  • Publication number: 20210140883
Abstract: An apparatus related method for measuring a property of a target material. The system may include a pump device that generates a pump beam. A modulation device may receive the pump beam and generate a modulated pump beam by modulating an intensity amplitude of the pump beam, which may be directed to the target material. A probe device may generate a probe beam, which is directed to the target material. A part of the probe beam may be reflected off of the target material, and has similar frequency characteristic as the modulated pump beam. A detection device may detect the reflected probe beam and produce a signal. An analyzing device may receive the signal and calculate the target material property by comparing the modulated frequency characteristics of the signal to those of the pump beam. At least one of the pump and the probe beams may be infrared light.

  • Publication number: 20210139942
Abstract: A method and apparatus for electrically monitoring a time-varying liquid droplet whose conductivity is continuously modulated by osmoregulation response of cells. According to the method, the droplet impedance or conductance is monitored over time as the droplet shrinks due to evaporation. The monitoring data is then compared to calibration data which is obtained by monitoring a reference droplet. The result of the comparison is then used to determine the concentration of viable (live) biological material contained in the droplet.

  • Publication number: 20210141856
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure describe an efficient O(n log n) method that implements the Inverse Chirp Z-Transform (ICZT). This transform is the inverse of the well-known forward Chirp Z-Transform (CZT), which generalizes the fast Fourier transform (FFT) by allowing the sampling points to fall on a logarithmic spiral contour instead of the unit circle. Thus, the ICZT can be viewed as a generalization of the inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT).

  • Publication number: 20210142157
Abstract: An electronic neuron device that includes a thresholding unit which utilizes current-induced spin-orbit torque (SOT). A two-step switching scheme is implemented with the device. In the first step, a charge current through heavy metal (HM) places the magnetization of a nano-magnet along the hard-axis (i.e. an unstable point for the magnet). In the second step, the device receives a current (from an electronic synapse) which moves the magnetization from the unstable point to one of the two stable states. The polarity of the net synaptic current determines the final orientation of the magnetization. A resistive crossbar array may also be provided which functions as the synapse generating a bipolar current that is a weighted sum of the inputs of the device.

  • Publication number: 20210143733
Abstract: The present invention provides a technique for a power supply, and particularly, a buck-boost DC-DC converter which is advantageous for energy harvesting from a low voltage. An LC resonant unit generates a pair of clock type signals having phases opposite to each other from an input signal. These signals are supplied to the clock input terminals of the Dickson charge pumps connected in series and converted into power signals having an amplified voltage so as to match the rated input specification of the buck-boost DC-DC converter of a post-stage.

  • Patent number: 11001943
Abstract: A simple controllable set-up for drawing single filament nanofibers from polymer solutions or melts using a rotating rod or a set of rods (round brush) is described. The set-up can be assembled in a few minutes and applied to fabricate customized nanofiber scaffolds and meshes for various applications. The resulting fiber diameter is controlled precisely in the range 40 nm to 5 ?m by adjusting the rotational speed and polymer concentration. Owing to the simple design and capability to manipulate single nanofibers, the spinning set-up can be used to wind a single filament into unidirectional, orthogonal or randomly oriented 2D and 3D meshes with controlled density, thickness and combinations of different fibers and materials in the scaffolds. The method is scalable and can be implemented easily for laboratory and industrial manufacturing.
