Abstract: Hexafluorotriallylisocyanurate is prepared by reacting 1,1-difluoro-1,3-dibromopropane with cyanuric acid in the presence of one or more alkali or alkali earth metal inorganic bases or with alkali metal salts of cyanuric acid.
Abstract: Removable opaque backing layers for photographic silver halide elements are described. The opaque backing layer contains carbon black and a scavenging agent for impurities of the carbon black selected from fine-rain photosensitive silver halides, silver nitrate, and halides of iron, zinc and mercury. The scavenger prevents the impurities from fogging the photographic silver halide emulsion layers of the elements.

Abstract: Moisture-cure of a polyurethane prepolymer based on an aliphatic diisocyanate is readily accomplished when a prepolymer is first made from a polyhydroxy compound and an isocyanate group-terminated adduct of the aliphatic diisocyanate with a monosecondary or disecondary diamine obtained by reaction of an aliphatic diamine with an activated monoethylenic compound. Tetravalent organotin compounds are particularly good catalysts for the moisture cure. Moisture-curable polyurethane compositions of the present invention are useful in polyurethane coatings, especially for decorative surfaces, such as flooring.
Abstract: The invention is directed to a process for producing cross-linked polymeric images on a substrate employing an oxygen-insensitive silver halide system to obtain camera-speed imaging with good resolution of the resulting image. The process comprises imagewise exposing a photosensitive layer containing dispersed silver halide in operative association with a multifunctional hydrophilic polymeric coupler, developing the exposed layer with a multifunctional developing agent, and removing the undeveloped, noncross-linked areas by washing with a solvent.
Abstract: A hair-waving device is disclosed, which is composed of an axonic body (e.g. a cylinder or a cone) on the surface of which a helical groove is formed. The helical groove communicates with a straight short groove in an axial direction across which a hair-clamping strap is arranged removably. A helical clip comprised of a single helix coil serves for snappingly engaging the free end of the strand of hair concerned.

Abstract: Adhesive coated metal sheet, e.g., steel, aluminum, bearing an adhesive layer comprising an ethyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate and acrylic acid copolymer; styrene and maleate ester copolymer, aqueous colloidal silica, and aqueous latex of a self-curing interpolymer. Pigments, e.g., ferric oxide, and antifoaming compounds can be present in the adhesive layer which is useful in adhering aqueous soluble photopolymerizable layers to the support. The elements formed are useful for printing.
Abstract: Compounds of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein X is cyano or ##STR2## Q is OR.sub.1 or --NR.sub.2 R.sub.3 ; R.sub.1 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms, R.sub.2 is hydrogen or methyl, and R.sub.3 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms, are incorporated into light sensitive silver halide emulsions to improve their sensitometric characteristics.
Abstract: An improved process and heating arrangement for actuating and arresting a heat-forming machine for producing deep drawn containers made of thermoplastic foil band material. The foil band material is paid out in stepwise fashion from one or more storage rollers and is then processed along a process path along which there are arranged in downstream fashion: a heating arrangement, a molding arrangement, a filling arrangement, a stamping arrangement and a driving mechanism. Control circuit means are operatively connected to all of the afore-recited arrangements. The heating arrangements includes heating elements for heating the foil band material to the molding temperature. Screening plates are slidably mounted in the heating arrangement between the foil band material and the heating elements.

Abstract: A correlator arrangement for a radar fuze (FIG. 1) in which the outgoing signal is modulated with a reference code and the incoming echo correlated with the code to pick out the signal. To reduce the effect of Doppler frequency modulation there are means 15-18 to reduce the frequency of signals outside a predetermined frequency range to bring them within that range.
Abstract: The silver halide coating weight of a lithographic element can be reduced by ca. 40% by coating two layers of gelatino-silver halide emulsion on a support, and dividing a speed-adjusting polyoxyethylene compound unequally between the two layers.
Abstract: A process for the hydrogenation of butadienepolyperoxide in a suitable solvent, e.g., tetrahydrofuran, at temperatures of 75.degree.-110.degree. C. and pressure above 2000 psia by contacting the butadienepolyperoxide and hydrogen in the presence of metallic silver. The process produces 1-butene-3,4-diol and 2-butene-1,4-diol.
Abstract: A straight edge for an earth-moving bucket has pockets on a plate which engage the bucket teeth. The plate extends back to overlap the bottom of the bucket. The straight edge is held firm by bolts through the plate and bucket. The straight edge is no wider than the bucket so that it can function as a digging edge. The straight edge is installable by a single person in a short period of time and without assistance.

Abstract: 6-Nylons and 12-nylons having primary amino end-groups and an average degree of polymerization of about 5-60 are grafted onto elastomeric trunk polymers having anhydride groups, vicinal carboxylic groups, or carboxylic groups adjacent to alkoxycarbonyl groups by heating a mixture of the nylon and the trunk polymer, preferably under high shear conditions for about 1 minute or less to 30 minutes or more above the melting temperature of the nylon. The resulting elastomeric graft polymers are suitable for fabricating into a variety of articles, such as, for example, wire jacketing, hose, belts, seals, gaskets, and low pressure tires.
