Abstract: A heat exchanger has a cross-current/counter-current structure, so that air which is directed across the heat exchanger is heated in the two successive rows. This design takes advantage of the temperature glide of a refrigerant blend. In this design, the hottest refrigerant blend is in contact with the hottest air, and the coldest refrigerant blend is in contact with the coldest air, leading to a lower difference between the average refrigerant blend temperature and the average air temperature compared to a pure refrigerant in a one-row heat exchanger.

Abstract: A wireless digital audio system includes a portable audio source with a digital audio transmitter operatively coupled thereto and an audio receiver operatively coupled to a headphone set. The audio receiver is configured for digital wireless communication with the audio transmitter. The digital audio receiver utilizes fuzzy logic to optimize digital signal processing. Each of the digital audio transmitter and receiver is configured for code division multiple access (CDMA) communication. The wireless digital audio system allows private audio enjoyment without interference from other users of independent wireless digital transmitters and receivers sharing the same space.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an aspherical LED angular optical lens for narrow distribution patterns and an LED assembly using the same. The optical lens comprises a concave surface on a source side and a convex surface on a project side. The LED assembly comprising the optical lens can accumulate light emitted from the LED die and generate a peak intensity of the narrow angular circle distribution pattern which is greater than 15° and smaller than 30°. The present invention only uses a single optical lens capable of accumulating light and forming a required distribution pattern to satisfy the requirement of a luminous flux ratio greater than 85% and the requirement of an illumination, a flash light of a cell phone or a flash light of a camera.

Abstract: A high swell, long-lived hydrogel sealant formed by reacting a highly oxidized polysaccharide containing aldehyde groups with a multi-arm amine is described. The hydrogel sealant may be particularly suitable for applications requiring high swell and slow degradation, for example, tissue augmentation, both cosmetic and reconstructive; void filling; tissue bulking, for example treatment of urinary incontinence and acid reflux; and embolization. The high swell, long-lived hydrogel sealant may also be useful as a tissue sealant and adhesive, and as an anti-adhesion barrier.

Abstract: Methods and systems in accordance with the present invention provide macros and a markup language referred to as Reusable Macro Markup Language (“RMML”) which allows numerical analysis routines to be written quickly, cheaply, and in a form that is usable by a broad range of data documents in the Reusable Data Markup Language (“RDML”) formatting language. RMML and RDML are markup languages, such as the Hypertext Markup Language (“HTML”) or the Extensible Markup Language (“XML”). Generally, RDML facilitates the browsing and manipulation of numbers, as opposed to text as in HTML, and does so by requiring attributes describing the meaning of the numbers to be attached to the numbers. RMML allows spreadsheet type macros to be posted as web documents, to be searched by search engines, to be combined into more complex programs, and to be reused with many data documents.
Abstract: Various types of edge seals for protecting electro-optic displays against environmental contaminants are described. In one type of seal, the electro-optic layer is sandwiched between a backplane and a protective sheet and a sealing material extends between the backplane and the protective sheet. In other seals, the protective sheet is secured to the backplane or to a second protective sheet adjacent the backplane. The electro-optic layer can also be sealed between two layers of adhesive or between one layer of adhesive and the backplane. Other seals make use of flexible tapes extending around the periphery of the display.

Abstract: A two-element f-? lens used for a micro-electro mechanical system (MEMS) laser scanning unit includes a first lens and a second lens, the first lens is a bi-convex lens and the second lens is a bi-convex lens. At least one optical surface is an Aspherical surface in both main scanning direction and sub scanning direction, and satisfies special optical conditions. The two-element f-? lens corrects the nonlinear relationship between scanned angle and the time into the linear relationship between the image spot distances and the time. Meanwhile, the two-element f-? lens focuses the scan light to the target in the main scanning and sun scanning directions, such that the purpose of the scanning linearity effect and the high resolution scanning can be achieved.
Abstract: An electro-optic display (102), or a sub-assembly of such a display, comprising a layer of electro-optic material (108) on a backplane (100) is assembled using at least one release sheet (112, 116) or masking film having a resistivity not greater than about 1013 ? square. The use of such a release sheet or masking film helps to avoid damage to transistors in the backplane during the assembly process.
