Abstract: A method of casting an article includes forming a melt comprising copper, introducing manganese into the melt to produce a copper-manganese alloy, and casting the copper-manganese alloy in a mold to form the article. The carbon and oxygen contents of the copper-manganese alloy are controlled in order to control the formation of graphite, manganese carbide, and/or manganese oxide particles within the article. Copper-manganese alloys containing carbon are also provided, as well as articles made therefrom in cast or wrought form.

Abstract: Provided is a feedback method in a wireless communication system according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The method includes enabling a receiver to acquire a reception signal vector including a channel component and a noise component, enabling the receiver to generate feedback information by performing one or more of the following on the reception signal vector: processing through one or more first layers; processing through a second layer, and processing through a quantization layer, and enabling the receiver to transmit the feedback information to a transmitter. In the feedback method, the quantization includes stochastic binarization.

Abstract: A system and method for detecting, amplifying, and sorting non-transitory signals stemming from cellular activity of tissue in an extracellular medium is presented herein. Weak signals are difficult to detect, especially when they originate far from the measuring electrode. The invention takes advantage of stochastic resonance, i.e. adding noise to signals to amplify them and make them more detectable, to improve signal detection from a single electrode.

Abstract: A system may receive imaging data generated by an imaging device directed at a heart. The system may receive a first input operation indicative of a selected time-frame. The system may display images of the heart based on the intensity values mapped to the selected time-frame. The system may receive, based on interaction with the images, an apex coordinate and a base coordinate. The system may calculate, based on the apex coordinate and the base coordinate, a truncated ellipsoid representative an endocardial or epicardial boundary of the heart. The system may generate a four-dimensional mesh comprising three-dimensional vertices spaced along the mesh. The system may overlay, on the displayed images, markers representative of the vertices. The system may receive a second input operation corresponding to a selected marker. The system may enhance the mesh by adjusting or interpolating vertices across multiple time-frames.

Abstract: Systems and methods for separating organic chloramines and inorganic chloramines from an aqueous solution. Such a method includes providing a first container containing an aqueous solution that includes organic and inorganic chloramines and free chlorine, providing a second container containing a trapping solution and a tubular hydrophobic membrane through which inorganic chloramines contained in the aqueous solution can diffuse into the trapping solution, pumping the aqueous solution from the first container through the tubular hydrophobic membrane of the second container; and collecting the aqueous solution pumped through the tubular hydrophobic membrane in a third container connected to the tubular hydrophobic membrane. After pumping is completed, the second container contains an aqueous solution containing the inorganic chloramines and the third container contains an aqueous solution containing the organic chloramines and the free chlorine.
Abstract: A laser-assisted microfluidics manufacturing process has been developed for the fabrication of additively manufactured structures. Roll-to-roll manufacturing is enhanced by the use of a laser-assisted electrospray printhead positioned above the flexible substrate. The laser electrospray printhead sprays microdroplets containing nanoparticles onto the substrate to form both thin-film and structural layers. As the substrate moves, the nanoparticles are sintered using a laser beam directed by the laser electrospray printhead onto the substrate.

Abstract: A nonvolatile memory device and a method of operating the same are provided. The nonvolatile memory device may include a memory cell array having a vertical stack-type structure, a control logic, and a bit line. The memory cell array may include memory cells that each include corresponding portions of a semiconductor layer and a resistance change layer. The control logic, in a read operation, may be configured to apply a first voltage to a non-select memory cell and a second voltage to a non-select memory cell. The first voltage turns on current only in the semiconductor layer portion of the non-select memory cell. The second voltage turns on current in both the semiconductor layer and resistance change layer portions of the select memory cell. The bit line may be configured to apply a read voltage to the select memory cell during the read operation.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an enzyme complex in which a heme polymerase and a heme ligase are linked to each other via the dockerin module of cellulase, and to a method for producing a hemozoin using the same. Abstract: A new and distinct cultivar of Plectranthus scutellarioides (coleus) named ‘UF17-11-5’, primarily selected for its novel and contrasting yellow-green leaf color with distinct magenta veins and pink accents. This vigorous plant maintains its foliage late into the Fall season until frost, and has very stable leaf color in both sun and shade. Due to its striking color combination and vigorous long-lasting landscape features, this plant will likely succeed when promoted and grown in landscapes as a specimen annual plant filling a large amount of space with color in a very short period of time.
