    Abstract: A clear air device to maintain the cleanliness of air in "clear rooms" and to ventilate said rooms has a casing with an air inlet grid and an air outlet grid, a preliminary filter, a ventilator and a high efficiency particulate air filter unit (HEPA). The preliminary filter, the ventilator and the high efficiency filter are arranged within the casing in such an order that the air drawn in through the inlet grid first passes said preliminary filter, then the ventilator and thereafter the HEPA. The wall of the casing is provided with one opening between the air inlet grid and the preliminary filter and one opening between the HEPA and the air outlet grid.

    Abstract: An abrasive material and process for manufacturing the same. The process comprises: (i) applying a basic binder layer to a flexible support; (ii) scathering abrasive particles onto the basic binder layer; (iii) drying and subsequently cooling the resultant product; (iv) applying a second binder layer as a sizer to the cooled product of step (iii); (v) drying and cooling the sizer; (vi) loosely rolling up the product of step (v); and (vii) curing and subsequently cooling the product of step (vi) by passing a heating or cooling air stream substantially axially through the rolled-up product. The basic and second binder layers each comprise an aqueous mixture of (A) at least one predominantly ortho-structural resol having a molar ratio of phenolic component to formaldehyde of from 1:(1.1 to 2.5), and (B) at least one polyvinyl alcohol in an amount of from 5 to 30% by weight based on the weight of solid phenolic resin.

C., a flow time of from 20 to 600 s at 160.degree. C., and a gel time of from 35 to 1,200 s at 160.degree. C. and an article coated with said composition.

    Abstract: The reactivity of phosphorus pentasulfide produced by reacting phosphorus and sulfur at a temperature higher than the melting point of phosphorus pentasulfide and allowing the resulting melt to cool and solidify on a cooling device is improved. To this end, liquid phosphorus pentasulfide is placed on, or introduced into, a cooling device; an upper liquid P.sub.2 S.sub.5 -layer portion A is separated immediately from a solidified lower P.sub.2 S.sub.5 -layer portion B which is in direct contact with the cooling surface area of the cooling device; the upper P.sub.2 S.sub.5 -layer portion A is recycled to a P.sub.2 S.sub.5 melt; the lower P.sub.2 S.sub.5 -layer portion B is removed from the cooling device and collected as final product; the reactivity of the collected P.sub.2 S.sub.5 -layer portion B is increased to the same extent as the quantitative ratio of the P.sub.2 S.sub.5 -layer portion A to the P.sub.2 S.sub.5 -layer portion B is increased.

The compounds are used as flame-retardants for textiles.

    Abstract: Novel chemical compounds which comprise tetramethyldiphosphinomethane of the formula:(CH.sub.3).sub.2 P--CH.sub.2 --P(CH.sub.3).sub.2and methyllithium-dimethylphosphine of the formula:LiCH.sub.2 --P(CH.sub.3).sub.2,the latter being an intermediate product. Methyllithium-dimethylphosphine is made by reacting a solution of trimethylphosphine with a solution of alkyllithium in an inert solvent with the exclusion of air and moisture, filtering the resulting white precipitate, washing it with the inert solvent, and drying the washed material. Tetramethyldiphosphinomethane is made by reacting, with agitation, a suspension of methyllithium-dimethylphosphine, or dilithiomethane of the formula Li(CH).sub.2 or magnesiomethane of the formula MgCH.sub.2 in an organic solvent with dimethylchlorophosphine and distilling the resulting reaction mixture.

    Abstract: For the manufacture of non-wovens, filaments are laid down on a moving surface. The filaments are deflected by means of a rotating deflector and a subsequent guide plate connected thereto. It is important that the rotating deflector deflects the filaments from the rotational axis and that the guide plate rotating synchronously with the deflector leads back at least part of the filaments in the direction of the intersection of the rotational axis and the deposition surface, this leading back being carried out advantageously to a different extent for different portions of the filament veil.
