  • Patent number: 12005209
Abstract: A balloon catheter having an elongated catheter shaft defining a fluid drainage lumen and a balloon inflation lumen. The balloon catheter includes a fluid drainage port disposed about the distal end of the catheter shaft in fluid communication with the fluid drainage lumen, and a balloon inflation port disposed about the distal end of the catheter shaft in fluid communication with the balloon inflation lumen. A balloon portion is disposed about the distal end of the catheter shaft in fluid communication with the balloon inflation port. A release device is disposed in fluid communication with the balloon portion and the fluid drainage lumen, and includes an activating member. A tether is attached to the activating member of the release device. Tension applied to the tether activates the release device, enabling fluid flow from the balloon portion into the fluid drainage lumen and out of the body.

  • Patent number: 12005085
Abstract: A method to reduce the likelihood of a dysbiosis of the vaginal microbiome in an individual employing a probiotic method and composition for maintaining a healthy vaginal microbiome, with particular embodiments including a bacterial formulation of at least two live bacteria selected from the group consisting of L. reuteri, L johnsonii and L. crispatus, and at least one prebiotic having glycogen as a component thereof. The bacterial formulation is administered to an individual's vagina in an amount sufficient for the bacterial formulation to generate an amount of tryptophan metabolites sufficient to act as aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) agonists, thereby reducing inflammation in the individual's vagina. Certain embodiments include increasing the production of SCFAs in the individual's gut microbiome, while reducing the production of SCFAs in the individual's vagina and introducing ammonia oxidizing microorganisms to the individual's vagina.

  • Patent number: 12005115
Abstract: Vaccines are provided that elicit neutralizing antibodies to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Some vaccines comprise nanoparticles that display envelope proteins from EBV on their surface. The nanoparticles comprise fusion proteins comprising a monomeric subunit of a self-assembly protein, such as ferritin, joined to at least a portion of an EBV envelope protein. The fusion proteins self-assemble to form the envelope protein-displaying nanoparticles. Such vaccines can be used to vaccinate an individual against infection by different types of Epstein-Barr viruses as well as Epstein-Barr viruses that are antigenically divergent from the virus from which the EBV envelope protein was obtained. Also provided are fusion proteins and nucleic acid molecules encoding such proteins.

  • Patent number: 12009092
Abstract: Healthcare asset units are enabled to accomplish a healthcare facility management objective by first preparing the asset units in a pre-processing phase by using a computational processor to determine a first unique identifier for each asset unit. The prepared asset units are then transported in a removal phase to a manufacturer location, retrofit in a manufacturing phase at the manufacturer location by applying manufacturing processes to implement the durable information identifier on each asset unit, and by using a computational processor to determine a second unique identifier for each asset unit. The prepared asset units are then transported in a return phase, from the manufacturer location to a healthcare facility where the retrofitted asset units are subsequently used to accomplish a healthcare facility management objective.

  • Publication number: 20240182421
Abstract: Described herein are new synthetic routes for production of Endochin-Like Quinolone (ELQ) compounds. Synthetic routes to 3-substituted 4(1H)-quinolones are presented that are amenable to industrial scale preparation. One herein presented approach is relatively short, does not require palladium, and involves no chromatographic separation. A second herein presented approach is similarly relatively short, does not require palladium, involves no chromatographic separation, and also avoids high vacuum distillation. Additionally, both approaches require no protecting group chemistry because the insoluble 4(1H)-quinolone is not formed until the final reaction step.
