  • Patent number: 6994396
Abstract: A safety seatback for mounting to the rear of a watercraft is disclosed. The seatback rotates about the seat of the watercraft from an upright position to a boarding position. In the upright position the seatback prevents the passenger/rider from falling backward from the watercraft. In the boarding position the seatback does not interfere with a passenger/rider attempting to board the watercraft from the water and aids the person boarding the craft from the water. The seatback may be rotated by the passenger/rider from within the water or, in an alternate embodiment, may be remotely operated by the driver.

  • Patent number: 6993808
Abstract: A hinge for an orthopedic splint has two plates hinged for pivotal movement relative to each other and a detent engageable for locking the plates at a selected angle to each other, and a spring urging the detent into engagement. The detent is protected in a recessed guideway against operation with the unaided hand to discourage tampering with the splint settings by the patient fitted with same, but is retractable with a pointed tool inserted in the recess or a removable screw threaded in the detent as a finger hold. The screw may also pass through the detent and if tightened against an underlying plate keeps the detent disengaged to facilitate adjustment of the splint. The hinge allows left and right hand angular settings of the splint to either side of a zero angle for ambidextrous use of the splint, and radial tabs with directional markings are provided as visual indicators of the angular setting of the splint hinge.

  • Patent number: 6996461
Abstract: A train control system includes a positioning system and consults a database to determine when the train is approaching a configurable device such as a switch or grade crossing gate. The system continuously interrogates the device to determine its status as the train approaches the device, and forces an engineer/conductor to acknowledge any detected malfunction. The train is forced to come to a complete stop before proceeding past the device or may be slowed down to a speed that will allow the engineer/conductor to visually determine whether it is safe to proceed past the device if the engineer/conductor acknowledges a message warning of the malfunction and will stop the train if the engineer/conductor fails to acknowledge the warning message.

  • Patent number: 6995036
Abstract: The present invention has its object to make it possible to produce an ?-SiC wafer with stability and good reproducibility at low cost without using a seed crystal substrate that is expensive and less available. In each of crucibles 11a, 11b, 11c, and so on, a ?-SiC substrate 19 and an SiC raw material 17 are placed to face each other in close proximity. These crucibles are stacked in layers, and placed inside a radiation tube 40. The radiation tube 40 is heated by an induction heating coil 23, radiates radiation heat, and uniformly heats the crucibles 11a, 11b, 11c and so on. The SiC raw material in each of the crucibles is sublimated and recrystallized on a surface of the ?-SiC substrate 19.

  • Patent number: 6993832
Abstract: A chip mounting device of the present invention includes: an adhesive application unit 11; a temporary crimp unit 12; and a main crimp unit 13. In the unit 11, a camera 21 is used for detecting base material marks for each section region on a film base material 1 and substrate marks for each substrate pattern in the section region. The detected results are transferred to the unit 12. In the unit 12, a camera 45 is used for detecting base material marks, and the position of each substrate pattern is recognized on the basis of on the detection results and the positional data of each substrate pattern transmitted from the unit 11, thereby crimping chips temporarily. This enables the chips to be mounted with high precision even when the film base material 1 is expanded and contracted. In the unit 12, there is no detection of substrate marks, which minimizes a decrease in processing efficiency.
