Abstract: A means for moulding thermoplastics video discs having one or two shaped resilient compensators to maintain the stamper plates in parallelism with the plastics foil during moulding. The compensators may be of a rubber and may contain a thermally conductive material.
Abstract: The loudspeaker includes a front panel of expanded polystyrene resiliently connected to side walls of the speaker enclosure. A standard loudspeaker is connected to the front panel, and there is a small diffuser cone concentric with the standard cone. The front panel is driven by the standard cone to reproduce low and medium frequencies and the diffuser cone reproduces high frequencies. Both speakers are driven by a common driver fixed to a rear panel or cross-beam of the enclosure.

Abstract: An antenna designed to emit a beam of generally elliptical cross-section has a reflector with a parabolic-elliptical concave surface conforming to the formula(x/p)+(y/q)=2zwhere p and q are the parameters of its parabolic cross-section in the xz and yz planes, respectively. A microwave feed located on a line interconnecting the foci of these two parabolas, preferably at the outer focus separated from the surface vertex by a distance q/2, generates a beam parallel to the axis whose ellipticity depends on the ratio q/p.

Abstract: A controller for providing accurate analysis of color and density of the light from any color enlarger or the like. The controller is an on-easel analyzer having built-in automatic timer controls for controlling exposures from point 1 seconds to 99.9 seconds. Density and color filtration data provided by video or other off-easel analyzers are manually entered into digital switches on a control panel of the controller or such data can be automatically programmed in the controller through the use of punched paper tape or the like. The controller includes null indicator means to indicate a balance when the enlarger f/stop and color balance are adjusted. The controller may be programmed in units as small as 1 cc in color filtration ranges from 0 to 99 cc and density ranged from 0 to 199 cc. Controller also has a photo-sensitive probe, slope controls, a digital emulsion memory system and the controller can operate with substantially any color enlarger.
Abstract: A marking transfer sheet comprising an imaging layer of pigment, binder and a color-forming, radiation-sensitive component on a carrier film and a process for its use comprising exposing the imaging layer to a pattern of radiation to form a mark, heating the imaging layer until adhesive, and contacting the imaging layer with a support more adherent to the imaging layer than the carrier film; and optionally separating the carrier film from the imaging layer.
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of single crystals of MTiOXO.sub.4, wherein M is K, Rb or Tl and X is P or As, of optical quality and of sufficient size for use in nonlinear optical devices. In the process, starting ingredients chosen to be within the region of the ternary phase diagram in which the desired crystal MTiOXO.sub.4 product is the only stable solid phase, are heated to produce MTiOXO.sub.4 and then controllably cooled to crystallize the desired product. In a preferred method the ingredients are placed in a temperature gradient in which the hot zone ranges from about 800.degree.-1000.degree. C. and the cold zone about 10.degree.-135.degree. C. cooler, maintaining the temperature gradient for about 3 days to about 3 weeks, cooling, and recovering MTiOXO.sub.4 crystals.
Abstract: An amplifier having a high gain in a selected frequency band, e.g. for the preferential amplification of a pilot oscillation, consists of a plurality of cascaded stages each comprising an active component, a coupling network and a negative-feedback network. The coupling and feedback networks are alternately connected in a series circuit between a signal input and a signal output, each of these networks (with the possible exception of those associated with the first stage) comprising a damped parallel-resonant circuit with an inductive branch forming a low-ohmic path for direct current. Each active component has an input electrode connected through a stabilizing resistor to the junction of the associated coupling and feedback networks, its output electrode being tied to the downstream end of the corresponding feedback network.

Abstract: A novel group of photographic sensitizing dyes is prepared by reacting the 5,7-dimethyl-1,2-benzoxathian-4-one-2,2-dioxide sultone nucleus with other organic compounds capable of forming merocyanine, oxonol or styryl dyes therewith. The resulting dyes are particularly useful in the sensitization of silver halide emulsions and provide excellent speed and low after-processing dye stain.
Abstract: Nontacky, elastomeric shaped objects (e.g., pellets or filaments) comprising a normally tacky, uncured elastomer having an integral, porous coating of silicic or aluminic acid polymer can be prepared by bringing shaped bodies of a normally tacky, uncured elastomer latex into contact with an aqueous bath containing a soluble coagulating salt for the latex, and a silicic or aluminic acid polymer, and washing and drying the resulting coated shaped objects. The shaped objects are highly porous before washing and drying, and some porosity remains even after washing and drying.

Abstract: A flexible meat slicing blade and support therefor is provided for utilization in apparatus such as pizza forming machines to provide accurately and uniformly sliced meat products of specified thickness for deposit on a surface of a pizza shell. An elongated flexible meat slicing blade of this invention, which may be a continuous band, is supported for longitudinal movement in a cutting plane with the blade disposed at an angle with respect to that cutting plane. A cutting edge of the blade is beveled at an angle which is slightly less than the angle of inclination of the blade to the cutting plane. A support is provided for the portion of the blade passing through the cutting plane to maintain the flexible blade in precise position with respect to the cutting plane. This support includes a structurally rigid bar having a longitudinal groove in which the effective cutting portion of the blade is disposed for relative sliding movement.
