Patent number: 6868830Abstract: Air from the intake manifold and fuel from an injector is mixed by a Venturi of adjustable flow path, upstream of an intake valve. Fuel is injected into the throat of the Venturi to improve vaporization and to premix the fuel and air before the mixture enters the combustion chamber. A pressurized manifold from a supercharger or turbocharger system can enhance the action of the Venturi. The Venturi mixing enhances combustion efficiency, resulting in increased power and fuel economy for an internal combustion engine.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2004Date of Patent: March 22, 2005Assignee: James Meyer Aspen Engineering Services, LLCInventors: James M. Publication number: 20050059330Abstract: A method of stuffing natural casings with emulsion involves placing a follower against an upstream end of the natural casing to slide the natural casing forwardly along a hollow meat stuffing tube. The follower is mounted on the stuffing tube and advances the natural casing towards a discharge end of the stuffing tube, where sausage emulsion is injected into the natural casing. The follower pushes the filled casing through a hollow conical-shaped restricting device adjacent the discharge end which limits the outer diameter of the filled natural casing to ensure the uniform shape of the casing as it enters the twisting mechanism. The follower is connected to a longitudinally movable shaft that is parallel to the stuffing tube. A machine includes the foregoing components to accomplish this method.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 10, 2003Publication date: March 17, 2005Applicant: Townsend Engineering CompanyInventors: Steven Hergott, David Hamblin, Michael Hardy

Patent number: 6868230Abstract: A vacuum insulated heater assembly is provided for heating fluids and solids. The assembly includes an inner member, for example, a quartz glass tube with a low-emissivity conductive coating that produces heat when connected to external power. The inner member is attached to end caps that are attached to ends of, for example, an outer quartz glass tube, thus positioning the inner member within the outer tube. With a vacuum drawn within the space between the two tubes, the resulting heat radiates toward the center of the inner member, thus providing a thermos bottle type of construction. The fluid can be heated as it passes through the inner tube. If the inner member is not completely coated then heat would radiate toward the center of the inner member, pass through its uncoated portion, and then pass through the outer tube, where objects can be heated.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2003Date of Patent: March 15, 2005Assignee: Engineered Glass Products LLCInventor: Peter F. Gerhardinger

Patent number: 6864755Abstract: A modulated Class E transmitter is disclosed. In one embodiment of the invention, the modulated Class E oscillator achieves high coil currents (˜1A) and voltages (˜500V) with low power components by precisely timed injection of current when the oscillating current in the inductor passes through zero. A detector circuit is used to trigger the current injection at the appropriate instant regardless of changes in the resonant frequency of the system. Its phase can be adjusted to compensate for propagation delays in the drive circuitry, while amplitude modulation is accomplished by switching in additional reactive conductance to increase the current injected into the tank circuit.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2001Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Assignee: Alfred E. Patent number: 6862866Abstract: Resealable zipper plastic bags have upwardly protruding support members on each side of the bag mouth which are engaged within downwardly opening channels of two opposed indexer assemblies. With the bag mouth under tension, a slider assembly engages the bag slider, moves it to a fully closed position, then advances the slider to a fully open position. The indexer assemblies are moved toward each other to relieve tension on the bag mouth and cause the mouth to splay open. An insert plate is inserted and rotated to spread the bag mouth for introduction of product through a product chute. Once full, the chute and spreader assembly are withdrawn, tension is applied to the bag mouth, and the slider assembly moves the zipper slider to a fully closed position. The bag support members are then released from the indexer assemblies and the product filled bag is discharged from the apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2002Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Assignee: Protoco Engineering, Inc.Inventors: Sam J.
