Abstract: A method of manufacturing a light emitting diode, wherein a laser lift-off (LLO) layer and an epi-layer are formed on a nitride semiconductor substrate, and the nitride semiconductor substrate is then separated through a laser lift-off process, thereby improving the characteristics of the epi-layer and enabling to fabricate a high-grade and high-efficiency light emitting diode. Further, the LLO layer thus prepared is removed using a laser beam so that the relatively expensive nitride semiconductor substrate can be re-used, thereby reducing manufacturing costs.

Abstract: A two stage reciprocating compressor includes a casing. A first compressing unit is disposed in the casing and includes a first piston and a first cylinder, the first compressing unit being driven by a reciprocating motor to linearly reciprocate the first piston in the first cylinder to suck in and compress gas. A second compressing unit is disposed in the casing and includes a second piston and a second cylinder, the second compressing unit being driven by vibration of the first compressing unit to linearly reciprocate the second piston in the second cylinder to suck in and compress gas. A vibration transfer member transfers the vibration from the first compressing unit to the second compressing unit. The first and second compressing units extend in parallel and face in the same direction, the second compressing unit being located adjacent to a suction passage of the first compressing unit.

Abstract: This invention discloses a projection screen including a diffusion layer, a cap layer, an interference layer and an absorption layer. The projection screen of this invention is based on the concept of inverse reflection. The interference filter includes a plurality of high and low refractive index layers, both of which alternately stacked. In this method, test data is recorded to allow derivation of an optimum power value based on reproduction characteristics of the test data. An intrinsic recorder ID information of an optical recording/reproducing apparatus, used to record data on the optical recording medium, and information about the record speed of the apparatus are recorded, along with the derived optimum power value, onto the count area of the optical recording medium or respective lead-in areas of sessions. The apparatus reads out the recorded optimum recording condition information when data is subsequently recorded onto the optical recording medium.
Abstract: A method for providing a location based service (LBS) in a point-to-multipoint broadcasting system comprises, in a mobile station, receiving a transmitter identifier (ID) from a point-to-multipoint transmitter, and obtaining location information based on the transmitter ID. The method also comprises determining a service area for the LBS based on obtained location information, in the mobile station. The method may further comprise updating stored location information in the mobile station based on the obtained location information. The method may further comprise receiving an LBS selection from a user, and transmitting the LBS selection to the point-to-multipoint transmitter. The method may further comprise receiving the LBS from the point-to-multipoint transmitter based on transmitted LBS selection. The point-to-multipoint broadcasting system may comprise a digital multimedia broadcast (DMB) system. The DMB system may comprise at least one of a satellite DMB system and a terrestrial DMB system.

Abstract: A motion estimation method and apparatus for video coding of a multi-view sequence is described. In one embodiment, a motion estimation method includes identifying one or more pixels in a first frame of a multi-view video sequence, and constraining a search range associated with a second frame of the multi-view video sequence based on an indication of a desired correlation between efficient coding and semantic accuracy. The semantic accuracy relies on use of geometric configurations of cameras capturing the multi-view video sequence. The method further includes searching the second frame within the constrained search range for a match of the pixels identified in the first frame.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an image processing technique, and in particular to a method for restoring a compressed image by using a hybrid motion compensation discrete cosine transform (hybrid MC/DCT) mechanism, including: a step of defining a smoothing functional having a smoothing degree of an image and reliability for an original image by pixels having an identical property in image block units; and a step of computing a restored image by performing a gradient operation on the smoothing functional in regard to the original image, thereby preventing the blocking artifacts and the ringing effects in regard to the pixels having an identical property in image blocks.
