Abstract: A method for fabricating a mixing device comprises the steps of: a) providing a grooved conveying plate; b) bonding recessed first and a second cover plates to respective surfaces of the conveying plate, thereby to define first and second sets of separated interdigitated channels and first and second distribution manifolds; and c) forming respective supply ports through surface(s) of the cover plates. Each port is disposed in fluid communication with a respective distribution manifold. A dispenser apparatus is formed by connecting a header having a first and a second passage formed therein to the mixing device so that the first and second passages in the header are respectively disposed in fluid communication with the first and second supply ports in the mixing device.

Abstract: A mixing device for mixing adhesives containing at least two components comprises a conveying plate having first and second grooved surfaces each overlaid by a respective cover plate. The conveying plate and the opposed cover plates cooperate to define a plurality of separated channels extending through the mixing device. The discharge ends of the channels are interdigitated. First and a second distribution manifolds are defined within the mixing device. A supply port adapted to receive one adhesive component extends through a respective cover plate into fluid communication with one of the distribution manifolds.

Abstract: An optical fiber includes an optical fiber axis; a core extending along the axis, the core being made of a first, undoped material having a first refractive index; and a cladding coextensive to and surrounding the core. The cladding includes a background matrix made of the first material and has a plurality of holes formed in the background matrix extending parallel to the fiber axis arranged around the core in substantially concentric rings, and filled with a second material having a second refractive index lower than the first refractive index. The number of the rings of holes is two or three, an average distance between the holes is at least about 6 ?m, a ratio between an effective radius of the core and the average distance between the holes is at most about 1, and a ratio between an average dimension of the holes and the average distance between the holes is at least about 0.5.
Abstract: An electro-optic display comprises first and second substrates and a lamination adhesive layer and a layer of an electro-optic material disposed between the first and second substrates, the lamination adhesive layer having a thickness of from about 14 to about 25 ?m.

Abstract: An Email guarantee deposit method, system, and program product, with the method comprising in one embodiment, the steps of: receiving from a sender a request to send to a recipient an Email; receiving a deposit or an authorization to obtain a deposit of something of value; sending the Email to the recipient only if a deposit of authorization for a deposit is received; determining if the recipient has accepted the deposit; and if the recipient has accepted the deposit, then facilitating the disposal of the deposit. In an important alternate embodiment, a deposit can be required before an Email with a auditory or visual enhancement is provided, or before routing to a designated type of device occurs.

Abstract: A micro refinery system includes a fermentation tank, a distillation tube and a membrane ethanol separation mechanism. A batch that includes sugar, yeast and water is mixed in the fermentation tank. Sensors detect the physical characteristics of the batch and the operating status of the system. The sensors are coupled to a control system that compares the detected processing information to a look up table to determine if the system is operating under optimum ethanol productivity conditions. If the sensors detect a problem with the batch, the control system can add chemical components to the batch to correct the chemical imbalance. The system can also facilitate remote operations by transmitting sensed information to an operator computer and receiving control commands from the operator computer.
Abstract: A torsion tool testing fixture is disclosed. It comprises a ring with locking teeth engageable with a test feature and a housing surrounding the locking teeth. A securement for the test feature is tested for quality by applying a predetermined limiting torque to the housing.
Abstract: This invention is directed to processes for the formation of ruthenium-containing films on surfaces in atomic layer deposition (ALD) processes. The ALD process includes depositing a surface-activating group on the surface; exposing the deposit of the surface-activating complex to a ruthenium precursor to form a deposited ruthenium complex on the surface; and reacting the deposited ruthenium complex with a reducing agent to form a ruthenium-containing film on the surface. This invention is also directed to ruthenium complexes, RuL2L*, that can be used as ruthenium precursors in these processes.
