Patent number: 6895279Abstract: Many patients suffer from diseases and surgical damage that result in failure of the stomach and intestinal tract to contract and relax normally in order to transfer contents distally. Electrical stimulation applied to one or more sites on the surface of the gastrointestinal viscera can treat this problem by triggering or altering muscle contractility. The present invention provides such stimulation by implanting leadless microstimulators in or on the walls of the viscera that can be programmed or controlled from a source outside the body.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2001Date of Patent: May 17, 2005Assignee: Alfred E. Patent number: 6894690Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a 3-D image file. In a preferred embodiment, the 3-D image file is produced using a source including a set of graphics instructions. The source data is produced, for example, by translating a data set into graphics instructions by a translation application. The graphics instructions are then converted into movie file commands by a graphics converter. In a preferred embodiment, the graphics instructions are converted by a set of procedures which contain storage and display information for each of the graphics instructions. Each command corresponds to a specific graphics instructions, and contains information for instructing a display software application to display a characteristic of a 3-D image. The commands are then recorded in the output 3-D image file.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2001Date of Patent: May 17, 2005Assignee: Engineering Technology Associates, Inc.Inventor: Walter E. Capers

Patent number: 6892582Abstract: The object of the present invention is to propose an etch channel sealing structure characterized by excellent impermeability to moisture and resistance to temporal change of the diaphragm in the pressure sensor produced according to the sacrificial layer etching technique, and to provide a pressure sensor characterized by excellent productivity and durability. After a very small gap is formed by the sacrificial layer etching technique, silicon oxide film is deposited by the CVD technique or the like, thereby sealing the etch channel. Further, impermeable thin film of polysilicon or the like is formed to cover the oxide film. This allows an etch channel sealing structure to be simplified in the pressure sensor produced according to the sacrificial layer etching technique, and prevents entry of moisture into the cavity, thereby improving moisture resistance. Moreover, sealing material with small film stress reduces temporal deformation of the diaphragm.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1999Date of Patent: May 17, 2005Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi Car Engineering Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shinya Satou, Satoshi Shimada, Atsuo Watanabe, Yasuo Onose, Seiji Kuryu, Atsushi Miyazaki, Junichi Horie, Naohiro Momma

Patent number: 6891445Abstract: In response to changes in an input binary digital signal, a 3rd order cosine pulse waveform, which, when it is changed in the increasing direction, has “0” level in a first period of T/12 (T corresponding to one-half cycle of the binary digital signal), is changed as a waveform of (h/2)(1+cos(3?t/T)+?/4) in the next period of 4T/12 (?5T/12?t??T/12) and has an h (constant) level in the remaining period of T/12, and when it is changed in the reducing direction, has the h level in the first period of T/12, is changed as a waveform of (h/2)(1+cos(3?t/T)??/4) in the next period of 4T/12 (T/12?t?5T/12) and also has “0” level in the remaining period of T/12. By using this pulse wave, a flat part is generated in a time width of T/12 with respect to a judgment point. It is thus possible to improve the immunity to the effects of digital signal jitter, obtain change judgment with a sole single pulse and reduce the circuit scale and the power consumption.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2003Date of Patent: May 10, 2005Assignee: NEC Engineering Ltd.Inventors: Noboru Kusama, Katsuya Kitada, Masahiro Akiyama, Takashi Nakagawa, Noriko Sato

Patent number: 6889545Abstract: A flow rate sensor detects the flow rate in a pulsating condition including a large amount of the reverse flow. Upstream temperature sensors and downstream temperature sensors are formed in both sides of a heater, parallel resistors are formed in the external side of a thin film portion (cavity), and the downstream temperature sensors are connected at the contacts. The upstream and downstream temperature sensors are respectively allocated to the four sides of the bridge circuit so that the sensors of the same type are not side by side and the electrodes are balanced when the flow rate is zero. The upstream temperature sensor is cooled during the forward flow, while the downstream temperature sensor is influenced by the heater but virtual change is rather small and potential difference between the electrodes becomes larger. During the reverse flow, the downstream temperature sensor is cooled but virtual change is rather small.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2004Date of Patent: May 10, 2005Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi Car Engineering Co., Ltd.Inventors: Keiichi Nakada, Junichi Horie, Izumi Watanabe
