blanks on the turntable. At the discharge side of the turntable, a slideway is provided for complete assemblies; but incomplete assemblies are detected and are disassembled with the parts returned to storage.

  • Patent number: 4237649
Abstract: Toy mother and baby animal figures which simulate the giving of birth to the baby animal. The mother animal figure includes a hollow body having an interior chamber with an exit opening. An openable door is provided over the exit opening. The toy baby figure which is representative of an offspring of the mother animal is disposed within the chamber. The baby figure is capable of being collapsed, as by having multisection foldable legs which fold up against its body, so it will fit within the chamber. A conveyor mechanism is included within the mother animal figure and is manually actuable by the user to move the baby figure toward the exit opening while also opening the door so that the baby figure may be pushed out through the exit opening and thus be "born". After it is born, the baby figure may be expanded as by having its legs unfolded and it may be self-standing. The chamber may also be openable to permit replacing the baby figure.

  • Patent number: 4238829
Abstract: In a vehicle locating apparatus that utilizes Hall effect generators to determine the magnetic heading of the vehicle there is provided magnetic compensation by the placing of a coil around the Hall generators. A current source generator provides power to the coil of such magnitude so as to create a magnetic field which cancels the spurious local magnetic field components. The apparatus also includes a set of manual switches to program a constant number into the system. The system incorporates this number to compensate for variable wheel diameters and to allow the selection of variable map scale units. This number is utilized by the system in a division technique that repeatedly substracts the number or adds the number to the accumulated distance traveled by the vehicle. The location of the vehicle is updated as the vehicle passes a transmitting signpost. Data transmitted to and from the vehicles locating apparatus is in a self-clocking format that reduces oscillator accuracy requirements.

  • Patent number: 4238739
Abstract: A phase lock loop (10) includes a frequency and phase preset network for presetting a local oscillator (20) in substantial synchronism with a carrier signal. The preset network utilizes time delayed output signals from split or double correlators (32, 34, 36, 38) to determine a change in the phase angle between the local oscillator signal and the carrier signal for a known time period to determine the frequency of the local oscillator signal relative to the carrier signal frequency. The preset network determines the phase of the local oscillator signal relative to the carrier signal phase utilizing the summed output of one split correlator (32 and 34) and of another split correlator (36 and 38).
