Abstract: A composition that can be used as a component in auto clear coat and primer is disclosed. The composition comprises or is an alkoxylated amine having the formula of (A)[N(R1H)2]p including an isomer or mixture of isomers thereof. Also disclosed is a process, which comprises contacting an amine with an epoxide under a condition sufficient to produce an alkoxylated amine. Further disclosed is a composition that can be used as coating composition and primer, which comprises an alkoxylated amine and an organic polyisocyanate.

Abstract: A respirator hood is designed to fit over and around the head of a wearer and includes a substantially transparent lens received in a front opening of the hood. An inflatable neck cuff is positioned near a lower portion of the hood and substantially circumscribes an opening through which the wearer inserts his head, with the inflatable neck cuff being supplied by an air source and inflated so as to exert a sealing pressure against the neck of the wearer and to prevent the hood from rising up relative to the head of the wearer. The respirator hood also includes one or more overhead channels which define an air delivery path from the air source over the head of the wearer to the interior of the lens and downwardly across the face of the wearer.
Abstract: A method of bonding a stainless steel part to a titanium part by heating a component assembly comprised of the titanium part, the stainless steel part, and a compact titanium-nickel filler material placed between the two parts and heated at a temperature that is less than the melting point of either the stainless steel part or the titanium part. The compact filler material is made of particles, preferably spheres, of discrete layers of nickel and titanium metal that react with each other and with the stainless and titanium parts to form a strong assembly when thermally processed. The component assembly is held in intimate contact at temperature in a non-reactive atmosphere for a sufficient time to develop a hermetic and strong bond between the stainless steel part and the titanium part.

Abstract: An I/Q modulator processes a time-discrete I/Q signal comprising an I component and a Q component. The I/Q signal is based on a sampling frequency which is equal to four times a carrier frequency of a carrier signal onto which the I/Q signal is modulated. A predistorter of the modulator predistort the I and components with a predistortion signal, which depends on the I and Q components, so as to form a predistorted I component and, in temporal alternation therewith, a predistorted Q components. An adjuster of the modulator adjusts the signs of the predistorted I and Q components so that two temporally successive predistorted components have a first sign and two additional successive predistorted components, which follow the first-mentioned components in time, have a second sign which is the inverse of the first sign, so as to produce therefrom an output signal at an output of the modulator.

Abstract: Disclosed are a thermoplastic polymer-linked-asphalt composition and a process for making a thermoplastic polymer-linked-asphalt. More particularly, the present invention relates to the reaction and resultant linking of a combination of epoxide-containing polymers and anhydride-containing polymers to asphalt to form a polymer-linked-asphalt composition having higher softening points. Abstract: This invention relates to a blend of fibers for use in protective clothing, a lightweight fabric made from such blend, protective articles made from the blend or fabric, and methods for making the fabric. The protective fabrics and articles of this invention have the unique combination of being comfortable, being highly effective against electrical arcs and flash fire hazards and having a pleasing appearance. Abstract: This invention discloses a load and battery control device for controlling and distributing electrical energy in a vehicle electrical system comprising a generator, an electrical load, and a stored energy source. The device monitors and processes electrical signals generated by the vehicle electrical system and compares them to a vehicle operating state. The device operates on a switching system to controllably connect or disconnect the generator, electrical load, or stored energy source, or any combination thereof, with the vehicle electrical system to be consistent with a pre-determined vehicle operating configuration.
Abstract: Methods are provided for the production and recovery of multifunctional aromatic compounds from a fermentation medium. Preferred multifunctional aromatic compounds include para-hydroxycinnamic acid (pHCA), cinnamic acid (CA), and para-hydroxystyrene (pHS). The multifunctional aromatic compounds may be produced in a biphasic growth medium comprising a fermentation medium having a specified volume of an extractant. The multifunctional aromatic compounds are extracted into the extractant and recovered by standard means.
Abstract: Permanent magnets or electromagnets or a combination of such magnets are provided to retain a prosthetic device on an extremity, such as an arm. The prosthesis utilizes the opposing forces, which are developed by virtue of like magnetic poles being in proximity to each other, to urge the prosthesis to remain attached to the extremity. The prosthesis is prevented from rotation by virtue of a centering force that is provided by an attachment magnet in the prosthesis being placed between two implanted magnets. A removable mounting ring is placed over the prosthesis straps to maintain them in proximity to the extremity.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process for decreasing the resistivity of a non-machined conductive flow field plate for use in a fuel cell. The process includes the step of annealing the conductive flow field plate by heating the conductive flow field plate to a temperature between 25° C. (room temperature) and a temperature slightly lower than the material softening temperature of the material composition of the conductive flow field plate; maintaining the conductive flow field plate at that temperature for an effective period of time; and, cooling the conductive flow field plate to room temperature.
