Abstract: To permit adjustment and ready removal of a halogen lamp from an operating room light so that the halogen bulb (3) can be positioned with respect to a dome-shaped reflector (1) to control the light distribution therefrom while being readily removable for bulb replacement and cleaning, a pivot arm (5) is hinged at a circumferential point to the outer circumference of the reflector (1) and held in horizontally extended position across the reflector by a latch (16, 20; 18, 19, 19'; 21, 27). The other end of the latch is in engagement with a vertically positionable adjustment sleeve or rod (7) to adjust the position of the latch arm, and hence of the lamp bulb (3) with respect to the apex of the reflector (1) by pivoting of the pivot arm (5) about its pivot point (6) adjacent the circumference of the reflector. A plurality of such lamps may be combined in a common housing (H), and adjustment can be carried out conjointly, for example by a drive (11, 23) common to all the adjustment elements.

Abstract: A cuvette for optical gas-analysis apparatus, having an elongated metallic housing with two end-faces, two chambers which are parallel to the longitudinal axis and have radiation-reflecting wall surfaces and which are separated from each other by a partition. One of the chambers is for holding a gas under investigation and the other is for holding a reference gas. The chambers are closed off at the end-faces of the housing by radiation-penetrable windows made of a material from the group consisting of calcium fluoride and barium fluoride and which are each initially connected by glass solder to an intermediate frame, which is connected to the housing. The intermediate frame has a U-shaped cross-section and is composed of a metal from the group consisting of gold, silver and aluminum and the intermediate frame is connected, to the windows and to the housing by glass solder.

Abstract: A roto-gravure printing base cylinder is made by providing a cylindrical body (1), for example of steel, and applying thereover a cover layer (2) by thermal spraying, for example plasma-spraying, or arc-spraying. The cover layer is made of a material which is inert with respect to electrolytes used in applying a further copper layer over the cover layer to form a finished roto-gravure cylinder for optical engraving, for example an electrochemical valve metal, preferably tantalum, niobium or, most desirably, titanium oxide, forming a matrix in which, before application of the material as a layer on the steel cylinder, electrochemically active materials are applied made of a metal, preferably of the platinum group or other noble metal, and uniformly distributed over the surface, settled on the matrix material.
Abstract: To provide for more reliable determination of resistance of sample surfaces to light and weather influences, test apparatus is equipped with a radiation-measuring device. A portion of radiation used for testing is guided to the measuring device, by quartz guides, spectrally dispersed, and measured as to intensity and/or dosage in one or several pre-selected spectral regions. Tests may use natural or artificial radiation, and a measuring device may be stationary or movable relative to a radiation source.

Abstract: To reduce failure and breakage of connecting wires connecting specific zones on semiconductor chips to semiconductor frames, the connecting wires are made of an aluminum-copper alloy having, by weight, 3 to 5%, preferably 4% copper, the remainder aluminum (neglecting incidental impurities), the diameter of the wires being between about 0.01 to 0.06 mm, preferably about 0.02 to 0.05 mm, connected to the frame and the semiconductor, respectively, by ultrasonic bonding.
Abstract: The temperature of the dye bath in a vat or trough (1) is controlled in dependence on absorption change, which is photometrically sensed. A command value of dye acceptance speed related to temperature of the dye within the vat is provided, compared with actual temperature, and a control signal is derived which, in turn, controls a heat exchanger supplied, selectively, with a heating or cooling medium in order to control dye acceptance of at least one predetermined dye component of the bath by the material therein.

Abstract: Silver base casting alloys for dental use which have a yellow color. They are useful for the manufacture of crowns, bridges and other dental prosthesis and such dental prosthesis are within the scope of the invention. The dental alloys consist essentially of 40-60% silver, 15-20% indium, 8-15% copper, 0.1-2% nickel, 0.1-2% zinc, from 0-10% gold and/or from 0-30% palladium. The total of gold and palladium content is between 10 and 30%.
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for drawing a monocrystal from a crucible by means of a coilable pulling element having the end that is located above the crucible secured a crystal-nucleus holder. The pulling element, which is preferably a steel cable, is connected to a lifting drive which is arranged on a platform which is rotatable about the pulling element. The lifting drive comprises a driven horizontal shaft with a longitudinally displaceable coiling drum thereon, onto which drum the pulling element can be tangentially coiled. The vertical speeds of the crystal-nucleus holder can be adjusted to speeds which differ greatly from each other by providing the lifting drive with a drive motor for rapid operation and a drive motor for flow operation, which motors act on the coiling drum by way of shafts which can be disconnected from each other by means of a clutch but which are disposed coaxially.
Abstract: The object of the invention is a process for recycling used lubricating oils. After drying and gasoline removal, the oil is distilled and then treated with sodium or sodium hydride in a finely-divided state at elevated temperature. This is followed by a further distillation. Both distillations are at temperatures below 300.degree. C., the oil fractions of low volatility being respectively distilled in a molecular distillation apparatus at below 2 mbar.
Abstract: A plant for producing metal powder from metal melts includes a first chamber with a device for converting a melt stream initially into liquid and then solid metal particles in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, a tundish with a closable floor opening that can be mounted on the first chamber and discharged thereinto, and a melt device for filling the tundish with molten metal. The metal melt is continuously protected against oxidation or absorption of gas, the structural height of the plant is reduced and the capacity of the melt device is utilized to a greater degree by enclosing the melt device by a second chamber separated from the first chamber for maintaining a nonoxidizing atmosphere. The second chamber is equipped with at least one lock into which the tundish can be brought and from which it can be removed.
