Abstract: A yarn is described composed of an untwisted staple sliver and of at least one filament wound around this sliver. The denier of the winding filamentary yarn is under 50 dtex, the elongation at break of the winding filamentary yarn is at least as great as the elongation at break of the staple fibers; the strength at a specific load of the winding filamentary yarn at 4% of elongation is at least 10 g. Moreover, the shrinkage factor of the winding filamentary yarn is within the same range as the shrinkage factor of the staple fibers. Also at least 85% of the staple fibers are longitudinally orientated in the sense of the yarn direction.Furthermore, a process is described for the manufacture of a wrapped yarn by wrapping at least one filamentary yarn around stretched, highly oriented staple fibers being led through the hollow shaft of a rotating filamentary yarn bobbin. The winding filamentary yarn is withdrawn from the filamentary yarn bobbin and also led through the hollow shaft of this filamentary yarn bobbin.

Abstract: Organic phosphines are produced by reacting an alkylene, cycloalkylene or aralkylene in the presence of a free radical-yielding catalyst. More specifically, a pressure reactor, which is provided in its interior with mixing elements, kept free from oxygen, and subdivided so as to comprise an upper cooling zone and a lower reaction zone, is continuously supplied from above with (a) a solution of the alkylene, cycloalkylene or aralkylene and the catalyst in an inert solvent, and (b) a stoichiometric excess of hydrogen phosphide, the said (a) and (b) reactants being supplied jointly with but separately from one another; the (a) and (b) reactants are mixed in the upper cooling zone of the reactor at about 0.degree. to 35.degree. C. and under a PH.sub.3 -pressure of about 80 to 300 bars; the resulting mixture, which travels downwardly in the reactor, is reacted in the lower reaction zone at about 90.degree. to 190.degree. C.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of soluble copolymers, which contain hydroxyl groups, can be crosslinked with organic polyisocyanates and are based on mixtures of styrene, methyl methacrylate, hydroxyethyl methacrylate, acrylic acid and glycidyl esters of .alpha.-alkylalkanemonocarboxylic acids and/or .alpha.,.alpha.-dialkylalkanemonocarboxylic acids, by heating in inert organic solvents in the presence of polymerisation initiators and optionally chain stoppers, simultaneous esterification and polymerisation taking place.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a special copolymer solution consisting of acrylic resin containing 70 to 90% by weight of copolymer solids and 10 to 30% by weight of solvent. The invention also relates to a process for the manufacture of the copolymers which are present in the copolymer solution; additionally, the invention relates to the use of the copolymer solution for the manufacture of coating compositions for lacquer systems of low solvent content which contain polyisocyanates and which contain the copolymer manufactured according to the invention as a resin component which carries hydroxyl groups.
Abstract: Non woven webs are produced from filaments by laying down the said filaments in the form of cone sections on a moving surface with simultaneous spreading out to a filament veil with the use of rotating deflectors coming into contact with the filaments on one side only. The deflecting area of the deflectors has a plane shape. The filaments used are drawn, partially drawn or undrawn. A non woven web with particularly good properties is obtained when the axis of the bundle of filaments and the deflecting surface of the deflector form an angle of from 10.degree. to 80.degree.. To produce the web a simple and reliable device is used.
Abstract: A composition for finishing lithographic printing plates having an oil phase which preferentially adheres to the image areas and an aqueous phase which desensitizes the metal carrier and aids in maintaining its hydrophilic character upon storage.

Abstract: Pure Maddrell salt is produced by heating sodium phosphate to temperatures of 250.degree. to 420.degree. C. The sodium phospate used as starting material is sodium trimetaphosphate or a mixture of sodium trimetaphosphate with Maddrell salt, monosodium orthophosphate or disodium pyrophosphate, the mixture containing Na and P in a molar ratio of 1:1. Prior to heating the starting material, it is admixed with 0.5 to 5 weight% of orthophosphoric acid, polyphosphoric acid, phosphorus pentoxide or at least one salt of a volatile base forming polyphosphoric acid at the temperatures specified. The resulting mixture is calcined over the period necessary to transform the starting material to Maddrell salt.

Abstract: Plasticizer containing polyvinylbutyral sheets are known intermediate layers for glass laminates. Generally, the polyvinylbutyral used for this application contains certain amounts of vinyl alcohol units and vinyl acetate units. In order to adjust an optimum adhesion to glass, certain additives are mixed with the polyvinylbutyral, which additives must not cause discoloration of the laminate and deterioration of the transparency. Betains are especially suitable anti-adhesives, and efficient in very small amounts.
