    Abstract: A cable-stay cradle system (“cradle system”) for cable stayed bridges is mounted onto a cable stay, the opposite ends of which are attached to anchors on a bridge deck. The cradle system is disposed along the length of the cable stay and located in a pre-formed opening in a pylon. The cradle system includes axially spaced sleeve centering plates that have radially spaced holes through which the cable strands of the cable stay are threaded. The cradle system ensures that a distance from center-points of adjacent cable strands remains essentially constant along the entire length of the cradle system. The invention also provides a method of installing a cable stay including a cradle system, which includes the steps of threading the cable stay through the opening in the pylon so as to locate the cradle system in the opening, and attaching the cable stay to anchors on the bridge deck.

    Abstract: A compact, energy-efficient extensible illumination source combines the reliability advantages of light emitting diodes (LEDs) with the brightness of conventional lighting. High reliability of the LEDs provides trouble-free operation over a long hour lifetime. This high-output light source can be used in direct lighting applications or for backlighting for translucent materials. The illumination source includes LED printed wire board segments that may be configured to form a light line of any length. The segments are mounted on a inner mounting base which also serves as a first stage heat sink for the LEDs. The illumination source includes a linear mirror for reflecting radiant energy away from the LEDs to produce a uniform linear illumination pattern. A window provides mechanical protection for the LEDs and may be used for diffusing or filtering light from the LEDs. An integral base in contact with the inner mounting base also serves as a heat sink and provides structural support for the illumination source.

On a substrate of the liquid crystal display device, a pixel region which is comprised of a plurality of gate lines and a plurality of drain lines and a peripheral region which surrounds the pixel region are formed. A turn-on inspection terminal of the liquid crystal display device are formed on the peripheral region and a semiconductor chip for driving liquid crystal is formed on the inspection terminal. The semiconductor chip is electrically insulated from the inspection terminal.

    Abstract: A filtering system used on a meat injection machine that injects pickling into meat products. The filter consists of a tank and a first and second rotary filter. The first rotary filter uses a wedge wire wound cylinder and augers having flutes that rotate to catch and push away solid particles toward the second filter. The second filter then uses more wedge wire in a whirlpool effect to ensure all solid materials and foam are in the outside of the filter. Injector fluid is then taken from the center of the inside volume of the second filter to be used in injection needles.

    Abstract: A method of stuffing natural casings with emulsion involves placing a textured continuous belt transversely with respect to a longitudinal axis of a stuffing tube. The textured belt engages with the natural casing on the stuffing tube and distributes a compressive force on the outer surface of the casing. The textured belt then rotates to advance the natural casing into engagement with a twisting mechanism, which is downstream of the stuffing tube and prepares the casing for linking. The textured belt ensures that the natural casing is evenly fed into the twisting mechanism. A machine includes the foregoing components to accomplish the method.

    Abstract: A multi-chips package at least comprises a substrate, an upper chip, a lower chip, a reinforced device, and a plurality of electrically conductive bumps. The upper chip is flip-chip bonded to the upper surface of the substrate and the lower chip is accommodated in the opening and flip-chip bonded to the upper chip. Furthermore, the reinforced device is mounted onto the back surface of the lower chip and the lower surface of the substrate. The coefficient of the thermal expansion of the reinforced device ranges from the coefficient of the thermal expansion of the substrate to the coefficient of the thermal expansion of the chip. In such a manner, the reinforced device can constrain the thermal deformation of the substrate so as to prevent the electrically conductive bumps connecting the first chip and the substrate from being damaged.

    Abstract: A method of making a microelectronic package. The advanced microelectronic component package incorporates a specially shaped base element which holds and electrically separates the individual conductors associated with the microelectronic component(s) so that the individual conductors may be bonded to external package leads and other conductors within the package. In a first embodiment, jacketed, insulated wire is used as one winding of a toroidal transformer, while unjacketed insulated wire is used as another winding. The jacketing is stripped from the first winding and the exposed conductors are routed into channels along the sides of the base element. The unjacketed conductors are also routed into the same channels, where both conductors are bonded to the external package leads. Raised elements along the sides of the base provide the required electrical separation between the conductors during both manufacture and operation. A method of manufacturing the improved microelectronic package is also disclosed.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a device for testing electrical characteristics of a chip, which is capable of verifying whether each chip can meet the requirement of the electrical specifications, and sort out the chips under the specifications. The invention utilizes a probe to contact the extension area of the under bump metallurgy to detect if the electrical characteristics of the chip can meet the requirement of the specifications. As the bumps on the chip do not actually contact the probe, the intact profile for the bumps on the chips can be assuredly kept so that the problem of voids existing in the melted bumps during reflow process can be avoided.
