  • Publication number: 20140251613
Abstract: A valve and valve assembly are provided to allow opening of flow channels through the wall of a tubular by increasing and then decreasing pressure in the tubular. Slidable seals having different areas are used to apply an axial force to a shuttle in the valve in response to differential pressure across the valve when in the closed position. The axial force shears a pin, releasing the shuttle. A decrease of pressure in the tubular can allow the valve to open in response to a spring force. Multiple valves may be placed along a tubular string and the valves may be opened all at substantially the same time or at time intervals determined by pressures applied inside the tubular.

  • Publication number: 20140257609
Abstract: A launch control system which maximizes hybrid vehicle acceleration from a standing start. A hybrid vehicle includes wheels, an engine, a motor-generator, a processor, and an actuation device. The processor controls an engine speed and an engine torque independently from a wheel speed and a wheel torque. While the hybrid vehicle is at a standstill, the actuation device is switched to an on state, and the engine speed and engine torque is raised to optimal values. When the actuation device is subsequently switched to an off state, the engine speed and the engine torque is applied to the plurality of wheels to launch the hybrid vehicle. The processor blends or further adjusts the torque applied to the plurality of wheels to maximize the acceleration while optimizing an amount of wheel slip. The processor then learns the launch to improve performance on subsequent launches.

  • Publication number: 20140257768
Abstract: The method comprises the steps of inputting a first set of data into both a physical system and into an SVR model. The method includes collecting a second set of system data from the physical system and stacking a plurality of SVR models to form an output prediction without feeding back the model output. Another aspect of the invention includes a method of hybrid modeling having delayed output measurement. This method includes the steps of inputting a first set of data into both a physical system and into an SVR model and collecting a second set of system data from the physical system. A modeling error is injected into both the second set of system data from the physical system and a third set of system data from the SVR model wherein the modeling error thereby leads to substantially improved model output.
